I wish there was a way to provide a higher rating for this basketball academy. My son attended from October 2022 to just this past week and the only reason we are leaving is because he wants to return to a competitive swim program. The instructors are PHENOMENAL, the program so well thought out and supportive, and the environment incredibly encouraging to kids of all ages and skill levels. The patience with which the skills are taught amazed us and we will truly miss this program and the amazing staff that leads it.

.As an experienced PE teacher and mother of three children, I can testify that Magic Elite is well rounded program teaching kids the foundational skills they need for basketball. They teach in progression and spend time with your child reviewing their mistakes and highlighting their achievements. I like that my daughter, a beginner (age 10) is having someone consistently watching and reviewing her form and technique. My favorite part about this program is that it reminds me of what sports were like when I was a kid. This isn’t “club basketball” meeting 5 days a week and games all day long on weekends. This is skills practice with solid instruction for an hour twice a week and a game every other week on Saturdays (not interrupting family and church time on Sundays). This is very doable for a busy family with working parents. Things I love about this program:1. Practices are constantly moving at a fast pace with a warm up, conditioning, basic skills review (practice makes perfect), skill rotation that doesn’t get boring but moves quick and keeps kids interested while correcting their skills and ends with a balanced scrimmage.2. Coaches actually coach and watch your child as they practice. (Other programs glance over and miss mistakes).3. They talk, break down skill, and show kids how to fix their mistakes and praise them when they get it right.4. (Finally) coaches will stop in the middle of a game to review mistakes, (you traveled and this is what it looked like, don’t do this, instead do this etc). Kids are then able to comprehend the vocabulary of the game and meaning of their mistakes and how to fix them. This program is excellent for beginners and kids of all ages and abilities. My son who was 6/7 loved it before switching to soccer and my daughter who is 10 loves it (who switched from club soccer). It’s also a good mix of boys and girls. My daughter is tiny for her age and does not feel intimidated.

This review is about my experience with the Irvine location at Momentum Sports Center. My son has been signed up with Magic Elite Basketball and SoCal Elite basketball, and I have to say, I recommend having your kids sign up for SoCal Elite. Magic Elite will only communicate and provide information with only one parent (even if both parents have joint custody), whereas Socal Elite will provide information like game time and information related to your child to BOTH parents. I couldn't even get information when I asked if my child had checked in yet for practice. When I asked why both parents can't be informed, I was told they were not capable of doing it. If you are coparenting, they will not be able to accommodate to keep both parents informed or provide direct information to the parents. They only offer direct communication for the one parent listed on the account (basically, the one that pays them).

About a year ago we had signed my son up for a basketball league at the age of 6. We watched his first game and observed how he became overwhelmed and would quickly try and get rid of the ball- passing to the first person he saw- even if that person was on the other team! We saw his discouragement and his love for the game slowly dwindle… it was hard to watch. I looked around for a skills clinic that would help teach him the fundamentals of basketball and develop his skills. After a conversation with Coach Sean we signed him up right away and fell in love with the program! We saw our son’s confidence grow and his skills develop week after week. So much of basketball is muscle memory and their program aligns with that philosophy. Our son was able to regain his love for basketball and went to his league games with energy and confidence as he was able to test out the skills learned in a game environment. We continued with the program for a little over a year and due to schedule changes, had to to pull our son out. We look forward to when our schedule will allow our son to rejoin the program. I highly recommend their program to help build your child’s skills and confidence.

Magic Elite Basketball Academy is more than a developing basketball skills and confidence. It's fabulous. Most importantly, the coaches are amazing they give each player an important life lessons - resilience, cooperation, dedication, balance, respect. We're so happy with the experience. Thank you, Magic Elite!

Magic has been so good for my 12 year old son. He had never played basketball before but has learned the basic skills in a short 6 month period. The coaches are the best I have seen in kids sports and the culture is very positive. I was extremely happy with the Magic program and my son had alot of fun too.

My son started with not much experience in basketball… In less than a year he improved so much and absolutely loved going to his practices and games. The coaches are great. He started with coach Joey who is amazing. I would highly recommend Magic Elite, we were very happy with them.

Our son Jackson loved the program! You could see his improvement immediately after starting. He has the fundamentals down now to help him grow his skills. All the coaches are great, very patient, kind and knowledgeable. We have to take a brief hiatus but can’t wait to get back on the court with Magic Elite. Thank you!
