Took amazing care of my Barbie car. Great waiting area. Welcoming & cozy. Unlimited coffee, coke a cola & TV. Awesome memorabilia & the bathroom is a must see (heated auto seat). Dropped of my car to have a check engine light diagnosed. Was called and told they went ahead and changed the spark plugs for $500 but that that wasn't the issue and that I needed to consent to an additional $800+ replacement of the crankshaft sensor. Under California law, it is illegal to bill someone for work performed without consent. Strongly recommend this shop be avoided.

The only repair shop I have ever trusted and actually enjoy the experience. Fred stands by his good work and is fair, reliable, speedy and always pleasant. Highly recommend.

I'm bummed to have to leave this review but it's important for others to know. The owner at Marin British, Fred, kindly helped me repair my car after many issues arose with a smog check, which I was very grateful for. Among many many other repairs, ultimately, my car needed a full valve job. Unfortunately, the after market head gasket that Fred's team used failed. Due to Fred's busy season, Fred has been unable to schedule me to fix the job (under warranty) and will not send me the insurance information to have it done elsewhere. I've been following up for 8 months while oil was leaking from the head gasket. With thousands and thousands of dollars in the hole, ultimately, I'm having to pay those thousands again to have the head gasket replaced at another, more specialized shop. Doubly unfortunate, the Bureau of Automotive Repair has been unsuccessful in helping me to get the warranty on the work fulfilled. :(

I have known Fred for over 25 years, starting in 1994. That's when I brought my first new Land Rover Defender 90 from the Land Rover dealership in San Rafael he was working at (was actually a Mercedes dealership then). I brought another new Defender 90 in 1997, and I had all the service to it done at the Land Rover dealership in San Francisco, close to my work. Fred had left Marin and starting working there at the time. A few years later Fred left the San Francisco dealership and opened his own shop, Marin British & European. Of course as soon as I brought my current 1997 Defender 90 a few years ago, I began bringing it to Fred's new shop. 6 months ago I bought a mostly restored 2 door 1974 Range Rover Classic. I brought the Rover Classic to Fred to finish the mechanical restoration that was not completed by the last owner. 3 months ago I bought a super rare and nicely restored 1985 Defender 110 single cab pickup. I also took it to Fred for several mechanical upgrades, as well as installing a set extra wide fender flares (he does it all). All of the work he has done for me on my Rover's was done right, and done exactly the way I wanted it done. He's price's are fair, and he goes the mile to locate hard to find parts at reasonable prices. He has never tried to sell me parts or service I don't need. My buddy Steve from Novato has been taking his Range Rover to Fred since the first shop opened also. I would definitely recommend Fred's shop for it's great service and repair work.

Super reasonable for an automotive shop. They were willing to try charging my battery at no cost to see if that would work first. And a comfortable enough shop, that I didn't mind just hanging out in the waiting room for an hour while this happened. Good price, good service, and what more could you expect from a shop.
