If you’re looking for a mind controlling cult who are after your money and to turn you into a slave….this is the place….if you have a daughter they will be happy traffic them. If you want proof check out the Frankie files on Apple Podcasts. I was a member from 1976-1981 by their given name of Arjuna-Das. Been there…done that…and have the t shirt and didn’t want it. Always thought it was weird and remember Frankie and her sister….but her 4 part interview on cult vault episode #209 was truelyeye opening. Frankie you are so brave telling your story! Thank you Jesus I wasn’t a young woman!

Don't give them any money or information about yourself. They are looking for week minded loner people, and searching all crevices for money,It's a cult.

Utterly mind bending. And I mean that literally in a bad way. I can't find an ounce of disagreement with a single other reality-check commentary about this cult. And indeed it is a cult. Sri Patricia herself claimed "Morningland is the Cult of cults!"
A very dear friend of mine passed away in 2013 from a rare and unusually aggressive form of ocular melanoma. We were in Morningland for many years together just after the formation of Morningland. Al had left after about 5 years. I left after 9. Meeting up with him again 'on the outside' I grew to see Al as one of the most spiritual loving people I've ever had the honour to know. It baffles the mind that when one of the current leaders, Peggy, aka Gopi Saravati, heard of his death, her immediate response was a crude attempt to allude the Holy Father killed him because "he refused to see". And all said with a sparkle in her eyes and a smile. No, I am not exaggerating. You see, when you become a disciple you learn that you are one of the 144,000 light-bearers mentioned in the Bible. And when you leave you are to believe you have denied Donato the Christ, the 10th and final descent of the Holy Father in human flesh. Yah, right.
Psychologically disturbing (in my personal opinion) behaviour abounds in Morningland, and the longer you stay, the deeper you delve gives witness to this. And if they've made you take any vows of silence, that's a sign they fear what you'll say should you leave. I should know; I took said vow while in Morningland, which shut me down for many years until Al Stone started the crucial ex-morninglanders website which Morningland has tried for years to shut down to no avail. We will not be silenced.
And lastly, incense, pretty soft music, smiles and obfuscating answers to questions cannot cover the underlying stench and reality of this cult. Beware.

I was there in the 1970’s and met Sri Patricia, one of Morningland’s gurus. I’ve seen enough to know that the image they created about her is nothing but a myth. They removed the not-so-perfect person and superimposed an idealized archetype they come to worship. While some young and impressionable people may believe the myth, those of us who met her are deeply disturbed by this unfolding. Fortunately, more people are speaking out: Morningland gurus’ daughter (many members do not even know their 'guru' had children) was interviewed by a cult expert J. Lalich in a book called Escaping Utopia – Growing Up In a Cult, Getting Out and Starting Over. The paragraph about her is featured in a chapter called Divine Neglect – Children of Cult Leaders. You can read it in Google Books.

I discovered Morningland in 1976, and the teachings spoke to me. I was searching for an enlightened Master Teacher & felt I had found that upon meeting Donato. I loved that we were all working together towards a common goal for the Highest Good of all. Such lovely people! I became a disciple in 1977, just after Donato made his transition/passed on~Things really changed from there on for many of us. Sri Patricia became the Teacher, and then began what was called the battle between the light and the dark forces. I stayed until 1981, hanging onto what I can only describe as the wildest roller coaster ride with humongous ups, and I mean a drugless Highest Euphoria, to a dark deeply scary cold very isolated shaken to your core Downs. I rode them all out as I truly believed this was for my personal growth, for the highest Good of All. Then I was, without explanation, “asked to leave” is not really correct, as one of the main male disciples threatened to rip the medallion of discipleship off my neck, after reading a signed letter informing me of my excommunication. I would never had left as my life was entwined with Morningland. I was completely in Service here. This was my Spiritual home . Many of us were excommunicated that night...but it was done in an isolated manner, one at a time, so it wasn’t until a few decades later when randomly on a Google search found the exer group online. I was able to find others, many I had known, to finally be able to talk about our mutual experiences, the highs and lows, and the ultimate confusion of what Morningland was all about. That night of excommunication, I felt God had kicked me out~ What Good am I if God kicked me out? After many years, and talking thru and feelings of my own experiences, I now feel truly God graduated me from Morningland. It was the only way I would have left. I had other life experiences to live. I share this deeply personal story here so you can have all the facts. Morningland feels high and amazing! But I learned just because a place feels that way, doesn’t make it a place of enlightenment.
Thank you for listening~

Don't get too close. These folks are too good to be true, and they hide many many lies behind friendly smiles and meditation classes. You will have a great experience if you don't get in too deep, so I'd recommend you just pop into a service now and then. I'd also recommend asking LOTS of questions about the members, the leaders, and the group's long history in LB. Use your own experience and rational thought to assess what you believe. This is not a traditional destructive cult, but it's a lot more serious than just yoga and meditation.
They won't serve you poison kool aid, but they will take many good years of your life. Use your own mind, bring friends and ask their opinions of it, and most of all, be careful.

If you go, keep your eyes wide open. The universal, spiritual teachings are wonderful, the petty manipulation and attempts at control are not. Learn what you can, but trust yourself. I speak from direct experience.

Awesome pace to be. Transforming my life and my relationship with my higher power and others for the good. I love everything about it. Meditation is so enlightening. The selfless service of feeding so many people in the Long Beach Community. It's amazing to see. Totally recommend coming to a Dharma Talk or any of the classes. It's worth experiencing way more than once.

I love Morningland. It was there when I needed an open minded spiritual community! I get tired of the negative crap I hear people say about it! Most of these people have never even gone. I spent three years there and loved my experience. The people there were loving and caring and answered all my questions and I feel I grew a lot. I have since moved on to be a practitioner with Science of Mind but every now and then I like to return and hear a Dharma talk they are so inspiring!! Please give this place a chance if you are searching and tired of religious dogma. This may be the place for you!
