So angry and so disappointed. Contacted Childs on Monday for a pretty simple move to Pasadena and was happy they had availability at 9am on Thursday. I had three desks, some unfinished wood and a few small boxes in Burbank, plus a Queen-sized mattress, broken-down bed and a few miscellaneous pieces in Mt. Washington-- all in all after I did a lot myself, it was much less than a studio bedroom. Simple stuff and I didn't have any lifting help to simply rent a U-Haul myself. Come Thursday morning, I was ready and waiting at the warehouse in Burbank at 8:50am. The day before I had stripped my bed, broken it down and had to stay at my girlfriend's house (closer to Burbank and because I couldn't stay at home any more). After not receiving a reply to my check-in text at 8am, I called at 9:15am to ask about status. No answer. A few minutes later I got a call back. I was told someone didn't show up to work and asked if they could reschedule to that afternoon. Usually that would be okay, but this is the penultimate day of my lease and I had to be at my new place in Pasadena by 10am to let contractors and SoCalGas inspectors in... and be there all day letting people in and out. The whole day was planned around the move and they were a no-show at the last minute. In the end I asked how much it would be simply to have them move my mattress from Mt. Washington to Pasadena (the one item at my old house I really needed help with) and was told "we still have a two-hour minimum ($220)." No thank you. Do not use Childs. The reviews of unreliability are unfortunately correct. Which is such a shame because I'd heard good things about moves from three or four years ago and they're a local company.

Absolutely the best. They worked their butts off. I was surprised by the low price. Friendly. Polite.They are an icon in Highland Park for almost a hundred years.There's Bekins and then there's Childs.Send all your moving to them. I hope they go another 90 years.

My husband and I decided to contract Childs Moving company a week and half before our moving date. Christina who is the owners daughter booked our appointment and gave us quotes for the pricing . Everything seemed great. Until a day before when she calls me and says if we can reschedule. I told her no rescheduling a move is pretty unreal . Once your moving date is set theirs no turning back. Christina's excuse was that the company had doubled booked everyone and so we had to pay the price of their double booking . This company left us in the air with no moving services we are scrabbling around trying to find another company. This company is NOT reliable AT ALL...How can you run a company treating your customers like this. Child's has caused us A MAJOR HEADACHE!!!!! Don"t book them!!! Trust!!!

By far the best moving company I have ever used. THEY SAVED ME when the container company I had reserved refused to deliver to my location. Since I am moving out of state I had reserved a 27' container to be loaded and then picked up to move out of state. Day of deliver I was told I would need to get a local mover to load up their truck and deliver it to the container location some 40 miles away. I had already reserved Childs Moving Co. to load up my container and then I called Christina with an urgent plea to help me get this stuff to the location. She said in a calming way "don't worry we've got this!" I needed to hear that since I only had 48 hours to leave the house. These people worked so hard (Sam ran the crew professionally and swiftly). When I had too much stuff for one truck the said "no problem." I was able to rent a UHAUL and drive with them to the container drop and they worked until 12 AM loading up the container. Their prices are fair and their service is beyond exceptional. I have other CA moves in my future that I will use them religiously. I cannot recommend them enough. They saved my life.

I scheduled a move with this company, two weeks prior to the day I needed to be out. The night before I received a call confirming the move but stating they would be 2 hours late (12 vs 10am) because they miss calculated the previous days job. I said fine but emphasized I needed to be out that day.15 minutes after the rescheduled time I received a phone letting me know they would not be there, but they MIGHT be able to reschedule in a week!After I reached out to the owner (grandfather), he said I should try other companies. When I called back to try to get any support I was repeatedly sent to voicemail.My son and I were forced to find day laborers and rent trucks. I’ve never driven a large box truck before. A few of my neighbors came to assist. We finally went to sleep at 230am. Woke up to finish unloading the truck.Bottom line. DO NOT Trust this company with your move! Pay an extra few hundred dollars for piece of mind and reliability.

By far the best moving company I've ever worked with. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would! Super quick service and I'll definitely use them each and every time. I can't recommend them enough ?

Unfortunately not a lot of great things to say here. Used this team of 3 for a move across town and had the following issues:- Poor packing skills. The team was unable to fit our 2 BR / 1BTH home into their truck. Leaving multiple trips for myself and partner in our own vehicles to collect the items left behind. Several assets were strapped to the back and underneath the truck making them full of soot by the time the truck arrived- Multiple broken items. Several of our pieces were broken loading into the house. Although the company sent someone to repair, he arrived a week later and didn't complete all repairs before leaving for the day, saying he'd be back in a few hours and never returning or responding to let us know as we were waiting at home for him all night.- Lost items. Bags of hardware were lost in transit, leaving us without a usable bed frame for over a week. When I called to ask that the hardware be replaced, I was told that it is not the company's responsibility and that we need to replace and rebuild the frame they disassembled on our own.- Damage to home. Floor boards, doors all cracked, dirty prints all over our walls. We'll have to pay to get this cleaned as well.I wish this had gone better, moving is already such a stressful event and trusting such a massive life event to a careless company has left us in shambles far longer than anyone should be.

Sam and Charlie did an awesome job. They did not slow their roll for a moment. Fast, courteous and efficient. Very mindful of treating our items gently. Arrived on time and went right to work. Price was more than fair compared to other quotes we received and Sam made sure to go over estimated costs before getting started. Great family business that does things the old fashioned way! I highly recommend you use them.

Recently found and was recommended from a friend to use this moving company. Friendly and informative staff with all the right supplies for a full move. Sam was very patient and helpful during our entire move. I was very stressed and under a lot of pressure to move and they made the whole move quickly and safely. All my items made it to my new home a few hours away In tack. I highly recommend this company for your moving needs. They're very patient and listen to what you need. 5 stars.

This company moved my mother 370 miles. They were a no show on one of the 3 days they promised to pack. They were packing till 100am keeping her up because of it! They didn't have enough room in their truck and left alot of her stuff behind promising to go back and get it. Now denying all responsibility. They broke items, dumped a bunch of boxes in the garage no labels and left her. This company is irresponsible, and they lie. Do not use them!!

This company moved my mother from Los Angeles to Arizona. Would not recommend this company under any circumstances. Lost furniture. No showed one day. We're supposed to meet us the morning we were leaving and no showed no called. Had to call the owner. They left the old house a complete mess, missed a significant amount furniture just left it in California and set up the minimum possible at end destination. Lost the glass for kitchen table. My biggest complaint is they take zero personal responsibility for what they say they're gonna do and what they actually do. When we brought up that they missed a significant amount of furniture the owners comment was "trucks full can't take any more" ....yeah that means you miscalculated!!I'd never in good conscious recommend this companyIn follow up they were supposed to come back and help her unpack the boxes they did not unpack and deliver what they missed ...not happening. We're supposed to help new owner move furniture out ..no call no showed on him as well. Zero integrity Don't use this companyAn update...as we unpack the house Very expensive collector items were not delivered No explanation. Items ER helad in the family for years and years only to get "ripped off by thisCorrupt people Never ever use good company
