I set up an appointment to give platelets. The volunteer at the front desk was less than polite. When they started trying to find the veins in each arm, they had a lot of difficulty in finding a good vein on my left arm. The young man had two others check and apparently there was a network of smaller veins that were criss crossing or otherwise interfering with getting the proper access to the correct one. They were making a good effort to try and find it, but after awhile, I started getting nervous about how bad the whole process of even getting me hooked up was going and so I declined to try to give the platelets as now I was just too uncomfortable with everything not going smoothly. When I exited, I passed the staff that I had interacted with during this attempt to extract platelets. I thanked them for their time and effort as I passed by. They seemed to be very rude and distant with me. I will find another location in the future to donate blood and blood products.

This donation place overall sucks. There's more organization at the pop-up donation spots, you might as well just avoid this place & go to one of those. They have so many people on staff & so many chairs but they just sit around & make you wait. You'd think when you are donating your own time for free they would be more respectful & accommodating. Like I said before, you're better off going to the pop up donation spots if you don't want to waste your time.

I went there on a Saturday, and I ended up wait for a whole hour and a half even though I arrived 5 mins before my appointment time. After the whole wait, they checked my vitals and turns out I couldn’t donate because of low BP (which wasn’t the case normally). On the way out I told the lady at the front desk I couldn’t donate, to which she patronized ‘oh don’t worry there is nothing wrong with you’. Never going back? The only saving grace are the nurses who are polite

So here's the deal. Your experience at this location solely depends on the staff you get on the day. I've had the most delightful staff and the most rude. I will say that there is no sense of urgency for anyone to see you soon here so don't show up unless you're prepared to wait. At the end of the day, donating blood is for a good cause and great karma for you so try to have no expectations. You do get cookies and a juice at the end while you wait 15 minutes. Download the app - it's user friendly and has all your information at hand including your donor number, health stats and you can make appointments through here. Make sure you complete your Rapid Pass before arriving to save you a few minutes - this is also available on the app.

They no longer do antibodies test. Boo. Donors would like to get some info for donating. I won't be donating anymore till they bring it back.

I didn't go there yet and will not go after reading the reviews! I got a notification on Facebook that this place is in need for blood donations and I was ready to go for it! But with these bad experiences nope!

I donate platelets here every two weeks, the staff is outstanding. I started in Santa Ana in the 90's switched to here several years ago. They make me feel appreciated all the time.

I've been here a few times for my dad's special blood collection for his immunotherapy sessions. This location is super clean and big. I read some negative reviews of this place but in my opinion I really think it depends on who you get, and sometimes that is not the location's fault! My dad had a total of 3 sessions at this location for his treatment. The first one, we had a really nice lady but she was just not able to establish any stable line for the harvesting. Mind you, blood harvest is with a big needle and not the small one like the IV. She ended up poking around for 1.5 hr, 4 times, and we ended up there for half a day! Later, my dad's bruising was so bad that when he went for infusion on the same week, the nurse at UCI freaked out (we thought we were just the only one freaking out). So UCI called and the immunotherapy drug company called ARC to make sure my dad got a different, more experienced lady next time. The second time, he got Jennifer, which was a lady who assessed his veins back at the Long Beach location. Jennifer is someone who is on another whole different level of experience! I think she is someone who was born to do this. She established everything exactly at first try and he was starting this collection within 30 mins. The last session, we got a different lady (even though we arranged to make sure we would get Jennifer for my dad's last session and got the ARC's scheduling manager to confirm, still, it did not happen). We were very anxious to see another lady was going to take care of my dad but we were so glad she was also very experienced! Her name was Alani and she was also very wonderful! In all, everyone who was working there was very friendly, super nice, and wonderful! Our experience, except the first time, was also very good. I know when you go donate blood, you really dont know who you will get and you won't know who you should request... so it is really hard to say. But overall, out of the 3 times we went here, our experience was good.

You know what they say..... 3 strikes and you're out!1. First strike: Couple years ago last minute (Day of the scheduled appointment)..... canceled due to "Lack of staff". Ok..... hard to believe with such a large operation & facility but oh well.... Sucked it up!2. Second Strike: A number of months ago.... While there and having my BP taken by an female 20 something year old..... it was elevated (Not dangerous levels.... I am a practicing doctor for 35 years.....because I'm an Body Builder..... and have large muscular arms...... so you need to use an oversized large cuff to get accurate readings on patients like myself. Trained & knowledgeable medical professionals know this! I tried explaining that to this NOVICE... But no go in educating this poor attitude young progressive woke female. I requested a "supervisor " and guess what..... she said she was the supervisor! No blood taken. 3. Third Strike: Today..... checked in with front desk. Was taken back to the blood pressure, blood type, interview room. Had my face diaper on (They're worthless btw.... And most intelligent people know that)...... but it was ever so slightly below my nose..... and was given attitude by I'm assuming (See above Strike 2's sister!!)...........pull my mask up! At that point..... I'm over this place..... and just walked out! WAIT....... I should have stayed....... Because they're PAYING me for my blood!!!..... No wait...... I'm donating for free..... if you want to really break it down....doing THEM a favor....and they still act like they're doing YOU ..... a favor! Never ever ever.... Going back!

This is my main blood donation spot. They book up quickly so I generally make my next appointment immediately after I finish up.They are always busy but they stay pretty close to their schedule. You cannot be late as you will lose your spot. Five minutes is one things but 15 and they will likely reschedule.90% of the time the person drawing your blood is experienced. The other 10% it is a whole different experience. I just remind myself how important what I am doing is.

I have been going to this location for years. The staff is friendly and experienced (for the most part) and very professional. Even with an appointment unfortunately there is often a long wait, but if you just assume that it’s not a big deal. The facility is pristinely clean, kept nice and cool (in fact especially if you are doing platelets or double red I recommend bringing a jacket or wrap) and the nurses check on you constantly to make sure all is well through the whole process. I’ve had frustrating experiences at the school or parking lot drives with less experienced staff having issues hitting my vein, etc but never at this location and no bad bruising or anything after. Strongly recommend.

Went in to do platelet donation. Registration desk gentlemen was not friendly and proceeded to tell me my donation card was not valid. I have been donating for years, never was told that before. Then a young girl did my pre screen. Appeared new- a bit unsure of herself. Then in the procedure chair 20 minutes waiting on Don. Took his time. No sense of urgency. Visiting with others. I know this takes time so wasn't concerned about the slowness. Well the needle was not inserted correctly. After 2/3 into donation the needle pulled out of vain. Blood pushed into my tissue. So painful and pressure I could hardly stand. No one around to yell for help. Finally got someone's attention. Was disappointed the staff was not attentive. Didn't check on me often. No one providing care or comfort. Maybe too many donors. Too many to manage at one time. All stations were filled. Left in pain and was told to keep ice on it. Was told it will bruise badly and to take pain meds when I got home. I struggled to drive home. I guess this is a risk you take but the lack of care, concern and focus on the donors with needles in their arms was disappointing. No surprise they are desperate for donors. Won't do again.

I guess I picked the wrong box and the man berated me for taking an appointment from someone who could donate “power reds”, whenever the heck that is. I was so embarrassed. I was trying to do a good thing. If someone has never donated blood before how the heck was I supposed to know which box to check. Please fix you website and remind that j*** working there that people walking through the door to donate are VOLUNTEERS.
