It’s okay. Obviously some people are useless to themselves and can even put their dirty towels in the baskets or clean after themselves. It’s nice to see they try their best to keep it as clean as possible, it gets super busy, and mostly needs an equipment upgrade for sure , but okay in general. It should be in my opinion like the one on Thousand Oaks, that one gets a hands down. It’s big and modern.

The experience overall was a bit underwhelming. The good stuff:- Mostly friendly customer service staff. The not so great stuff:- Customer experience fell far behind customer service.- Equipment is a bit old and most of the bars are bent.- Limited racks available.I utilized the 1 week pass as I was on a holiday. For reference, a daily pass is $40USD, and a weekly is $89USD.My main frustrations come from:- Inefficient processes- Inconsistency in applying "company policy"- Possibly, management's lack of education to staff on how to clearly communicate policies as I don't genuinely believe it's on staff to know why each policy is in place. However, being able to communicate with customers effectively as to the 'why' plays a critical role in customer experience.I understand filling in the liability form at the start of the gym pass, however I was asked to fill it in 'almost' each time I had to utilize the gym. There were some instances where staff had mentioned that a new one did not need to be filled out, and instances where other staff want it to be filled out again. This causes frustration and wastes a lot of time.I'm unsure of what happens with the forms when filled because staff don't know if data gets deleted or not for having to fill this out multiple times. I didn't gain much clarity despite asking if data gets deleted as the response always was "it's for liability" which dances around the question. There was also inconsistency around issuing guest passes. Some guests got guest passes and others did not, and staff could not explain why.Overall a process improvement could make customer experience better.

I have been trying to cancel my membership for days and it is impossible. They keep sending me to a different person to cancel the membership, they even made me call a different company, but now I am back with the first person I called. None can cancel my membership. I will change the review once someone from the gym cancels my membership

Overall for the price, this gym is a good deal in the heart of Hollywood. But beware that it is ALWAYS packed. People are serious and actually working out and responsive when you nudge them, but you will be waiting a lot. The biggest issue is that they have a limited number of the most popular machines like the leg press and bench press. These are standard machines and very popular in most workouts. So to have a line waiting for them is just poor planning and management. Or they should have a sign up system to help folks manage the wait. Lots of people work there but honestly they don’t do anything. However, the cardio floor and locker rooms are really well maintained. Just feels like they aren’t accommodating the demand of their customers. If cardio area has lower demand, remodel that section to include more popular strength equipment. It’s basic business. But I’m only here temporarily so I’ll make do. Would not join long-term though.

Been a member for a year. Gym has good layout and equipment for how affordable it is. Still worst gym Ive been a member of. Crowded all the time. Gym is run like a bank. Just get as many people to sign up that it's packed balls to face. Then on top of that they decide to clean during busy hours. Fine but the staff acts like your in their way and literally runs the vacuum into your feet mid set. Worst part is the crowd is wack. Everybody and their ex boyfriend goes here. Feels like the Spirit or Walmart of gyms. I rather just pay more money @ John Reed and avoid the poverty.

Lies, lies, lies!!! This is the worst gym service I've ever seen. The staff deceived me three times. When signing the contract, I asked if I would have a free month, as advertised, because I referred a friend who also signed up. The sales manager said I would have a free month the following month. In the next month, the gym deducted money from my account. When I came to the gym in the second month, I asked why they charged me. The staff said I would get the next month for free – it was the third month. It seemed strange, but I didn't want to upset the receptionists, so I said okay. In the third month, the gym charged me again! I hate being lied to!!! Today, I came to the gym and asked to talk to the manager and know the name of the person who signed my contract. The staff denied me a conversation with the manager and didn't disclose the name of the sales manager who handled my contract. I get the impression that all they care about is money, and they will do anything as long as you keep paying. I am upset and will probably look for another gym. Before going to this gym and purchasing a membership, think twice, as they might deceive you! Read agreements in writing because the sales manager will likely deceive you, and it will ruin your mood later on.

