I have to say this because is the truth. This shop is like none other. The employees are friendly, they talk to everyone and they like to make you feel appreciated. The merchandise is tops and the prices , spectacular! They have sales every day. You can get 2 huge plastic bags full of brand, semi used and new clothes for less then 50.00.
So if you are in town visiting or on vacation, stop by and see it for your self.
Compare to other thrift shops in the surrounding areas "OUT OF THE CLOSET TAKES THE GRAMMY".....

I scheduled a pickup and waited almost a week regarding a donation of leather couches, dressers and side tables that were mostly in good condition. Out of The Closet rejected all of them, leaving me in a lurch right before moving day. These were not junky items. Was told the items needed to be in excellent condition for resale purposes. Problem is, if the donation items are near-new, they could be sold for profit on FB Market place.

A great place with a good mission, where I usually donate all the clothes and household things that I don't use.

Friendly & helpful staff. My YA son especially liked t-shirt section. Said the ones I found were "bangers". Book section in process of being organized - large selection, great prices ($1-$2), & in good shape.

The Long Beach location pulled a bad move. I found a $5 bracelet that they put out today 12/3 that was a carved bone bracelet with elephants. I gave it to the cash register person to hold, he liked it stating he would buy it and started showing other employees the bracelet. Later that employees comes to me and says they are not going to sell it because they say it's ivory....it's not. I spoke with the managers who stated they needed to tested it, I asked them to test it then she said she didn't have the equipment. I then asked them how did they know it ivory. She stated she didn't know. I told them that was a bad move....I deal in Antiques it's not even a old piece and definitely not ivory, just a nice carved piece of bone. I feel had the cashier register guy not blab and show it to other employees I would of gotten a piece that DID have some Silver. Terrible customer servic. Caution when dealing with the LB location. Why put something out if you don't have the equipment to test it. Are you going to call me after you test it..you can find me at Andee's Vintage and Antiques in Bellflower, CA. Let see if they make this right.

I felt like I was back in High School being bullied for being gay today. The first thing they say to me is there is something wrong with me. Arrogant snotty donations staff playing high school bullying games with me and giving me a hard time trying to catch me off guard and make fun of me. I drive up in my SUV today to drop off 3 items. These two guys pull up behind me bum rushing me and start laughing saying I had a bee on the back of my head. The way they did it was not friendly that has nothing to do with anything and it was not true. I did not see feel or hear anything. Obviously lying Just trying to gag me and make me feel less than.. Basically they were saying in code I had some type of flaw for being black and gay totally unacceptable. I know when I am being played. This is not acceptable for AHF. They gave me No hello, no sir, no thank you no I'm sorry. It should have been excuse me sir watch out there is something behind you. Not ha ha you have a bee on your head. I call back to the supervisor again no sorry just hung up on me. I called the manager over them at least she said sorry. I did not expect to be overwhelmed and overloaded with bs today. I am one or their clients and demographic and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. The donations staff is totally disrespectful, lazy when it comes to decorum and lack discipline. When I got there was a traffic jam of 10 minutes with 2 white people in their Teslas causing a traffic jam. They did not do anything about that, but being snotty and disrespectful that is what they are good at. Next time I will save the trip and throw the donations in the trash!

The place was nice , i needed to buy a suitcase really fast b/c im going out of town and they were dirt cheap and good quality they were about $10-15 it beats paying 60 for a brand new one .. super happy :)
Update : I still had the suitcase 10 years later ? I finally let it go it’s been around the world with me .

There was a lot of unique dishes and outfits to choose from, as well as a good variety of books. I would come back to explore the shop again. Also, loved that they provide HIV testing onsite.

This location had a great selection of clothes and furniture pieces. I always find a hidden gem when I swing by. Shame there isn't a fitting room to try the stuff on but I've been lucky enough to buy my right size. Bring all donations here!

Do not go anywhere but here to donate. They are quick, efficient, easy, friendly, awesome, give receipts, and are providing an amazing service for Long Beach!! Simply the best!
