We enjoyed Hansei at the JACCC. The gardens provide a unique way to enjoy appetizers before the main courses at the sushi bar.

Beautiful japanese Garden, private cozy tucked away gem in Little Tokyo, perfect for events, weddings, private settings.I came here for the Rising Chef Series that is during May for AAPI month. The dining room and entire lower level is very luxe high end feeling and seats about 24 comfortably. They also do well with pop-up dining and bartending drinks. Parking for here is easy as well - there's lots of meters around and all of the office crowd is gone by 6pm so its easy to find parking within a few feet away from the building.

Park in the structure off of 2nd st. between San Pedro and Central Ave. and it will put you right outside of the Aratani Theater entrance and across from Millet Crepe. Been here twice for a John Water's book signing event and the Nurse Unseen documentary. It's more of an auditorium than a theater, but there's plenty of seating here and the air flow inside here is great. If there's an event here, know you're going to be in Little Tokyo so traffic might be a b**** so the earlier you leave the better, doesn't matter where you live. Great spot to host a sit-down event.

There is a monthly bokashi club here. You can learn about the Japanese method of composting. I came to get a bokashi bucket and grains and so far, it's going well. Bokashi is for food scraps, cheese, dairy, and even meat! Turn your food waste into plant nutrients.

My favorite section of the Japanese American Cultural Community Center is in the bottom floor which houses Toshizō Watanabè Culinary Cultural Center, a state of the art kitchen and a chic restaurant space, along with a view of a large classic Japanese garden that is just beyond the very wide and spacious glass doors so that the outside garden and the interior seem to merge and blend together. The resident chef program showcases Chef Chris Ono who will preside over the kitchen for a year until at least Spring 2022. At this time, his culinary theme, Hansei meaning self reflection, contemplation, symbolizes his deep consciousness on his approach to cuisine and his never ending journey to reach toward perfection. Nikkèi Tasting Menu & Sakè (sah keh) Pairing: Grand hospitality from the peaceful walk through the Japanese Garden, appetizers while viewing the garden, to the chef's counter fine dining experience. Chef Chris and staff create well crafted, culinary delights not only showcasIng the Japanese American Nikkèi experience, but also world influences from multicultural Los Angeles. Nikkèi refers to Japanese who live outside of Japan. I will post photos of the fine detailed, curated cuisine for December 2022 since, in this case, a photo is worth one thousand words. Thanks also to Yuki and Akill who helped in the logistics. This is a culinary tour de force that is a must for those interested in leading edge Nikkèi cuisine. Limited seating of 10 at the chef's counter. Fine Sakè (sah keh) pairings round out the well curated, fine haute cuisine. Reservation for his multicourse Menu de Gustation can be reserved by going on the JACCC website. exploretock.com/japanese…JACCC has hosted many Pop Up events such as when N/Soto had its culinary events as a pre-warm up before they started serving in their permanent restaurant in fall 2021. Also, the Japanese American Cultural Community Center is in the heart of Little Tokyo downtown LA with reference to the architectural lines of ancient temples and shrines in Japan. The ground floor houses a gallery with different exhibits throughout the year that have to do with Japanese art and culture. The upper floors house various clubs and Japanese organizations which add to the richness of the Japanese American community.

Loved the Osechi Made Easy cooking class! Initially, I thought the class may be a little expensive, but learned a lot and ate what we made afterwards, including some things which we did not make but received recipes. Worth the cost.Recently walked by during Nisei Week and the Tanabata decorations were up and they were having various special exhibits, including calligraphy and Ikebana (flower arrangements)...worth seeing.

Not the most accessible - no elevator to second floor, plus no bathrooms on second floor. No accessible seating on second floor. Make sure you're not seeing an event from the second floor.

I come here every time we're in town. The cast has changed a few times over the years, but they're always hilarious. The energy and overall experience greatly depends on the audience. Hopefully you attend with creative and witty people.
