I always support local, small businesses but their customer service and return policy has hurt my friends and family, including Venture threatening to post a video of their interactions. We asked them to post it because it better illustrates their poor customer service. To note, the item that was attempted to be returned was after only two days of purchase and with the receipt. Do not shop here.

Purchased a $200 long sleeve shirt from this store. Would not let me return even though I had the debit card it was purchased with and the bank statement, it was purchased two days prior. The reason I couldn’t return was because I didn’t have a receipt but what’s more disappointing is they didn’t even give me a receipt. Not sure if the store is just doing so poor in sales and they have to make policies more difficult to return goods. We are in a digital age and this needs to be changed.

I walked into this store yesterday and I was the only person in the store. There were 3 employees working there and not one of them asked if they can help me. I walked through the entire store stopped and looked at a few items, almost purchased something, but didn't, as I was never acknowledged, not even when I walked out.

I enjoy Ventures selection of goods (really love the expansion to the new space!) and their costumer service is always wonderful. During Covid, the owner literally delivered my purchase to my door. Free of charge. The other day I needed a birthday gift and stopped in on my way home from work, unfortunately only five minutes to closing. It took me a little time to pick out a few things and pay, but they didn't rush me and even offered gift wrap for me. I really believe in 'shop local' and Venture is a great go to.

While this store is well curated and I have purchased many items for my 4 boys and planned to do more in the future. I tried to exchange a $29 beanie for a $50 beanie. Yes I was going to pay the difference but since I did not have my original receipt on me they said they could not do the exchange. BTW, I could find the purchase on my credit card but the staff said it was the owners policy to have the original receipt. The beanie was in original condition with all tags from the store. I politely told the staff I would not be shopping here any longer and would donate the beanie to Goodwill. $29 is not worth anyones time, probably not even the time for this review but it has still been bugging me and I wanted to make others aware to keep that dam receipt!

Really sad to say we will not be doing business here anymore. I have been a customer since day one, and have spent alot of money in Venture over the years buying clothes for myself, my wife, and gifts for people. My wife bought a shirt here that shrunk up so bad that I couldn't even put it on after washing it. We washed the shirt in cold, on delicate setting as it's cotton. We used delicate, low temp dryer setting as well. I'd say the size large went from a large, to a snug medium. We were not offered a return, exchange or even store credit, but told to take it up with the manufacturer. I guess longtime customers don't matter. So we'll have to wait until after the holidays to try and get this resolved. My wife is pretty bummed as this was one of the Christmas gifts she was pretty excited about giving me. Perhaps going forward, Venture should tell customers that all purchases are final. I also want to note that we had a gift reciept, and are well within the return/exchange window. I have read Venture's responses to reviews covering return issues, and yes, we did take the time to consider the fit. It fit great before we laundered it, then it didn't fit at all. I have worn Patagonia brand for decades, and have several Patagonia Fjord shirts. This is my first Patagonia fjord shirt/jacket. I laundered this the same way as i have my other Patagonia shirts, which never shrunk like this one did. Someone stated while on the phone "the shirts are pre-shrunk". I checked Patagonia's website info on this shirt, and nowhere does it state that this shirt is pre-shrunk. Oh well, there's other places to shop such as REI :)

I have shopped here for years - but can no longer support this small business. The past few times I've been in, the gal working the cash register has been so rude. Around Christmas I bought several gifts and asked for them to be wrapped - they've always done gift wrap for me in the past. She just rolled her eyes and gave me boxes and ribbon to take home. I thought it was strange, but let it go. Came in the other day bought several gifts - we have a few birthdays in March - and again, just attitude from her when paying. Not friendly at all. It's such a weird vibe and makes me so uncomfortable. I enjoy supporting a small business and prefer to shop local whenever possible, but not when I feel my business is not appreciated. Just be nice to your customers...

Great store full of cool brand names and local artisan products! Everything is really cool - we loved their totes reflecting the local cities and bought one to surprise our daughter so we can stuff it full of local items to celebrate her college choice ! Great clothes, all priced really well, accessories, candles, art work and friendly service to boot. They also have an online presence so we have continued to shop here even after returning home. Will be back to shop soon

The store is beautiful, the merchandise is beautiful, and the owner and staff just so nice and helpful. Makes me feel like a human vs a number to ship here. Sadly, after a decade of shopping at Venture with tremendous loyalty, we have decided that we can no longer do so due to 14-day return window. Over the years I have gone out of my way, special ordering items online just to give more business to this wonderful, beautiful local business. Unfortunately just now realizing the short window, which just doesn’t work for our family, especially that we had to quarantine due to suspected and then confirmed COVID during this time. I called the manager and explained situation, who was unsympathetic and unwilling to offer an exception. Maybe it’s silly, but out of principal it’s hard for me to support if the support isn’t reciprocated to me as a loyal customer. Really really disappointing and sadder still that I will no longer shop at the store, my favorite in Lafayette.

Wow. And to think I was the only one who had a problem with their return policies. I bought several items and came in a few days later with the gift receipt AND the credit card I purchased it with, but they wouldn't credit me. Said I had to have the exact sales receipt, so if I lose that one paper slip I am toast. I said I have the exact card and they could look it up by date and time but she said, "That's the policy." Came back a few days later with the actual receipt and returned successfully, but I had enough time to reconsider the $158 (!) corduroys tried on on Xmas day and decided to return but the tag was removed and there was a single mark so small it could have been there when I bought it. But the tag removal was sufficient to reject the return. Again, "That's the policy." Just because you have a policy that you can point to doesn't make it reasonable if it it's different from most stores. You can get away with it, but you lose customers like me and the others below. So consumers beware, your overpriced items may not be as returnable as you think. The fact that you would actually text a previous client "1st world problems" speaks volumes of your contempt for your customers. 'The customer is always right' is a saying for a reason, but if you insist on treating your affluent clientele as if they are inherently dishonest, you won't be in business for long. And shouldn't be.

I rarely use yelp to review a business. I have been a good customer of this shop since its inception. I received numerous gifts from family members who removed the venture sticker with price tag and did not include a gift receipt and I was told that I could not exchange any of the items I brought. Owner referenced the print below a sample recepit that states one can not remove any portion of venture sticker or tag in order to be able to exchange. Policy- I guess I can understand but they way i was made to feel as if I were taking advantage of some situation was ridiculous. Be aware of their return policies as referenced on other reviews. All of these items can be purchased on line, the only reason I go into the shop is to support local retail and for customer service. Gave the lack of the latter, I will no longer support them with my business.
