Every season the Long Beach International City Theatre surprises us. Leaves us walking out wanting more. And then waking up the next day still talking about it.This season, that surprise is Under the Skin, by playwright Michael Hollinger. This is a sly, witty but very poignant play that does what all great live drama does: Grabs you and takes you somewhere you didn’t expect to go with its very simple but very profound message. The acting, staging and crisp direction quickly transport you into this drama. Intermission and all, it’s over before you know it – and you wish it wasn’t.The professionals at ICT know what they are doing. They have out-done themselves this time.

I saw tick tick boom here. Great cast and band. Sound is absolutely amazing in this theatre. I just wish they had more budget on lighting/stage.

"Lend Me A Tenor" was a fabulous show, it was so hysterical, with great acting and perfect timing from the actors. The operatic singing scenes was pretty amazing!!Denis, their Theater Manager took wonderful care of my group, with the best seats, and we all enjoyed the show. I am going back Thursday night to see it again, that's how funny it was!Holly Jeanne, who plays Julia was just exceptional, she's probably been on TV, between how funny and animated she was and we especially loved her gorgeous glitzy gown. We looked forward to every scene she was in coming onto the stage.Caryn D, Artistic Direct/Producer really out did herself with this show, it will be a hard show to top! I've already purchased a group of seats for, "Tick, Tick....Boom!" That show also looks wonderful! This theater is so upscale and decorated like a real Broadway style theater.

I am thrilled that the ICT is back, live! A few years ago, I "won" tickets at a silent auction, though I had never heard of ICT. We have been season subscribers since! The venue is small and the seats are comfortable so it's the perfect place to enjoy a play.

International City Theatre creates amazing productions each season that are both professional and though provoking. Their work speaks to the heart of why we need a thriving local arts community. I am so proud to be a Board Member at this amazing theatre!

This area of Long Beach has been redeveloped and is just a beautiful area. Nice job by the city. The theater itself is very nice and intimate. Recommend catching dinner nearby and walking over to the theater. We ate at 555 East Steakhouse, parked our car at the valet for eight dollars, and then walked over to the theatre. It was a short walk and just a word of warning, it was a somewhat steep hill for people that might have trouble with that. We saw Billie holiday there and it was fantastic. It was only a cast of two but held our attention. Great show!

Review: Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, at the International City Theatre, through November 3rd. Billie Holiday is born again through Karole Foreman's brutally honest performance, which is impeccably acted and sung. It recreates one of the jazz legend's last concerts. Supporting Foreman's performance is Musical Director Stephan Terry as piano man, lover, caretaker, confidante Jimmy Powers. With deep humanity, Lady Day sings the unvarnished truth about her struggles with racism and addiction. Wren T. Brown masterly directs this unspairing tour de force Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill. This unbroken 90 minute play is not to be missed!
