Barry is the man!! Very friendly and patient! Dude knows his stuff and will be very honest and transparent with you from the jump! After lifting and putting 37's on my truck she was very sluggish. Barry confirmed the gear ratio I chose would be the best for my setup so from 3.73 to 4.56 I went and dam she's got her power back! It seems that people all over the bay and the valley come to him so he works with you on dropping off the vehicle and picking up. If you live within 100 miles from this shop do it I guarantee you wont regret it!

I can't praise enough about how awesome Barry and The Rear End Shop are! I needed work done, mainly, re-gearing my 2020 Jeep JL from factory gear ratio to 5.38 to compensate for the bigger tires and weight. From calling Barry and talking to him about gear ratio knowledge to having it done in time and with amazing customer service....100% outstanding service! Barry is that old-school mechanic who treats his customers more like family. He respects you, helps you determine what you need, and doesn't overcharge you like other shops. I am one of his customers who is more than satisfied with his services and recommend his shop to anyone and everyone. The reviews from previous customers are spot on, if not, everyone is being modest how amazing and grateful to Barry and his shop! If you need his services, contact him immediately...there is a reason why he's booked up for weeks if not months in advance.

I had purchased a differential from a company in the Midwest for my classic Corvette C2 when I had it installed and I drove it for about 200 miles the differential gears went out. I took the differential to Barry he opened it up in front of me, showed me what's going on give me an estimate which was very reasonable. I called the company that originally sold me the differential, explain the situation but they were insistent about me sending it back to them at no cost to me. This meant Barry got no business but he was more than a gentleman and said give them a second chance. Barry is very honest and if I ever have a need for any work I would definitely take my projects to him, I highly recommend this shop.

Very honest shop I highly recommend this place if you need your differential checked out I didn't get any work done but I got my car diagnosed I gave them a call because I was told I needed my axle bearings changed I brought the car in it was diagnosed free of charge it was actually something to do with my rear brake system and my parking brake assembly Barry got it diagnosed n called me to tell me what's wrong with it was very honesty I will be bringing my car here again if I ever need work done with my differential Thank you again Barry!

This shop does excellent work. Barry was very knowledgeable and very professional. He takes pride in his work. It's hard to find a shop you can trust. They have my trust. Barry put in a new LSD and changed the rear end gears for an OBS F150. He did an excellent job. A+++

Barry is a kind, patient and wonderful person who took time out of his busy schedule to walk me through a possible repair for my 1973 P30 Van, which has been converted into a tiny home and is very very heavy. I had not brought my van to him, but was merely inquiring about the cost of his services. I am currently swapping the engine in my van from a worn out inline 6 to a brand new 350 and was considering swapping my rear end gears from a 4.56:1 to a 4.10:1 ratio to get some more top speed at the loss of a little torque. After a brief phone call I sent Barry an email with some calculations on how much torque would be lost vs how much top speed would be gained, enquiring how much it would cost to swap to a different carrier, new bearings, different ratio etc. I also sent him the measurements of my van to see if it would fit in his workshop. Barry called me back shortly after sending my email and at the cost of him making additional money advised me against changing the gearing due to the weight, and said investing in a different transmission is a much better option to save up for in the future. He also took the time to measure his workshop and said, though they cannot get the van high up off the ground in his workshop, they would accommodate me by doing the work just barely lifted up off the ground. The fact that Barry took time out of his day, at no cost to me, to slowly and carefully walk me through my options to give me the best result speaks loudly of his character. He even gave me a detailed first hand experience method on how I can get a loose indication of the condition of my rear end on my own, again costing me nothing. Barry has gained a customer for life, and if I have an issue with my rear end I will not hesitate to head directly to his shop. His kind customer service, wealth of over 37 years of experience and patience with my novice understanding of rear ends was overwhelming and I almost hope my rear end is broken, just so I can give him some business.

I brought in a rearend for my 69 Camaro thinking it was an easy repair. Barry discovered an issue that i never would have figured out. We has to order some custom parts and Barry saw to it that it was put together properly. Very knowledgeable and reasonably priced. I cant say enough how happy i am. I will be back.

Barry was extremely accomodating and helpful. I didn't have a lot of time to fix my rearend and they met my schedule. Pricing is very fair. I basically left him with an open checkbook knowing full well that i might get taken advantage of. That did not happen. Very honest and knowledgeable guys. I highly recommend and will be back.

Over the course of the past 10 years, I've must have driven by this shop well over 1000 times. Having owned many trucks and Jeeps, gearing is always such an important aspect of the final drive of your vehicle and not many people pay attention to this. Towing trailers is quite possibly the most stress you can place on a vehicles components especially the rear axle, having the right gears makes ALL the difference. Barry and his crew are by far the BEST at what they do. My current truck is a 2014 Ram 1500 and I originally had 3.55 gear ratio and it was pulling my trailers and going up hill just fine, but I didn't want to stress the rear end any more than I needed too as I was towing between 5-7000lbs so going to a 4.10 ratio was the right ticket. I had many questions and Barry was always ready to assist and even after the install was extremely patient and courteous. He is extremely knowledgeable and it's comforting knowing that a local business performs this type of work, doing it right the first time. :) Thank you Barry and crew, you have a customer for a lifetime.

This shop regeared my Jeep Wrangler (-after it was lifted somewhere else). Also replaced the stock drive shaft with an aftermarket drive shaft, and installed Trutrac differentials. Paid exactly what was quoted initially. I've driven my Jeep off road all the way to Baja since with no issues; very happy with their work.
