This review is based on the formal attempt I made at becoming employed with Johnson Controls. I applied with the company for a position as an Apprentice Technician and recieved an in-person interview after waiting a few weeks on a call back, submitting a resume online, and providing an adequate-enough phone interview to be scheduled a 2nd interview. I had the in-person interview and was under the impression that I essentially landed the position given how much positive reinforcement I received. 2 days later I receive a call stating they've already filled the position, and that I didn't have enough sprinkler Fitting experience to fit the role, yet Indeed.com still has their company hiring the same position for an Apprentice. But isnt that was apprenticeship is....learning the trade on the job with in-class training?Anyway...... They are well within their right to hire who they desire based on experience and other factors, but in all honesty it was their loss that they didn't hire someone who was truly motivated to make it a career, who has a clean record (((and nose!))), who takes their work seriously, whos fully capable of performing the job required and more so, and whos eagerness wasnt so much about the love for a technical trade but for the stability of a career that has room for growth. Now, Im not going to sit here and yell in a fit of rage at those who interviewed me, because by now I am already used to this type of discrimination from other employers. Rather than give even the slightest opportunity to someone, that someone now continues jobless because of rampant bias and discrimintation he must endure when he needed that opportunity more than 90% of anyone else who walked through that door, dressed in shiny loafers, pressed and steamed bottoms, and his most favorite cufflinks all snazzed up ready for anything. Just would like this company to know, you missed out, I didn't. I wont bash you, but I will speak my decision as to how I interpet such a denial. Now, Ill keep busy looking forward to more of the same from other employers. Thank you so much for the opportunity. 2 stars for making me feel special enough to have an interview.

I am a Facilities Manager at a school. My experience with Simplexgrinnell has not been good. They have horrible customer service. They discontinued our monitoring, for five months, without notifying us. No new contract to sign, nothing. When I called to get this taken care of, I was told someone would call me right back. There was no call back. I made three more call, no call back. Finally, I notified SG that I was changing monitoring services. That took three more phone calls which again and again were not returned. I finally got a scheduler who said she would call me back in "literally five minutes", her words, and she did not call me back. The tech finally shows up, with out calling ahead, and claims that he had a 1:30 appt with me when the scheduler said he would be there by 12pm. So the tech arrives and then complains that he has to do the work of the new monitoring service. BTW the new monitoring service had a man on sight for five hours that same day, at no charge, waiting to do his job when simplex got done with their work. But, SG was so late and no one was communicating with me and so my new tech had to leave. My belief is that SimplexGrinnell/Johnson controls do these things as a tactic to stall as long as possible to confuse and complicate matters. Techs do not call ahead so that if your not available they can charge for the call anyway and then move on to the next target. It's a awful way to operate a company and I will not recommend SG/Johnson controls to anyone.

Absolutely the worst company I've ever had to deal with. I'm a general manager of a condominium, and we have to get our fire control panel checked annually. Johnson controls(simplexgrinnell) did our annual check, however didn't put a sticker that is required by the fire department. They had 5 guys come out to to check it, 3 of them learning how to do it, then the guys in charge didn't even do it right. I've been trying to contact them for a week, and no one responds and they give you the run around. Worst customer service I've ever dealt with. We might get fined if they don't answer soon which I'm going to make sure they pay for!!

Suffers from horrible constantly changing management. If your tech saves the day consider yourself lucky as most are inept.
