I've lived here a few months now. Love having a front desk person keeping the building secure. I love how quiet it is. It's centrally located to just about everything. The HMS Bounty restaurant and bar is attached and great, A great diverse cast of characters live here. All stripes and colors. It's great. Polly is always downstairs asleep in a chair, stop by and say hi if she's awake. The fitness area consists of a broken workout machine with caution tape around it. 24/7 laundry. Packages are delivered securely and locked up for you to pickup. No more front porch bandits. The garbage can on the corner of the block on Wilshire and Alexandria was burned to the ground by a drugged out hobo and now people are throwing trash into the nub of what's left of the can. Tons of good food around here. Korean and otherwise. H Mart is close by and has bananas for 10 cents each, which is unheard of. The 7-11 has a man who opens the door for you when you are walking in. Fancy. No complaints the building is old and cool and I like it.

New management for this building that just took over raised the price for bachelor units (no kitchen) from $1k to a minimum of $1200 and up just like that... That's a 20% increase and according to the City this building is rent controlled so that would be an illegal increase... Unless there is a misunderstanding what new management is doing is not OK at all...

This place used to be great. The old manager before covid took care of everything. The new management CALCAP can't even keep the same manager here for more than a handful of months. There are currently MANY issues in the building that have gone unresolved for years now including roaches, non-potable water, flooding from bursting pipes and the roof, the heating doesn't even work, your chances of getting stuck in the elevator are high, mold, and many more legal issues. As someone who has lived here a while, I'm not in a position to move, but if you're looking to move into this building- RUN.

I would strongly advise speaking to current, long-term tenants of this building before considering moving here. Hang out at the bar of the HMS Bounty (entrance in Gaylord lobby or on Wilshire) long enough and you'll meet some. I've lived here many years and it was once wonderful, but has fallen into disrepair in recent years under the current management company. There are active plumbing issues, flooding issues, leaking ceilings, the heat goes out for weeks during the winter with no explanation, bed bugs, and roaches currently in the building. Not everyone has these issues, but many do and they're not easily resolved (if at all) under current CalCap management. These issues began when a new management company took over shortly before the pandemic, and the acting manager changes very often. Take any promises and assurances from the current manager with a grain of salt. I would not recommend this building to a friend. Plenty of better options in Koreatown for better prices.

5 starts are clearly not from people who actually have lived here.Reading the real reviews gives me empathy for the woman on the 12th floor who leaves her windows wide open with the lights on at night every night with all of her messy apartment visible. Assuming now that the view might be the only thing she has to look forward to poor thing.

Beautiful property! I love this historic building and the fact that they celebrate their history with some fascinating exhibits. The lobby is also very charming and the staff are friendly as well as helpful.

Viewed the website for an apartment. Filled out application and holding fee to view apartment. Never received a call or verification for viewing. They charged $154 for the application and holding fee. 2 weeks later I called to see what was going on and was told apartments not available due to transfer/ changing management company.I stop payment of $154, for them to only reverse charges stating duties were rendered.Scam company, stay very far away from this apartment and do not pay until viewing of such apartment.

My review is not on the Gaylord Apartments (I will adjustor delete this review when there is some kind of resolution on this matter) but to caution people to be VERY CAREFUL on sites such as Rent Cafe, etc. because they are using Gaylord's old (CALCAP) property management who are STILL taking application/holding fees. I spoke with someone at the complex and he said they were trying to get them to take it down but so far they have not done so. It is highly unethical, to say the least, for CALCAP to be taking money when Gaylord is not even accepting new renters at the moment as they are undergoing renovations.

Come for the Gay, stay for the Lord. The adjacent pirate pirate bar serves ample grog at a steep price, but it was worth it because they allowed me to lose my virginity in the water closet. Now I am out of my personal closet. 5 stars.

It is easy to fine public transportation, restaurants, close to downtown, it is kind to safe, diversity on tenants, facilities are good, also free utilities in special historic area.

The building, however historic and grandiose, has lost its luster. The hallways much like most of its apartments, are out of a horror movie, eerie, dirty, dusty. This is most definitely not the place to be.

I recently moved into this building back in October And I am still very happy with my decision. I always feel safe I love that we have a front desk attendant 24 hours a day to check in your packages and help you with anything else. The history of the building is amazing and the units are even more luxurious! #Extendedstay

I must say Albert was absolutely amazing, it was a pleasure sitting with him and visiting the Gaylord Apartments. Albert took the time to go over the entire property with me, he did not leave one stone unturned which is what I appreciated. He will take the time to answer every question that you have even if you don't think it's important. Every question to Albert is important. If you're looking for a place to live. I suggest that you make an appointment and go visit the Gaylord Apartments. Trust me you will NOT regret it. Please remember to ask for Albert.

I was yelled at and disrespected by the "covering junior district manager" Albert from Arizona, from mocking the prior property manager from being fired on June Wednesday 23. 2021 to then today Monday 28, June 2021 saying I know what Antoinette felt this is a lot of work! will be writing my horrible traumatizing experience of treatment in looking for a place at the Gaylord under this management, all I heard was Albert complaining about his work, I asked Albert directly as he humiliated in front of two gentlemen if he can provide me contact information for his supervisor and he refused, I asked one more time is there a rule where it is not possible to receive this? And he became more agitated and said really nasty things I will be sending all my experience to the calcap properties higher ups, unprofessional and short tempered, I asked the the maintenance tech who was in the next room and realized he was listening to everything I asked him if he can provide me information and he wouldn't even look up, Albert said he's my employee and threaten me to escort me out once I was making myself out as I was uncomfortable, Disgusting human being. Threaten to speak to owner as well as his manager about me. Evil @ bipolar I have been trying to contact him for the past 3 business days and I never received a call, I left work early to speak to him and he was not happy I came.
