Most obnoxious store owner we experienced. Make sure you have (or pretend to have) the funds for a Steinway. Chrissy won’t give you the time of her day otherwise. We came in after making an appointment. Chrissy was loudly chatting with a potential “rich” Asian customer on random topics not related to piano or music at all, and left us waiting for 45 minutes. We eventually left never even get to ask questions during our appointment. My daughter is a very advanced piano player. Unfortunately for Steinway, this owner is more into making $$ rather than working with young pianists who actually play the piano. We eventually bought a very good grand from Colton Piano where the owner is genuine and sincere, knowledgeable to all brands of piano.

Meeting Chrissy during a serendipitous break between showing appointments at the Steinway showroom was an absolute stroke of luck! My colleague Stacie, had been searching for a piano for a while, and the excitement in her eyes was palpable as we entered the showroom.Chrissy's knowledge of Steinway pianos was nothing short of impressive. She effortlessly guided us through the various models, sharing valuable insights and comparisons that made the decision-making process much easier. Her passion for these instruments shone through in every detail she shared, and it was clear that she genuinely loved her work. But beyond her expertise, Chrissy's friendly and personable nature made the whole experience truly enjoyable. We found ourselves engaged in lively conversations with her, laughing and sharing stories as if we were old friends. It was evident that she not only excelled at her job but also had a genuine desire to connect with her customers and make their piano-buying journey special. If you find yourself in the market for a Steinway piano, I wholeheartedly recommend seeking out Chrissy at the showroom here in Los Altos. Her expertise, combined with her infectious joy and genuine love for the pianos, will undoubtedly make your experience unforgettable. We're grateful for the encounter and can't thank Chrissy enough for making it such a memorable and positive one.

During the covid lockdown my wife and I decided to re-engage our piano practice once again. We played on a digital piano I had with me since post-college days. After a few months we got a card in the mail indicating that the Steinway piano gallery was open again for in person appointments only. On a whim we decided to pay a visit. My wife called to schedule an appointment with Chrissy, the manager, and it was a really straightforward process. She asked a few questions around our interest in Steinway, what models we may be considering, and for whom is the piano being purchased for. We soon realized that these are reasonable questions to better understand the buyers intent. We showed up during our appointment time and Chrissy was there to welcome us to the gallery. We had the whole gallery to ourselves. The various models of interest were already prepared and Chrissy spent sometime explaining the value and artistry of Steinway before demonstrating the instruments to us. Chrissy is quite the pianist and can make each pianos sing. We had plenty of time to explore the pianos of interest. We left feeling very satisfied as we experienced the Steinway sound. There was absolutely no pressure to buy.

I had visited several Steinway stores/dealers in the Western region, but I decided to purchase a brand new Steinway Model M Spirio r from this gallery with assistance from Chrissy Huang during the 2021 holiday season. In summary, it was the most customer oriented service and personalized shopping experience I have ever received. Additionally, everything promised by Chrissy was delivered, on-time, flawlessly.I walked into the gallery on a very short-notice appointment with some detailed questions initially, then learned from Chrissy that a Steinway piano with further specifications are available (not everything is listed on the online catalogue); Chrissy provided some detailed insights to clarify my decision. In the end, a few weeks later, I took a delivery of a piano that personally speaks to me. Highly recommended.

I had an uncomfortable experience when scheduling an appointment with the sales manager in this store. On Monday, I submitted an inquiry online for the sales events that will happen during this weekend. The store manager from Las Altos called me back. After brief greetings, she introduced me how transparent the company's pricing policy is, and then asked me a bunch of questions, including what's my budget? the model I am interested in? I told her right away that I actually want to visit the Walnut Creek store and I am interested in the pre-owned 1983 model s listed on their website. She went over its pricing with me. Then I asked her if I could see this particular piano in person. Then she asked me "would you need to try the piano before you decide to buy it?" I said "Yes, of course." Then she told me at the time that she didn't know where this piano would be located during the sales event. She also kindly promised me that she will call me back once she figures it out. So I waited until Thursday and realized that no one, in fact, was going to call me back, feeling quite surprised at that moment. Since the sales event was approaching, I called the Walnut Creek store directly. The funny thing is that they confirmed with me that this particular piano is right there in their store since it has been listed on the website, which invalidates what she had said previously--the Walnut Creek store only sells one type of brand-new piano. Now the situation is that the staff in the Walnut Creek store thinks that I should work with the sales in the Las Alto store as they called me first. But they don't have the piano I am interested in. I was very shocked and frustrated because the sales manager Chrissy Huang in the Las Altos store lied to me over the phone and completely disrupted my schedule. It felt as if I was back-stabbed by a stranger for no reason. The bottom line is that she can tell me she won't be able to help me out with my purchase and/or transfer me to the Walnut Creek store. It's unprofessional and dishonest that one promises things on one hand and shows one's passive aggression by neglecting my request and phone calls on the other hand.Honestly, I don't think I would ever purchase pianos in the bay area Steinway stores. After reading others' reviews, I think my experience somewhat resembles others'. Trying out the piano you will take home makes a whole lot of sense, especially for Steinways, as each of their pianos is different. Musicians with fine sensitivities would notice the difference on tone and touches right away. No one wants to buy a piano that has lower quality than what they paid for. You really need to carefully examine the piano you plan to purchase.Sellers who don't allow customers to try out piano are the ones who want to make quick and easy money. Buyers should always avoid sellers who doublespeak or cheat. No one is interested in playing "catch me if you can" when purchasing a piano.

We have always had great experience with this gallery, especially with its manager Chrissy Huang, since the purchase of our first piano (a Boston upright) and then recent upgrade to Steinway Model M Spiro R. Chrissy was very professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. She gave us great advice that would best suit our needs instead of trying to push the more expensive options. She went way above our expectations to ensure the whole experience of having a beautiful and beautifully tuned piano in our home. Our experience has enhanced our impression of the Steinway brand.

They don't take you seriously if you're inquiring about renting a piano. Chrissy Huang reached out to me several days after I made an inquiry from the Steinway website. Despite already being clear that I was seeking a rental instrument, her initial email asked about things that I had already stated in my initial inquiry form such as my background with piano, as well as the kind of instrument I was looking for. It's clear that I was just being sized up to see whether I was a prospective buyer or not. I just don't understand why advertise rentals when they clearly don't value rental clients equally...

We visited this store yesterday to try pianos, as we are considering upgrading. We made an appt. (necessary during the pandemic), and the manager, Chrissy, was very accommodating. When we arrived, she was professional but very warm. We talked for a bit and learned so much from her before we even tried any of the pianos. Because the primary pianist in our family is my 9-year-old son, he was the one who tried the pianos, and I feared she might not take us very seriously as he's just a young kid, but that wasn't the case at all. She was so kind, complimentary, and encouraging. She is an accomplished pianist herself, and she also played for us. Overall, a wonderful experience!
