Nice, standalone cabin but poor furniture for trying to work on my laptop. No shower, and I almost got hurt the first time I tried getting out of the tub. Beautiful view of the lake but a lot of highway noise. I had trouble adjusting the heater, an old style wall heater.Rooms: I liked my individual cabin; I didn’t know ahead of time that these were availableNearby activities: Hiking, walking, interesting anomalies, beautiful sunrises, a couple restaurants and a coffee shopSafety: I felt safe from crime even though it’d be easy to get in through the door or a window. I almost had an accident exiting the bizarre bathtub —it’s up on a step, and what with forgetting that, having an injury, and being a senior citizen, with no hand rails, the bathtub/no shower was unpleasant and uncomfortable (impossible to lie down in the tub)Noteworthy details: Very close to Mono Lake, the east side of Yosemite, and many other scenic and recreational areas

I stayed at Tioga Lodge (just north of Lee Vining, CA) at the end of August, 2023. The room was quite cozy and comfortable, and even though it is located directly adjacent to Hwy 395, I didn't have any problem with traffic noise (which was a complaint I read in another review). Yes, if you're really trying to hear the traffic noise, you'll hear it. However, if you don't let it bother you at all, then within a very short time, your mind basically eliminates it and it becomes nothing more than background noise.Back to the room... Very clean and cozy. The beds were comfortable, and I had no problem sleeping. The bathroom was "old school" in the sense that it had the old water closet design for the toilet, with the holding tank for the water being at or above head height, and that put the flush handle up high enough that if you're a shorty, you may have to stand on the lid of the toilet to be able to flush after you do your business. The towels were very plush as well. There was no TV, which didn't bother me at all, because I don't watch a lot of TV anyway. And the view of Mono Lake (directly across the highway) is beautiful!Just be advised, that when you open the door of your room in the early morning, you may be blinded by the light! The sunrise seems to come early, because there aren't any mountains to the east to delay the sun's appearance from over the horizon. Also, be warned that when you open the door to your room, you may be blinded by the light - the sunrise reflecting off the lake, combined with the actual light directly from the sun, and you get a double whammy of light! LOL!!The staff was also extremely friendly, and the manager, Gladys was easy to converse with.If there was any one negative, it would be that the Lodge's wifi that covers the guest rooms wasn't working - but if I really needed wifi, I could sit on the front porch of the Lodge and use the main wifi while enjoying the beautiful view of Mono Lake. All in all, I have no serious complaints about my stay at Tioga Lodge, and I would definitely stay there again.

We booked a room at Tioga Lodge at Mono Lake in Lee Vining. Then our vacation had to be postponed for 2 days, so we requested that our reservation be changed by 2 days. There were several vacancies on our requested day at that time. This occurred 19 days prior to our reservation. Instead, the owner forced us to forfeit the full cost of the room and insisted we pay again (so double) for a reservation for two days later! In our opinion, this was uncalled for and reveals the attitude of the owner towards his customers.

Flexible check-in times are available, which is convenient. However, no one is actually there (at least around 9pm or 8am). Upon arrival my room key was in an envelope with my name on it pinned to the door. At checkout I had to return my room key to a maintenance guy. Frustrating, since while an attempt was made at cleanliness, our room smelled odd and had cockroaches in it, but there was no one to tell. The bathroom shower was mounted so low it must be for hobbits. No air conditioning is I guess ok for an alpine environment, and we knew that going in, but for $200+ a night after taxes I expected a LOT better. At least the view of Mono Lake was nice despite the traffic noise all night.

I don’t really understand the low stars for this place. We got a room with an excellent lake view , staff was very nice . Room was very clean and everything worked fine , also our room came with a portable AC that worked great! I would totally stay again. We stayed in the a pioneer room but will try one of the standalone rooms next time! Parking in the upper lots is kind of confusing , everyone parked in their own way but that’s not lodges fault. We will for sure try coming during winter. They also had a cool little stream that bring a nice breeze with it !

Room is clean well kept. The only downside it’s right next to main road that gets insanely loud at night.

My husband and I stayed at the Tioga Lodge at Mono Lake for two nights. We had a delightful stay in Cabin 80. Our cabin included a kitchenette which included a stove with oven; microwave; coffee machine; large refrigerator and electric tea kettle. The kitchen was stocked with pots, pans & utensils. All appliances and utensils appeared new and spotless. The cabins was extremely clean, the king sized bed was comfortable. Sheets, blankets and towels were of good quality. Two air conditioners cooled our cabin space as well as ceiling fans. The shower had plenty of hot water and was extremely clean. The staff was FRIENDLY, receptive and helpful. The WiFi was adequate. We watched the sun rise over Mono lake and it was awesome and unforgettable. Thank you everyone at Tioga Lodge! We will see you again soon!

Super friendly people. Clean comfortable rooms. Pretty grounds and great spots to sit outside and enjoy the view. It is near the highway- that is the only negative. Nothing that a set of earplugs wouldn’t solve. Lots of great things to do in the area! I would stay there again!

I totally changed my mind about this Place. Yes it's a little rustic but they go and take the time to make sure you're comfortable. We totally appreciate that. So thank you.

This place is amazing. The view is lovely and the staff is hospitable and so kind. The manager Gladis and her boss were so kind and let us have a small picnic here with my wife and our families. We just got married and because of the Tioga Pass closure were unable to have our picnic in Yosemite where we had originally planned. They were so kind and hospitable and let us have a small picnic here. They were so generous and kind. Stay at this place. This place is a hidden gem. It’s amazing. If not for the amazing views, do it for the amazing staff. Our stay actually isn’t even over yet. We’re on day 2 of a 5 day stay and I’m so excited to see what else is in store for us here. If you stay here, you’ll be glad you did.
