I’ve read some poor reviews on here so I wanted to make sure and chime in. I have been seeing Dr Defoto for many years. After living outside of LA for 6 years I recently came back last year and have been to the office three times since being back. Every visit continues to be perfect. All staff are always very friendly and punctual, and Defoto is awesome as always.

My only thought is that at one point in these people’s jobs or professional careers..they experience what it’s like to be so sick that you can’t get out of bed, walk or make a meal, or take care of them selves! I’ve been struggling for so long and I thought this place would be better than cedars or Kaiser. It just seems anytime I advocate for my self, it seems to be an issue. I am just so tired of being sick. At this point I just want to give up!

I saw Sergio Hurtado February 3rd, 2022 because of an injury I had December 3rd, 2021. He had been my primary for about a year. I was already healing from a significant injury before having a second one.
The new injury was during a massage session. The injury tore my linea alba and rectus sheathes off my chest wall, herniated two organs, caused nerve damage, traumatized my diaphragm and created a condition called MALs, or celiac artery compression which almost completely shut down my GI. It took me over a year to get all these diagnoses.
Reviewing Hurtado's notes It appears he wasn't even paying attention. He notes onset of abdomen injury was "gradual 1 year ago" when I told him it happened last year, In December 2021. He notes "pain is intermittent when working out" which is incorrect since I hadn't been able to work out in a decade because of the previous injury, and pain was not intermittent, it was constant. He notes my chiropractor injured my brachial plexus, which is not what I told him, I had a brachial plexus avulsion from the first injury in 2010, and the subsequent notes about my treatment are also wrong.
He was very slow referring me to treatment and I had to beg 3 times to get him to refer me to a surgeon. He finally referred me to a knee, ankle, shoulder specialist, again like he wasn't paying attention or cared at all, or deliberately sent me to the wrong surgeon out of spite.
Through 2022 I would visit the ER 3 more times, and about 15 other Dr.'s and specialists who all labeled me as panicky, anxious and said my symptoms were psychosomatic. I had difficulty breathing, speaking, couldn't eat or drink anything for days, couldn't sleep or have a bowel movement, and was suffering overwhelming pain and brain fog. At the end of 2022, and early January 2023 I finally met the Dr.'s who gave me the tests to confirmed a diagnosis for MALS. Nerve damage, trauma to the diaphragm, shutdown of the GI. And received diagnosis for a diastasis recti, rectus sheathes torn from chest wall, two herniations, and damage to my rectus abdominis muscle.
Unfortunately, because of lack of timely care from Hurtado, Men's Health, and mental health stigma leading to profiling and discrimination from many of the Dr.'s and surgeons I saw, I did not receive adequate, humane, or timely care.
The soft tissue component of the injury worsened, tore across my chest wall, shut down my obliques and transversus muscles and caused so much global laxity through my whole body that I now have problems just standing and walking. I also felt my skin slowly rip off of the fascia layer it's attached to, because that layer was ripping open over my chest and abdomen. This was excruciatingly painful, and now my skin is loose and unnaturally stretchy everywhere in my body. It also still hurts to sit, lay down and lean against objects like there is a lot of scabby sandpapery wounds under my skin.
I had a serious injury that had a small window to be cared for and treated to heal from. It needed help, in early February. Timely care is crucial to be able to identify and fix injury. Now my injuries may be irreparable. I had almost completed a 10 year journey to fix my prior injury, and I feel robbed of that, getting my career back on track, getting my fitness goals back.
I don't know what else to say. I lost 3 years of my life fighting for humane treatment. This is where it started. This is where it should've ended.

This has to do with the valet area. I realized when I went to my eye doctor, I didn’t have any cash to give them a tip. They had removed the ATM machine, and I asked if I could have money to tip the valet when I paid my parking bill. They said that they don’t do that.
I went to the little diner in there and asked them if I could buy something and get a tip payout and they said they don’t do that. I went to the pharmacy and they told me there was a bank across the street. I’m currently walking with a cane so it was quite an effort to get across Sunset Boulevard on a busy rush-hour evening and get back to them.
I went to the Comerica bank and withdrew $800 from the ATM. I went to the teller and asked to break one to 20s into a 10 and two fives and he said that he couldn’t do that unless I had an account there. I said I just withdrew money from your ATM and I just wanted one $20 bill broken. The manager came over and said the same thing. I had to open an account in order for them to break a 20. Do not bank anyone please. I walked back, bought soda in the diner and then tip the valet.

