I have to change this to a two because of lack of communication and intrusive noise.
Last week I submitted yet another request regarding ambient noise levels from the generators and machines near the top of the building. I live on the 11th floor and the ambient noise before 7AM is already at 45-50dB. When this was mentioned, I was told this is expected because those are quieter hours. To that I would simply state, the ordinance is that the noise be below 45dB before 7AM. If it's above that, YOU need to work on noise reduction not tell tenants that it's expected. It's not.
It's very loud all day and while it might technically be at legal levels on my floor (bordering and questionable), given how loud it is I would put money on it being above the permitted level on the 12th floor. I have had no follow-up beyond "we'll see what we can do about it" and closing the ticket. If that's going to continue to be the case, I'm happy to go to every apartment upstairs and take a reading to submit to the housing department in a formal complaint.
There are simple solutions to reducing the noise, one of which would be providing proper insultation along the fencing. There are maybe three reduction panels on the fencing surrounding it all, which essentially covers nothing.
I've called at the starting hours of operation multiple times this week and have not been able to reach anyone. I understand that Essex Property is an exploitative employer that has a staff that's stretched thin, but when there is never anyone to answer a phone call you begin to wonder what is going on.
I am more than happy to be a nuisance and organize tenants if this is not fixed. (:
Knocking another star because the response was to close the ticket and then send an email telling me to go to security should the noise occur again. What is so difficult about sending someone from maintenance to the apartment to better understand the problem being reported? They're increasingly not available by phone as well which is ridiculous.

Great building! My apartment is very clean and quiet. Hardly ever hear any noise. Staff is great and my maintenance requests usually get resolved within less than 24 hrs. Ozzie is great when I have any questions or concerns. Would definitely recommend this timeless building.

Wasn't the easiest to get in contact with the correct person during the application and move in process. But now that I have moved in, Carina has been responsive and answered my Q's as I am new to this building. Just wanted to give her a shoutout!

I cannot express enough gratitude for Abraham's exceptional service during a recent maintenance emergency. My kitchen sink was overflowing, with water consistently rising out of the drain. I placed an emergency night request and Abraham was quick to respond.
Not only did Abraham have to deal with my apartment flooding, but he also had to address the same issue in the unit beside mine. Despite the chaos, Abraham remained calm, swiftly assessed the situation, skillfully resolved the problem, and left the place spotless afterward!
What truly stood out was Abraham's delightful demeanor throughout the entire ordeal. He was a pleasure to speak with, and his professionalism and efficiency were truly commendable.
Thank you so much, Abraham, for your prompt response, exceptional service, and positive attitude. I sincerely appreciate all that you did to resolve the situation swiftly and effectively.

An insecure, unstaffed, roach-ridden building that is run by a real estate corporation which has been increasingly cutting corners for years.
Even the laundry rooms have roaches. Package room is burglarized monthly, at least. Stay away.

There are two shining stars of Gas Company Lofts. One is Melissa in customer support, who is always responsive, good humored, capable and just plain great at her job. It is always a pleasure dealing with her. The other is Abraham in maintenance. It seems like he is always working and he is always getting the job done in high style. These two hard working people are saving the reputation of Essex. The corporate office often drops the ball but the folks on the front lines like Melissa and Abraham are always there to pick it up and save the day.

The management team is terrible. They don't reply to emails, they have caller ID and will not answer your phone calls. You can leave voicemails and they won't reply back. The only way I ever get through is if I eventually call and reach out to the corporate location for Essex Community. They do not treat their renter's with very much courtesy whatsoever.

DO NOT MOVE HERE. Your packages will be stolen, the fire alarm will go off many times a month, it will take weeks to get the building to respond to any questions or requests, the security is only there 40% of the time, your rent will be jacked up the maximum possible each year, the utilities are extremely high, and the larger management company is soulless. I was a tenant for 2 years and they went through so many different management changes and I kept hoping for the best but left mad that I ever trusted it would get better. BEWARE.

NOT WORTH IT !!!The only positive thing I can say about the building the staff on site and maintenance. When you talk to them they actually take care of set issue1.The place is run down with poor upkeep, elevators down all the time.2.They have changed security companies serveral times over the course of my lease term here and they are rarely at the front door, when entering through the main door at night.3. You can't talk to anyone at the office. You call, they rarely pick up and you get some text days later saying to "give them a call about your concerns". Not having staff on-site to take care of issues for the sake of cutting costs is not helping, and with Ray now leaving due to "budget cuts" in a few days its going to get worse. I have reached out about being charged for for a fee all year that I shouldn't have been charged and they yet have to reach out after I provided actual documents for proof.4. I've seen homeless and suspicious people in the elevators, even upstairs by the pool area. Assuming they were showering.5. I have found fruit flies and roaches coming out of my bathroom area and the floor I live on is pretty elevated, I rarely open my windows since I'm running the ac and air purifier all day.My lease is up end soon and I can't wait to leave this dump. Do yourselves a favor. Don't let the low price entice you, that will cost you your peace of mind. They are fast to respond to negative reviews online but can't seem to respond to any tenant related issues. They will just tell you to reach out to them.
