This store is a gem in Little Tokyo. it reminds me of the quaint, endearing stores along the streets of Kyoto with curated items. I will definitely put this on my list as one of the must-sees and must-dos in DTLA.

Must visit in Little Tokyo! Precious business continuing history while updating their contents to what’s relevant to today’s audiences. Don’t forget to check out the second floor for old music cassette collections, handmade candles, and imported artisan goods from Japan.

Escalated my phone call on 21NOV to a manager, "Dane" for overall poor customer service who then accused me of being rude for just asking a simple question if you have your "Star and Garden" calendar in stock. The initial male clerk who had a strong accent first said, "no" and the same for the manager in which I had a doubt. Then, he said we have "Beauty and Garden" that arrived two days ago. Being unfamiliar and after demanding to be more descriptive finding him to be lazy, he became upset. Sounded like the same calendar and if so, then all he had to say is yes we do, but the title has slightly changed then I would understand. I always call before and their previous older generation staff answer with confidence prior to making my one hour drive to purchase annually for many years this popular kimono/Japanese garden calendar.Bunkado has gone downhill in service with this newer staff especially by "Dane" whose been a young manager for about a year who has "a lot to learn" that is incompetent, can not handle objections, "NEVER SAY YOU ARE RUDE" especially twice to a customer being an insult and wasted my time.

Very nice store. But definitely check out upstairs. Especially if you collect Anime Laserdisc. And mint Japanese music cassettes.

If you're looking for Japanese kettles, ceramics, incense, things like that, Bunkado is fantastic. It reminds me of the mom and pop shops of my childhood and prices aren't too bad. It's probably one of the few shops in Little Tokyo that feels really Japanese. Will be back to replenish my incense supply!

My favourite Japanese gift shop. Got some gorgeous clay cooking pots here made in Japan. Very lovely selection of items, I could easily spend an hour here looking. A must visit if you're in Little Tokyo.

Love this store. I always stop here when I visit Little Tokyo. The founder, Tokio Ueyama, was a fine artist. The store is still a family business. Their passion and taste shows through. It is truly curated, but quite affordable, and full of delightful surprises. I really enjoy shopping here.