This place is great for your basics. They have STI testing and treatment down. However, when it comes to anything else that’s when it’s a problem.I usually see Dr. Hurtado. He’s cool, very in n out vibe - I get it we all just wanna go home. It’s efficient.I saw Dr. Tran today because I’ve had a 103 fever for 3 days now. It went down to 100 while I was there. He had very poor bedside manners. Told me I didn’t have a fever and I could even go back to work if I just wear a mask. He made me feel like I was being dramatic for coming into the office to be seen. Dismissive really. He ordered Covid and Flu tests. Both were negative so I asked if he can order a strep test before I’m sent home with no answers or treatment. It came back positive. Do better girl.

My doctor is great, the people I have spoken to in person at the location are great, the people who answer the phones are just awful and borderline evil. No respect, won’t let you talk, don’t listen to you, make assumptions, and straight up lie. I called to setup an appt because I may have an emergency and said many times I would pay out of pocket in necessary, two different “ladies” went out of their way to make me feel like that wasn’t even an option. When it’s your life and your health on the line to be treated this way in beyond unacceptable. I just started going here and chose this place because I expected to be treated fairly and like a human being but I’m getting the impression that that wholly depends on who you talk to. I don’t want to but I may have to find another GP. If I can’t even setup an appt that is a VERY big problem. Very disturbing.

Few red flags about this clinic:- Receptionist seemed over it and uninterested in my presence- Doctor also seemed over-it and only had to say that my BMI is high (I work out 4 days week)- Nurse who drew my blood hurt me; I had never experienced pain getting blood drawn before- Nurse scheduled me for an appt no one had a clue what for- Nurse called day of my appt to ask me why I was coming in (how do they not know?)- When I show up, they say it's too soon to be seen even though they could've told me that when they called me- Nurse was not accommodating to how I would like to be treated (which I have been treated this way before)- Nurse (who is a woman) tried to educate me on basic men's health like I am not a man who has come in for 10+ years to get routine visits, screenings, and follow-ups. (to be fair, at this point I was just annoyed at everything)- When I messaged doctor about my experience and asked what other clinics I can go to instead, he did not respond to my message. It's been about two weeks. My general conclusion: This clinic has a huge management issue and does not care about public health. They need new leadership and stronger policy about what's acceptable service and care.

i called the receptionist to confirm my insurance. she took my info and said she would get back to me which she didn’t. I called 2 weeks later to remind her as I urgently needed to see a doctor while suffering my illness. I was trying to explain to her that I use to go there a few years back when this nice guy was the receptionist and approved the same insurance I have which is a PPO open network and taken everywhere. she hung up on me and didn’t bother to run my information since she didn’t have time to do an extra step for a patient.,

I think Linda Blair said it best as Ragen in THE EXORCISt before she urinated gray pee all over the Persian Rug, You’re all gonna die up there” I wish I were kidding. God, where do I start, Tony Mills is a sadist Fraud who should be in prison but is too backed by his Big Pharmaceutical Money Daddies Gilead that have made him very wealthy and unfortunately for any patient or person that works for him - very powerful. His arms are long and destructive. If I detailed what has happened to me in last six years you wouldn’t believe it. I sometimes can’t wrap my head around how this posing IML fraud has smiled and chuckled, with a smidge of self pity party gloss, has maneuvered his way past every roadblock, every medical board, all required degrees (which he does not possess.) into becoming a truly evil mover and shaker. He’s paid them all off to get what he could never earn. I don’t even go to that part of town anymore - he’s truly Rosemary’s Baby. Check the eyebrows- that should tell you everything u need to know. What can say other than : GET OUT !
