Your typical neighborhood market formerly known as Hum's Market now Choice Market with a meat counter so you have your choice from ground beef, oxtails, bacon, chicken, turkey wings and etc. Many of the shoppers are local lottery players or neighbors that don't have easy access to a supermarket because Food 4 less is about a mile away. It's fast and convenient but expect to pay a convenience fee on certain grocery items. Service is ok and they can be friendly once they get to know you. Many people like myself come here to purchase lottery tickets. They are open every holiday but if it's slow they will close early. Don't forget just like any store to check the labels and expiration dates. FYI, They do NOT sell alcohol, beer, wine or spirits. Powerball winner sold here!

This market is a gem. The fresh meat is all a soul food kitchen would need for a feast. Top off with the butcher service and you will need a wheelbarrow. Fresh cut oxtails, fresh chitterlings and all different Louisiana hot links. Anybody ever heard of baby turkey wings. It's all here. The rest of the store is soul gourmet and everyday items. Even got me a winning scratch-off.

Signs outside misleads hard to read prices. Very tight quarters. Meats counter looked very fresh. Service, all seem uptight.

I went to Choice Market 1-29-21. I asked for four one pound bags of Pastrami. The butcher questioned whether I was expecting to pay about $50.00. I told him that I would pay for it. I pointed out the Pastrami that I wanted him to slice on. He stacked another piece of pastrami that was fatter on top of the piece that I chose and said the other piece gives the meat flavor. No wonder why minority communities have diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and all other things associated with poor quality of food. The butcher also answered his cell phone twice while he helped me and I didn't see him wash his hands. He did not price the meat individually. He took the meat to the cashier and she rang up the bill. There was an element of mistrust and a great need for customer service training.
