Me and my girlfriend were looking to make some al pastor tacos with a recipe we found online. On our way to Ralph’s to buy ingredients, We drove past this market and decided to check it out on a whim. They sold a delicious premarinated al pastor pork. Super nice people. Great prices. Our tacos were delicious. We threw away the recipe we found online. Didn’t end up making it to Ralph’s. We’ll be back for more of theirs.

Hands down, El Mercado 2 has the freshest meat in town. I've been living in LB for 6 months now and every time the employees greet me like a regular. If you live in the area, this place should be added to your shopping list. If it's your first time, I should warn you that this is not Vons, Ralph's or Grocery Outlet; El Mercado 2 has culture and it makes me proud to live in this city.

Really great little local store. It can be a little overpriced but because of the convenience it's worth it. Also, this is the only local meat market that I have found that gives you the option of getting meat with no plastic packaging! I've been asking local meat shops if they have the option of wrapping meat in paper because -well, there's no planet B and so much of our plastic use goes into landfills which is terrible and wasteful- and finally I found this place. Just let them know you want no plastic and that you want your meat wrapped in paper and placed in a paper bag. Nice and friendly staff. We had to move out of the area but I hope other neighbors who care about the environment, and the local businesses, support this awesome business.

I have been coming here for years, it's the only spot like this on 4th street, in this area, so if you need groceries and are close, this is it. Smoke shop next door, Pizza Hut on the opposite corner, also several liquor stores. On one side a Mexican bakery and restaurant, then McDonalds a block down.

Great for a quick run of basics if you want or need to stay within a couple blocks of your place. Lots of ripe plantain sold cheap, cilantro, your abuela's favorite seasoning, etc. Limited selection, though, as one would expect from a small corner market.

Very dissapointed in the owners. I thought by having new owners that everything will change. I love the butcher MEMO. Very humble and greets you with a smile. My husband did some electrical work there and the owner ripped him off. We are just trying to make ends meat and He didn't care. A regular electrician would of charged him $150 for the work and my hubby only charged him $60. When my hubby was done with the work he only wanted to oay him $40. Yes 20 dollars less might be nothing to this ungrateful owner but 20 dollars to us was milk and eggs. This is the second time this happen to my hubby. The other owner only paid him with a 2 liter soda.. WOW! Like I said i thought it would of been different with another owner. A great case of BIG BANK TAKE LITTLE BANK.
