If I could give no stars I would. I walked in today with my 4yr old and my mother, excited to purchase our new pet goldfish. We had already prepared our tank days before per the staff at Petco at a previous visit. When we approached Jess ( the General Manager) for assistance and she asked us our tank size. I told her I have a 6.5 gallon tank (one of a few, we also have a 6 yr old turtle and multiple size tanks), and she immediately and condescendingly shut us down saying we don't have a big enough tank for gold fish because they grow 12-14 inches and she is not selling us fish. I advise her I have a 10 gallon tank as well and she laughed and stated "yeah right, you just told me you have a 6.5, I don't believe you. I'm not selling you fish". The level of disrespect was too much.... I was done at this point, and told my mother we needed to walk away before I blew up. I walked to the front stood in line and asked for the manager..... well here comes Jess... advising that she is indeed the general manager of the store and there is no one else to assist me. I ask for her supervisor... of course there was no way she was giving me that info but she asked for my email to give to the supervisor ????? I told her I was not giving her my email, and wanted to know more about their policy and inquired about fish I purchased a couple of months ago that died shortly after purchase. She asked me if I still had the dead fish bodies.......yes dead fish from over a month ago... but that wasn't it.....It was when Jess advised me that I had to leave the store because she felt I threatened her by saying I was going to blow up earlier.... I will never give Petco my money again. Ps Looks like someone else had a similar experience on here smh

I pay monthly for the Vital care savings because I need supplies every week. However, I noticed I have to ask most cashiers to include my savings for every purchase because if I don't ask, they won't apply them. Is there a reason for this? Im surprised they dont automatically apply them or at least ask me if I want to apply them. I have to ask for my savings after they've hit total and it's not all the cashiers just some.

this negative review is NOT something i wanted to do.... however i had to because of the way i was treated by a LEAD GROOMER Nikki. SO UNBELIEVABLE UNPROFESSIONAL, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AND COMMUNICATOR, NOT SO GREAT GROOMER.... AND SHE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A LEADER!?!?!??!?! i had to find a new groomer because my other groomer at petco mission valley left (after more than 2 years of going to him!!) i met nikki and she assured me that she would take care of ryleigh. the first visit was okay but i was left with a wet dog. nikki seemed disturbed/upset that i asked her to dry my wet pup some more. okay. she may have had a bad day. i brought ryleigh in for another bath some time later to see another groomer since nikki was booked. when i arrived, nikki said 'i am taking ryleigh she is mine'.... i said 'but you were booked up'... apparently she wasn't and took a grooming appt away from someone else... huh?? i came back to pick my pup up, with a generous tip, again, and nikki was nowhere to be found. when i got home- ryleigh's nails hadn't been done. i called nikki. no response. called the GM of the store, jessica. she seemed pleasant and we went over the scenario of what happened between ryleigh and nikki. come to find out that ryleigh wouldn't let nikki cut her nails. (when i first met nikki i advised her of ryleigh being somewhat skiddish at times with her nails. have someone hold her head!!). i learned that ryleigh growled at nikki. (tried to bite her?). this was news to me. Jessica said there was a new groomer, kira, i should try. okee dokee. jessica also gave me nikki's days off so i could avoid her. (i have no need to avoid nikki= she isn't that important to me). i came in yesterday. a sweet gal, angeles, greeted me. i saw nikki in the back grooming a dog. i asked for the nail trim that nikki didn't do as jessica was going to credit me for the entire bath/nail experience with nikki. angeles looked at the computer for what i guess what 'other noted behavior' for my pup. she said that i have had allison at mission valley for awhile. i said NO. i used robert. i didn't even know who allison was. then, she went back to see nikki about signing some paperwork. i waited. angeles came back and said that a nail trim couldn't be done EVER again as ryleigh bit nikki!!!! AND 'WE' HAD BEEN REFERRED OUT!?!?!?!?? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?!??! THAT IS BS!!! I LEFT. tried to get ahold of jessica. i even left her a note. i have yet to hear from her..... called corporate to get a full refund. NEVER AGAIN. NIKKI CERTAINLY NEEDS SOME UP-TRAINING IN COMMUNICATION SKILLS. AND GROOMING TECHNIQUES. AND, HONESTY!!! A CONCEALER FOR SURE. AND, LASTLY, BE THERE FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS WHEN PUPS ARE BEING PICKED UP!!!! lastly, as a final note, i should have seen the 'red flags'. when i brought ryleigh into the shop, ryleigh would shake and quiver. when i brought her in yesterday to see angeles= ryleigh leaned against her and wanted loving!! no shakes, no quivers.... hmmmm. my rant is over.

My partner and I unexpectedly came into the care of a kitten and we needed supplies. Dylan was EXTREMELY helpful and recommended stuff to buy for our new kitty. We were a bit lost so without his recommendations it would’ve taken much longer. Thank you Dylan for being so helpful!

Problems with GlowFish tanks and Customer ServiceI have been a regular and satisfied customer at Petco, especially impressed with the friendliness of the staff during my recent visits for buying fish for my child and for about a decade prior. It's a convenient location for me, and until now, my experiences have been positive. However, my latest encounter over a product issue was highly disappointing. I initially purchased a Glowfish Fish Tank a year ago, which had an integrated filter that was difficult to clean, leading to uncontrollable algae growth. I replaced it with another Glowfish tank without an integrated filter, but this too had significant design flaws. The tank's top did not fit over the filter, causing water leakage. Despite my efforts to modify and fix these issues, the tank continued to leak. When I returned to the store for assistance, the staff members I had good experiences with were not present. In their place, a manager with red hair handled my situation. Her attitude was dismissive and disrespectful, in stark contrast to the earlier helpful and friendly staff. She seemed to ridicule my concerns, and at checkout, I was unexpectedly charged an additional fee. Her demeanor suggested that she didn't take my issues seriously and even implied that I should shop elsewhere. She said "it would be silly to write a negative review about this, maybe you should buy your fish somewhere else"... well here it is. 1 star. Totally preventable. This incident has left me frustrated and disappointed, particularly because of the negative treatment I received from the manager, which was unwarranted and unprofessional. I hope this review alerts other customers to the potential quality issues with Glowfish tanks and the varying levels of customer service at Petco. In the picture you can see the section I needed to cut out of the lid, and the hot glue I had to apply to keep the filter from pumping all of the water out onto my counter. I would have brought it right back but my counter was flooded and I have my daughters fish in there.Aqueon tanks don't seem to have any issues out of the box, i'd recommend those instead and hope they remove these flawed glowfish tanks from the shelves.

I can tell the animals are taken care of at this location. Although there have been a few times I've seen fish that look unhealthy, as if they were messed with by kids. That's the one thing I've noticed coming sometimes. Other than that, pretty good Petco.

I only gave them one star they don't even deserve that start why advertise that no appointment is need to cut the nails for your pets if then when you go you give all this excuse of why they can take you pet in for the nails cut. You guys are so wrong that is why I will NEVER GO BACK!!!!!! I took my baby's to Posh Poodle Pet Grooming they took them in right away and cut their nails right down and where so friends not like the groomer at PetCo that maid us wait 25 minutes while she was just chatting with the person before us. DON'T GO TO PETCO!!!!!!!!!!!!! POSH POODLE PET GROOMING ARE THE BEST IN LEMON GROVE!!!!!!!!!!!
