I have been banking with Compass here in Lodi for years, and the same disparity continues. The local banking staff are super customer friendly and effective ; Compass corporate is the polar opposite. Recently, I met with a Lodi loan officer, who offered me a reasonable rate on a bill consolidation arrangement. Yesterday, while cashing a check, I mentioned to the branch manager that I had to postpone my application until my wife returned from an overseas journey. The manager then informed me that corporate had made the decision to cease all consolidation loans throughout November, but only for that month. WTF !!! What well known banking institution undermines its local branches for an irresponsible decision like this ? I had earlier considered closing my account years ago, following a corporate policy dinging my modest savings account $15 because of minimal balance issues. What a marvelous way to chase away depositors.... I will continue to trade with Compass until my pre-printed checks are exhausted early in 2019, then I will definitely close my account, despite the great customer service I have been given by the Lodi branches. Needless to say, I will not be returning in December to apply for my consolidation loan. Lodi, California is clearly over-banked, with a financial institution almost on every street corner. I quit Bank of the West because of poor customer service and an unreliable ATM. I will leave Compass for different reasons, but they will lose my business nonetheless....
