Dr. Kevin Schlanger is awesome vet, I can always get an appointment, the service is professional, excellent, and affordable, and the staff are super nice, even with my super anxious dog!

Dr. Schlanger neglected to inform me that my dog’s blood platelets were significantly low when we did her annual blood work with him last year in Spring of 2023. A year later, we did our annual blood work with him again, while also asking him to examine an unusual bulge in her abdomen. Once again, when the bloodwork came back her platelets were now appearing as dangerously low. The lab flagged the issue in the lab report but Dr. Schlanger reported to me that her blood work was all within the normal range. Thankfully, he shares the lab reports with patients so I took the time to go over it closely. When I noticed the lab’s note about her platelets, I reached out to Dr. Schlanger again. He indicated that there was a clot in her blood sample and that her platelets were probably fine (not considering that she was displaying symptoms of NOT being fine). I had to request that he re-examine her and do an ultrasound on her abdomen. Once he took this step, the doctor could see that her spleen was enlarged. He immediately referred me out to a more well-equipped veterinary hospital.
Fast forward to now, almost 4 weeks later, and my dog is in critical condition. She desperately needs a splenectomy but her platelets are so low it’s too risky to operate. She is not responding to the medical treatments to increase her platelets. I am extremely disappointed that her low platelets were not brought to my attention last year when they were higher and we could have given her the therapy she needed to maintain a healthy level of platelets, thus keeping her safe for surgery in the event of a complex injury. If Dr. Schlanger had taken more care with our blood work a year ago, my dog and I would not be going through this horrible experience now, stuck in a painful and lethal catch 22.
I do not recommend Dr. Schlanger’s practice as he does not appear to take health risks and blood work seriously. He takes an, “it’ll probably be okay” approach, even when all clinical signs are indicating otherwise. Sadly, my sweet dog may have to pay for this vet’s negligence with her life. I’m heartbroken.

Dr. Schlanger neglected to inform me that my dog's blood platelets were significantly low when we did her annual blood work with him last year in Spring of 2023. When I noticed the lab's note about her platelets, I reached out to Dr. Now, she is in critical condition because her body is not responding to the medication to increase her platelets. She desperately needs a splenectomy but due to her low platelets an operation is too risky! If Dr. Schlanger had taken care and analyzed the previous years blood work correctly, we would have treated the low platelets early on before they reached a critical low. I am very disappointed by the doctor's negligence and am heartbroken my dog is now in such a painful and potentially lethal catch 22. I do not recommend this practice, as Dr. Schlanger does not seem to take the health risks associated with blood health seriously. He takes an "it's probably fine" approach to his work. Therefore, he ignored one of the only early indicators of illness that we have for our pets, and now my dog may have to pay for his error with her life.

I took my dog Stormi Blu in today for a visit. Dr. Schlanger is so attentive, informative and all around a good human! There is no place I would take Stormi other then to this practice. I feel so safe knowing my Stormi is being taken care of properly and with care. The staff in the office are so helpful as well. Gina endured endless calls with me asking questions (I'm a new dog mom) and each call she handled with so much patience , understanding and kindness. Stormi Blu found our furrever vet and I couldn't be happier with choosing Brent-Air!

If you are looking for an honest, caring, brilliantly skilled vet, Brent Air is for you... Dr. Schlanger couldn't be better at what he does. It's like the feel of a "small town" vet in a big city... a breath of fresh air from the corporate offices all over Los Angeles. I have been going here for years, with my cats and dogs, and have had nothing but wonderful care. I couldn't recommend them enough. (and as far as a few other reviews I have read... it's been rough to keep help since the pandemic. So if someone answering the phone isn't "perfect" maybe cut the business a little slack and chalk it up to life post Covid)

I really really like Dr Schlanger as a vet however the way they run things and the front desk lady leave something to be desired. Last time I was there Dr Schlanger was out of the office and I saw a fill in vet. The problem is they don't explain any charges to you and then charge your card on file without discussing charges with you or getting permission for things. I had asked them to check my dogs anal glands and also check my dogs ears to make sure there was no infection. Then without discussing with me first, charged me $40 to express the anal glands and another $65 to wash out the ears which I discovered only after they emailed the invoice. $115 for those two things without letting you know that it's an additional charge seems super sketchy. I'm super bummed because Dr. Schlanger is a great vet who is not an alarmist and isn't always telling you to do a bunch of things that are unnecessary. I just really wish the front desk staff was more communicative and took more care with charging clients credit cards and the lady that answers the phone isnt friendly. Also we are out of covid now so we should be able to accompany our dogs into the office.

I started bringing my dog to this vet during the pandemic. The car system they set up was pretty good and after a couple of visits, I felt very comfortable using their services. Then, they moved closer to my home, so bonus! While most other vets are in-person now, you still have to hand your pet over to a tech without actually ever seeing a vet or seeing what the new place looks like on the inside. Recently, I got an email saying that it was time for my dog to get a vaccination and get more flea meds. When I took him in, I also requested a nail trim. When they brought my dog back, they trimmed all but one nail, but that is not a big deal, and handed me the flea meds. Because I have a credit card on file, they charge the card and until now, that was fine. I assumed the charges would be minor since the services were tech services only. When I got home and looked at the bill online, it was $1500.00!!! When I called to inquire about this, they said that I authorized the charges (I did not). They authorized themselves to do some bloodwork and some other expensive stuff. How do I know they really did any of this work? They did finally send me the results of the tests: Results all negative for the tests I did not authorize. I just got an email saying it is time for an wellness exam (really...didn't you just do a $1500 wellness exam?) and a teeth cleaning. I am trying to decide if I will continue to use this vet. Their bait-and-switch game may be too fierce for me and I no longer want to just hand my dog over to a tech without seeing a vet. At some point they will have to open their doors. I am willing to mask-up when coming into their offices, but I am not willing to be scammed again.

I no longer go to this vet anymore. I called for an emergency appointment beca one of my dog had a stroke and staff was apathetic (to be generous) they said "oh that happens" and offered me an appointment for a week later - they didn't off an emergency appointment and acted like I was entirely inconveniencing them for asking for a wait list or recommendations to an emergency clinic - this was after my dog had been a patient for for 8 years. Luckily a friend was able to secure a spot with her vet for us - I switched and haven't looked back!
