If you are interested in California history, nature, arts, crafts, and you also want to support one of the most fragile ecosystems on earth Mono Lake, an unreplaceable stopover for migrating bird -SHOP AT THIS STORE! Their online store is also excellent! Beautiful books and gifts! I bought a gorgeous cap with ospreys painted by a local artist.

This is one of the best resources for learning about Mono lake and preserving it. The committee was the force behind stopping the LA Department of water and Power from turning the Mono basin into a dry wasteland like they did to the Owens valley to the south. Been a member for 22 years, money well spent as their stream restoration programs have visibly and hugely improved the entire ecosystem since I joined. A must visit if you enjoy the beauty of the lake and basin.

Corey at the Visitor Center helped make this visit GREAT! I highly recommend a visit to this little building in the town of Lee Vining. I went in, looking for postcards and ended up buying books, maps, stickers, earrings for my lady friend, and a variety of other items including a number of postcards. I first came into the center in 1982. Wow have things changed for the BETTER! Corey was a wealth of knowledge and answered all of my questions concerning Mono Lake and surrounding areas. She made some great suggestions for places to see related to my interests. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

This place is a great stop for books, souvenirs, and local goods! The staff there were super friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back during my next stop in Lee Vining!