Read the endless bad reviews before signing up. Then, count how many times the management team has had to publicly apologize for incompetent and subpar service. This gym is aware of its shortcomings and pays lip service instead of making changes. You, whoever you, are worth a gym that is not ghetto, overcrowded at all hours, or run by the most out-of-shape and unprofessional gremlins Hollywood has to offer. Go anywhere else. Be anywhere else. Do better. You'll thank me. Good luck and happy gyming.

Equipment is outdated, worn down, unbolted to the ground (safety risk). Gym is crowded with machines on close proximity to one another. Main entrance and restrooms are in decent condition

Facility itself is fine, almost always feels like it's at capacity where it's hard to find an open machine or bench. NEVER pursue the training packages. The trainer turnover is super high and the gym only keeps 7-8 trainers on staff who all seem to have VERY limited availability. I've been through 3 trainers in 10 months (first quit the gym after only a few months on the job, the 2nd was placed on a mysterious leave of absence, 3rd only trains in the middle of the week days) and the gym has pushed me to continue getting new packages despite all this, my bad for trusting a gym that sells training packages to have trainers available to use the sessions. I've made many, many attempts to get a 4th trainer, the location employees, including the General Manager as well as the SoCal Group corporate employees are all ignoring my very patient requests for help. I even asked if they would transfer the value of the unused training packages ($880+) toward my monthly gym membership fee which would effectively lock me into a year and a half membership to which they declined. I asked for value transfer toward literally any other service, I'd start tanning if it meant I could make use of an investment I made, but they refuse.Absolutely tread carefully with the fitness managers, they will push you into these training packages and then leave you high and dry.

First of ALL, I'll say it again as I've stated a million times. I LOVE GOLD GYM simply because amenities other gyms in LA do not have. I have left several reviews before and this one is based on my experience a few days ago. Also Loving this gym comes comes with having a lot patience for the stuff that is often broken and my most recent experience at the Hollywood experience: My 'home" gym is DTLA but a few days ago the toilets were clogged and the showers were shut off - I wanted to get the whole experience that I'm used to, I usually workout followed by jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and shower so I decided to blindly go to Hollywood location as its also fairly closer. Before I left DTLA location I spoke to front desk and they confirmed I can visit the Hollywood's location 16 times if I'd like so As I walk-in to Hollywood location I express my situation and the front desk man says I cannot come in because I don't have a picture and if I have questions " my boss is right there fixing the golds gym apparel" when you're checking in you have to get out of the way because we have guests coming in so I moved to the side and the manager approached me and again she said "if he says we need to take a picture you cannot come in without doing so" So I said, yes but can we take it after once I don't look terrible, I did look terrible by the way. She said "we need it for legal purposes". I was tired, I had been to two gyms in two hours -- Look, rules are rules, I respect you. but as a Manager myself for my company this is how I would have handled the situation.." Hi! I'm sorry to hear about the clogged situation in the restrooms in our DTLA sister gym - we apologize for the inconvenience, thank you for choosing to visit us here in Hollywood (FOR ONE DAY) . Basically what the front desk needs in order to check you in is a picture attacked to your profile, looks like DTLA might of forgotten or since they see you everyday they already know you but since you've never been here before we want to make sure we have profiles attached to the correct guest to avoid someone else using it on your behalf, by the way if you want to fix your hair we have a mirror here next to the apparel section and let me know when you are ready, I'd be happy to help you."WHY would you use LEGAL words so lightly --- "we need your picture for legal purposes" without a real explanation if you're gonna use legal just like that bring out some paper work in writting -- as a Manager she could of avoided ALL that by knowing how to handle the situation that LEGAL word caused unecessary stress for the guest (ME) causing confusion language and all I wanted was to workout and shower. I won't be coming back to this location - I was also disappointed that this location doesn't haves jacuzzi and the sauna was also out of order. I still like this gym. Thank you Manager for your hospitality. I still went in and tried to workout but felt extremely uncomfortable.
