After a loooooong quarantine, I needed a trim bad. I immediately thought of visiting Soyoung to have my hair refreshed.
Now, I am not sure what happened to her during the pandemic but she trimmed my hair as if she forgot how to cut hair. I asked for 2 inches off and she cut off more than 6 inches!!! She gave me a crazy layered look and insisted she kept the “length” I asked for by handing me the longest part of the botched layers (think 90s triangle layer cut). After 10 minutes, I hesitantly paid for my haircut because I am a decent human being. I literally cried when I got into my car because my hair was so nice and long…
Thankfully, my friend fixed the disastrous hair I had to walk around in for A WEEK.
I will never ever go back to Soyoung again. I am so so disappointed that she cut my hair so carelessly after speaking so highly of her in the previous years.
OLD REVIEW:
Soyoung is fantastic! She’s efficient and knows what she’s doing. I have very fine, straight but thick Asian hair and she knows exactly how it needs to be cut. I’ve had trouble with other salons (blunt cut, uneven, etc) but never with her. If you need a good trim or just want a new style, go and see her. You won’t be disappointed

Great price for salon quality. I strongly recommend you call or text to schedule an appointment to get the best results. I generally cut my hair with Soyoung because she's fast and very accurate. In general, all the salon staff know what they're doing.

Soyoung was excellent with my cut. She also was great about squeezing me in last second when I need a cut asap. She’s also very friendly and kind. Would definitely recommend her for any haircut and definitely will be coming back in the future

The only joyful thing is the hair stylist. Her personality is great, but her work is mediocre at best. Twice my wife has had her hair dyed here - both times with very different colors. Both times she stained everything she touched for weeks.Pillows, clothes, her own skin, etc. Everything. The prices here are low but I guess you get what you pay for. Maybe her other work is good but avoid coming here if you want to dye your hair.

I recently went to get my hair cut and dyed. The hair cut came out beautiful and loved the layers. However, do not get me started on my hair dye experience. I showed the lady a picture of what I wanted, and she said she could do. I truly believe that if she weren't juggling from person to person she might've done a better job. She was the ONLY hairdresser working on 4 different people at a time! Not only that but her son was very rude in yelling at her (very unprofessional). Back to my hair- she was supposed to do black and blue on my bangs and piece on my side. She also didn't put anything on my hairline to for the dye not to stick to my forehead. When she went to bleach, she didn't part it or take sections, she just grabbed a chunk of hair and a glob of bleach and threw it in my hair. Then she let me sit there to work on the other 4 people....when she came back to check on me, she sighs and says this is not going to work! Do you want to just do all black. First off that's not what I came there for and second the bleach would've worked if she would've taken her time to section my hair. Also, when she washed my hair, she was in such a rush that she literally got dye all over my face :( So now my hair is green, light blue and dark blue. Wait the best part is the price! She charged me 390.00 for a lack for better word Sh*tty job. Plus, she had the nerve to still ask for a tip! Sorry but never again! I will stick to just doing my hair at home, this is what I get for trying to get pampered instead of doing the job myself!!!! Not only was I unsatisfied with the outcome of my hair but I left the place with a half black and half blue forehead! Not to also mention that when I got home to shower, I put my hand in the middle of my scalp and there were blobs of hair dye still in my hair! 0 outta 10 DON'T RECOMMEND!

I’m mixed and have very healthy hair with about 4 curl patterns from 2C to 3C. I walked in with my hair unwashed and therefore undetangled. When I took my bonnet off Soyoung said “oh” in a very disappointed tone. As soon as I sat down, Soyoung immediately went in with a wooden paddle brush ripping through my hair. Then when I told her that is not how you detangle curly hair she handed me the brush to detangle my own hair dry. At this point I was very upset but I still decided to go through with the appointment because I really needed my hair straightened. I noticed she was not sanitizing her equipment after each client, and while she was washing my hair she left me at the wash bowl to go give a cut to a man who just walked in with no appointment. Then after she was done she walked back to me and I asked her to please wash her hands to which she responded “don’t worry don’t worry” completely disregarding me. While she was blow drying my hair she was so rough running her fingers through my hair and even scratching my scalp with hair nails, she also didn’t completely dry my hair. Once she began straightening my hair, she was ripping through it my separating the sections and ripping through my ends while straightening. She, for the second time, stopped to do cut guy who was a walk in (I know this because both men said they were first times and both asked “can you take a walk in”) I felt extremely hurt and disrespected as I’ve NEVER been treated like this during a service especially not one that costs $350. While she was straightening my hair, she kept burning my scalp. She also straightened pieces of my hair that were still damp to where you can HEAR it sizzling/crackling. When I looked down at my cape a literally saw my broken ends on it, she proceeded to say “that’s not real breakage don’t worry” so what is it then ma’am? Fake breakage? I clearly see my broken hair that you snapped off on the cape. During this entire process, she kept making very rude and questionably racist comments about my hair type and how my hair will be “much better now” after the treatment (as if my hair was completely unruly and unmanageable which it wasn’t). During this time a third man walked in and she gestured and told him to go to the wash bowl but he ignored her (finally someone with class) and waited for my appointment to be over. For the second shampoo again, she was scraping her nails against my scalp, and again very roughly blow dried my hair. Overall, this was, without a doubt, the worst salon experience I have ever had (and I’ve been to at least 100 stylist of all backgrounds). I would highly suggest if you’re someone with Afro/ extremely curly hair to avoid this salon unless you want your hair fried, ripped, your scalp burned, and the worst service imaginable.
