Howdy Bargain is a long-standing, decent value store and one-stop shop with consistent quality and low prices. It offers a good variety, from food and electronics to kids toys and gadgets, with many good things and freaking steals. The staff are pretty nice. It is a cornerstone of the community near USC, though the parking lot can become a local hangout spot. A noted con is that it does not accept EBT. Overall, it is a really great and affordable place for all your needs.
Still my favorite...fun fact: they have a full overstocked aisle of pet stuff - dogs and cats (lots of collars+leashes!), but stuff for fish, birds, and other all sorts of creatures. I feel like bird-owners and first time fish-owners should really take advantage of this!
