Posting this so that Everyone could see: I give it 3 stars because even though the place is great, I got harassed and threatened by some white knight about 11 years ago. He was some Australian guy in his 40s or 50s. Regardless of how big he appeared, he was still a weak and insecure man on the inside. Just know that next time something like that happens, I won't hesitate to push back on his insults and fire back at him only for him to make the first move and attack me. This will end up with me boxing him and turning him into my punching back. Not even all the muscles or ego in the world will save you from a fist fight. On top of that, this all started when I placed my items near a pull up spot at the 3rd floor in the weight room. After I went to get water, my stuff was moved by a woman and I asked her "hey, I was here and noticed you had moved my stuff." She apologized and the white knight said "why do you gotta be bothering women?" and I looked at him and responded "I was here first and I wasn't bothering anyone, you're the one bothering me so back off". He didn't take it well and tried resorting to these pathetic attempts to try to intimidate me.If you're reading this Mr. White Knight, I hope we meet again so I can really punish you by taking your ego away from you.

Just Horrible! Go pay dues at the LA Fitness instead. NO ONE picks up the phone and on their website it says it’s open BUT ITS NOT OPEN they went out of business and want people to dive there just to find out.

It’s out of business! Why didn’t they take it out of Google? I drove all the way here for nothing.

This place was fine when it was cheap and convenient. And when the pandemic hit we still paid them for a full year to allow them to do charity work with the homeless/keep them stable.. But as soon as we got to the end of the pandemic and they *could* reopen they started a massive redesign and still asked for money! No.

There has been ZERO outreach to members about what they plan on doing to prevent the spread of viruses, currently COVID-19. This is sickening and disgraceful since they send out so many emails about the current building renovations. This location has a reputation for falling well below the standards of cleanliness. Additionally, this location caters to men's (men dominated) activities and improving the equipment and facilities they use. The PILATES / GRAVITY equipment (the best equipment in the entire gym) is scheduled to be entirely removed because they supposedly don't have the money to replace parts or equipment yet somehow have the money to replace the basketball courts flooring and get more of the same weight machines that are abundant in the facility. The money is also going toward remodeling their offices which I suppose will look better, but doesn't help a single member improve their health. This just further demonstrates the repeated failure of this YMCA to prioritize their members and to support their mission statement which is 'healthy living and social responsibility'. Their actions, and inactions, speak otherwise.

Maybe it's just my own personal preference, but I prefer these old school historic facilities vs a brand new gym. Being here makes me feel like I'm in an another era. The character of the building, which was built back in the 20's is well maintained. Don't worry, their gym equipment is all updated. They have just about everything you could want in a gym; multiple basketball courts, fitness and cardio rooms, areas to relax, multiple pools, spas and more. It's a sprawling facility with three floors. It will take to awhile to get your bearings in there. They have a giant locker room with the steam and sauna inside both the male and females side which I love! It's almost like a Korean Spa, and people seem to use it as such. Not an issue if you're comfortable with nudity. The lockers are a little rusted out but they work fine. Bring your own locks. They offer towel service for a fee or you can bring your own. I signed up after years of using 24 hr fitness, and I've been to the Y as a kid but now 20 years later, I'm happy and proud to be a member of the Hollywood YMCA!

It’s narrow to play volleyball and the goal ring of basketball is in the way.

I came in to learn about volunteer opportunities and also sign up for the gym. I tutored non-profit as an after school teacher with the YMCA in Berkeley before law school. I enjoyed working with that facility and expected a like experience. I would agree with other reviews; the equipment could use improvement, the lockers are a little rusty, some grime. The more relevant issue is that the assistant manager Jasir came and literally waited and watched as I took a shower, telling me not to wash with soap as they were closing. Indignant. I wish I could write something positive but there is nothing nostalgic about this location. For the money there are also cheaper and cleaner facilities at 24 Hour Fitness which has a pool and more amenities for less. But, above all don't monitor and yell people out of their daily shower. Awful.

I love it! It's small, less crowded and has also has some great classes. They have trx classes and some fancy pilates with equipment. Power yoga with Joe is the best!! Their HIIT ( high intensity interval training) are great too! Parking on site for just $1.
