RUDE, INCONSIDERATE AND AWFUL MEMBER SERVICES!! I have Serious Spine and Spinal Cord Surgery on June 19th 2023 and was supposed to start Specializes Phys Therapy 3 weeks after to restore use of my legs and arm, it's been almost TWO MONTHS without Physical Therapy! I was sent authorization to a "PT" facility near me that refused, saying (rudely) they weren't taking new patients, backed up OVER a Month and to request another! I looked for another, and could ONLY FIND nearby specialist PT Facilities that were "out of Network" (Monarch Group). I spoke to one very nearby and they said they would take an Out of Network Authorization a d start me within a Week! I filed a Grievance and an Appeal with SCAN to get this PT Facility and SCAN REFUSED to "Expedite" my Appeal, saying Spine and Cord Surgery PT was NOT URGENT!! Can you believe that?? I will be Suing SCAN and I can guarantee you I will be switching to another Seniors Medicare Advantage Plan Company in December who uses anyone other than Monarch/Optum Medical Network!! SCAN Sucks, DON'T Chose Them!!

So far so good! Very happy with this new insurance for my 80 year old mother. Got her out of awful Kaiser Medicare and switched to SCAN. Kaiser is useless for the elderly. I think they’d rather let a senior citizen die.

the best service I have ever received was at Palomar in Escondido.the worst was with Graybill's dr. I was feeling very tired and my wife made an appointment with a new dr. He said I was fine but will have a cardiac surg. see me next week, he mentioned that my pulse was rather weak. My wife who is a doc.found my pulse was under 30 rushed me to Palomar where the triage took one look at me and threw me on a gurney rushing me to an OR where a pacemaker was installed. she said I was dead for a short time.Sharp had the best of everything. I am sorry I had to change.

SCAN is on the front line of responsibility for the plans they promote. The quality of care I've experienced from Providence Health is beyond substandard. They tell me I can switch doctors, but will it be more of the same?

It shouldn't be so difficult and complicated to simply schedule an appointment with a primary doctor. A few hours of clicking through link after link and still no progress in reaching my primary doctor for an appointment? What have I signed onto? God help me if a medical emergency comes up.

SCAN is an excellent Health plan. The complaints listed online are unfair and the people posting them are confused with the way MAPD plans work. The problems are within the physicians office and the ability for those offices to submit requests for authorizations to the Medical Group in a timely and proper manner. Never, in 30 plus years have we had any issues with SCAN. In every case...surgeries, hospitalization, skilled nursing, home health, durable medical equipment, prescriptions, physical therapy and list goes on, SCAN was on top of it all!! SCAN is by far the easiest to work with. They have an excellent member service department that are in California, not outsourced to a foreign land with representatives that barely speak English. People writing reviews should educate themselves how managed care works before bashing the plan.

Been with Scan for more than fifteen years and never had a problem. The Doctors have alway been there for me. When I had a stroke five years ago, I was immediately hospitalized where I spent the next five days before being transferred to a rehab facility where're I was treated with compassion and professionalism. I was previously with Kaiser, and so glad I switched to Scan

I've read many of the reviews. Most of the negative comments are not SCAN's fault, but the doctor's or the medical group's. Medicare has strict rules and SCAN has to abide by them. My experience has been positive. If you are argumentative and not willing to listen, you will have a bad experience, no matter what plan you have.

SCAN Desert Health Plan Owner wants to claim the CareMore medical group hired by SCAN is responsible for the referral process. That's like Pres. Biden claiming he's not responsible for mishandling classified. The office staff messed up.On October 12th, TWO referrals were submitted to CareMore for approval.1st referral, for a podiatrist, gets me a March 2023 office visit.2nd referral, for a vascular surgeon, gets me a Dec. 29th ultrasound visit with a follow up doctor visit Jan. 2nd.Dissatisfied with their delayed care,my SCAN/ CareMore coverage ends Dec 31st.The Jan. 2nd visit and the March 2023 visit are NOT covered.See the "dodge the specialist" game they're playing? And their doing it against a diagnosis of PAD, or peripheral artery disease which has outcomes similar to heart disease. One could easily go 6 months before the office visit by the specialist.Hope it's nothing serious. Hope they catch it in timeYou get the picture. To add insult to grief CareMore sought to deny payment for 2 of my primary care office visits this year, visits which are covered in FULL by the SCAN plan with no copay. I was forced to write appeals letters to resolve THEIR billing errors. What a hassle.Scan Desert Health Plan/CareMore, by far, the worst Medicare Advantage Plan.Update: Resubmitted my referrals under my new plan. Had specialists authorized in 10 days, not the 3 months SCAN took.Today, February 17, 2023 I finally see the vascular surgeon for evaluation and treatment.Beats me why anyone would use SCAN.

Scan refuses to give me, a prior and present member of Scan, a current identification card. Customer Service told me today I do not need any identification card and all the medical provider and pharmacy needs is my name and birthday. Scan receives payment monthly from my Social Security check for medical coverage.and I do not need to have a medical card.

Please don't use them. They are so unreliable. Waiting for them to come and they never show up. Also calling them is a headache.

Don't be fooled by their reviews circulating on websites with 4 star customer service. The truth is they don't pay on time and it may take months for your services to get paid. Also they prescribe a doctor that is far and away than your primary doctor.Don't ever fill anything on their website, or another that is advertised from cvs, etc.

I was enrolled with the plan for a year in 2022. Tried to switch doctors in June on a three-way conference call in-between; me, the medical group and the health plan. It took an hour back and forth with the health plan and the medical group to find out I could only switch to one doctor that was in-network and his panel was open, according to the health plan's CSR. Below is the acid email I sent to the health plan member services department with no reply - I've never expected anyway. To Whom It May Concern,This is a formal complaint and condemnation about your "business" practice. I have together with One Medical's administration requested to switch providers and to my dismay I was denied based on false premises. On our conference call on 06/03/2022 it was determined after checking a long list of doctors with One Medical that Dr. Brian Secemsky was accepting new patients according to the health insurance information. Today, 06/13/2022, I called to verify the status of my request to find out I was the victim of a classic scam. Moreover, Dr. Brian Secemsky is practicing medicine in San Francisco County but in your convoluted directory it shows him registered in Alameda and San Mateo counties only; therefore, he should not be even included as a provider on Scan Classic (HMO) San Francisco health plan. As I stated to your incompetent CSR, who has no clue what she's brainless repeating over the phone, I will be terminating your mediocre services at the end of the year. Sincerely,Marcello C
