Lovely private place to be solo, or to take the romantic lover of your dreams. Excellent service, clean room (if asked in morning), and safety because location is watched closely!

Stayed here for four nights.
Visited Long Beach and was at the convention center every day. Is a quick 10 to 12 minute walk and generally in a good area.
State of the royal loft room.
This room includes a parking spot!
It's a little interesting that the entrance to the room is right off of the main sidewalk almost looks like it's beside the hotel.
The room itself is really a huge apartment. Is equipped with a full kitchen, 2 queen beds, dining area and living room.
Very large bathroom and even a walk-in closet.
The AC was fantastic and in great working condition and even had a ceiling fan.
The bedding is definitely on the thicker side and left us a little bit too hot.
Tons of good eating options and even bars close by. There is also a supermarket called Vons within 3 minute walk.
The staff are all excellent, kind, and check in regularly.
Highly recommended.

There was a bug on the floor made me not want to stay. Glad I was only there for a few hours.

Absolutely the best hotel I've ever stayed at. Perfect location the rooms are beautiful you feel like you're in a luxury apartment rather than a hotel and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg it's actually affordable. 5 ⭐ across the board! The staff is so accommodating I can't say enough good things.
Rooms: Beautiful and clean
Walkability: In the heart of downtown long Beach great shopping and restaurants right at your front door
Noteworthy details: The staff is absolutely amazing! They go above and beyond to accommodate your needs .

The location is nice and close to a lot of walkable restaurants and shops, but that does not make up for all the issues with this place.
Our room was not clean (hairs in the shower/toilet, gnats flying around, small bugs, stains on towels and sheets). The room is small which is fine, but there is not an elevator and no effort to keep the stair area nice or clean. The shower is horrible with inconsistent temperature and bad water pressure. The bathroom in general was not clean.
The worst part is that they gave a different set of guests a key to OUR ROOM. The front desk told them to check in to room 9 even though we were already staying there. Super creepy and we’re just glad the chain was on our door.
They also told us our room would be ready at 3. We asked them if we could check in earlier and they said they would text us when the room was ready…. They never did, even though it was ready by 2:40 when we should up again, and clearly had been ready for a while.
This place is inexpensive, but I will not be staying here again.

Found this hotel after searching for the other big chains that were over priced. It’s right off a main road which has its pros and cons… but the pros outweigh the cons; so we’d stay here again. The staff was friendly and check in was easy. Getting to your room is easy (please note there are NO elevators and the rooms are small). We found ours very clean except the floors felt greasy (I assume from the cleaning products). Bed was comfortable (better than I expected).
Plenty of places to eat and shop within walking distance. I recommend Padre about two blocks down!
Over all good experience! A+

The front desk lady tonight was just rude - I don't understand how you can be in customer service and be so unpleasant.

This is, by far, the nicest hotel I stayed at on my bike tour around southern California. The building is old but the interiors are all newly redone art deco. It's clean, quiet and has a shared kitchen and meeting room. The bed is probably the most comfortable I've slept in since staying at the Vagabond Motel in Miami. It's like being wrapped in a cloud.
The location is not ideal, but there's a full grocery store a block away, Thai food across the street and the best pizza in town a block west. I highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back. Excellent value for the money.

We stayed here for a week. When we arrived, the bathroom light did not work. We reported this issue to the reception and it was not fixed during the whole week. The room floor was always oily even after cleaning. All rooms face the street so it could be very noisy during the weekend.

I made a reservation on Hotels.com. I was told that cancellation was free, but I was not refunded. When I requested a refund through Hotels.com, I falsely reported to the agent that the money had been refunded, and it has not been refunded for over a month.
Even when I emailed the hotel directly, there was no response.
Other reviews have also had problems with cancellations and refunds, so I recommend not booking this hotel unless you have other options.
This hotel does not refund for your cancellation. There are lots of reviews about refund trouble.

The Hotel Royal is the hidden gem of Long Beach. I rented the Premier Loft for my granddaughters 4th birthday. We were there for 2 nights. It felt more like an air bnb than a hotel room. The bathroom was spacious, high ceilings, loft style, 2 queen beds and a sectional that was quite comfortable. It has a full kitchen with full sized refrigerator as well. The exposed brick gave the whole room some real charm.
Living in Washington state, I had full assistance of the hotel staff on getting the "birthday" room ready for my granddaughter. They were more than accommodating and went WAY above any expectations that I was expecting. They prepared the room with decorations and had everything set up before arriving.
It was very secure and my whole party felt safe. Yes, there are some homeless people around, but that is a problem everywhere. And, was there some noise? Yes,....because you're on freakin' Broadway in Long Beach.
This is a 100 year old building and the rooms are smaller (not the Loft) and there isn't an elevator but the charm and the richness of the history out weighs the slight complications.
We all went for walks throughout the neighborhood and felt completely safe. Parking is included with the loft and was ample. We visited the Queen Mary, aquarium and did a harbor cruise as well. All were within minutes of the hotel. We cooked dinner and breakfast as well.
The staff were so friendly and helpful that I will DEFINITELY be staying here again when in town.
Now for the nit picky things.
-It would be nice to have dinnerware and cups and mugs for 5 people in the Loft. (It accommodates 5)
-Some extra cookware would have made everything in the kitchen perfect.
-The vent in the bathroom didn't work.
Besides these imperfections, I can't knock them them for anything else. The WHOLE experience was amazing and I will be staying there with my family again. Thank you Hotel Royal for the memories!!!
