A Safeway that is not far from Whole Foods Market. It is amazing that two grocery stores not far apart doing great business. I only gotten a sandwich from this location. Manage to go through self checkout right away and was out ASAP. The inside of Safeway isn't bad. Plenty of parking at this particular Safeway. With Whole Foods Market nearby I have not seen all the spaces being filled up. Not much I could say about the service since I only came inside for a sandwich but I will still give this location five stars.

I went to this store as it was en route to restaurant where I was hosting a birthday dinner for 15. In approaching the bakery counter, there were 3 of us waiting to meet with clerk. She approached me and then asked me to wait a minute as she made a personal phone call on her cell. All of us were rather taken back.I pointed to the size cake I wanted and asked to place order for 25 hrs later for pick up. She fumbled but found a pad - she said there were no pens so we provided. By then, I was a bit exasperated and offered to complete the order form as others were still waiting and she seemed lost.She said the only unclear item was color of icing for message - I said it did not matterMorning of pick up I get a call from Elsie that there was a problem - she was kind and professional but I indicated a filling and since it was a carrot cake not possible - no big deal so I reconfirmed pick up. When I got to the store I was advised that in lieu of the 1/4 sheet I was to pay for a cake that would serve like 80 people! Needless to say, I said no. The clerk called Elsie who recalled my call and charged me what I asked to purchase $36 vs $79 - a big difference.While everything was delicious and all guests took home an abundance of leftovers, I was totally impressed with how Elsie handled the matter. I quit using virginia hills Safeway due to 45 yrs of blunders and will certainly continue to use this store. I have always found It is well stocked and the staff is customer oriented - a credit to the manager and the team.

I pre-ordered a corsage and came to pick it up. They apparently lost the corsage and turned me away when I had already paid for it. I had them look and she refused but I had to push for it. Turns out she wrote the name wrong. Didn't even apologize. She was preoccupied on her phone. Terrible and racist employees

This review is for the bakery. I don't think it's too much to expect that the people who answer the phone to take down an order have the communication skills to actually take down the order. I don't mean a small misspelling in the writing - I mean the cake entirely. The very first question is what size, and it's all downhill from there. Wrong size, wrong color, wrong frosting. Despite repeating myself multiple times AND having the order repeated back correctly. So if you want a cake that's only going to feed half your guests, this is the place for you!

Well the place more than suited my purposes. However, a life form there by the name of Kimberly Hedemark has me wonder well just how did she come to be regarded as an asset to the store? Oh if you're looking to employ a bully you get an A+. But given her habit of gabbing like there's no tomorrow, for her to go off on others for same is really the epitome of ridiculous. Apparently the prior director (who is now at Orinda) had no problem with her being a BULLY. In fact in a report filed against Kimberly consisting of 5 instances of bullying, the prior director apparently did not think that the complaint merited any sort of action!

The worst customer service from meat section, cashiering and yes even the guy hauling all the carts is a jack$#@! I've read everyone's review as far as last year. The similarities are astonishing! Safeway headquarters need to shut this location down for bad actors! Rude butcher boy, rude cashier and rude guy collecting carts while I tried handing him my cart. He told me to "hurry up" because he was in the middle of the parking lot! And that pretty much was the last straw!

FALSE ADVERTISING why do so many Safeways say they have a gas station but actually do not. Very annoying especially whenever you're on E 0 stars for dishonest management.NO GAS STATIONThey probably sell expired meat too

I went to Safeway this morning to buy some flowers. I found some Valentine's Day flowers on sale for 75% off.When I got to the checkout, they didn't ring up at 75% off so I asked the checker to check because she didn't think the flowers I had grabbed were the ones on sale. She went to the flower department and upon her return confirmed the price was correct. When she went to make the correction, she asked the manager for an override. The manager came over and proceeded to question her about the price. Good lord you cannot believe your employee!Then the manager rudely made us wait while she also walked to the flower department to check - She shouldn't question the checker in front of a customer like that very rude and unprofessional!!! Especially since upon her return from her stroll down to the flower department the price was correct. Rude woman. No name tag either which isn't she supposed to be wearing one of those. I can't even believe someone with an attitude like that would be a manager ridiculous!!

This is the worst Safeway. Not only are they always out of things but people that work here are just so rude and unhelpful. I live in Orinda and am happy to drive out of my way to go to the location in Lafayette or Moraga because it's just so awful here!!!

I've been going to this Safeway for a long time. Everyone here is professional and friendly. Went here to stock up for Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving Day and they had everything I needed. They offered a great Thanksgiving Turkey meal combo for 2 people (around $20). It's great for us since we only needed food for 2 people and most restaurant combos offer deals for 4 or more. They initially incorrectly rung up this deal but they were very professional, friendly and quickly refunded the difference. Thanks Carmen (deli) and Linda (customer service) for your help and understanding on this. I also appreciate Sha Sha for always being an awesome cashier. She always greets my mom and I with the same friendly and familiar demeanor and it's always a pleasure speaking with her. I've lived in Lafayette a long time and this is my go to place for grocery shopping because of its friendly staff and great hours (24/7). It will always remain my family's first choice for grocery shopping. Please keep up the great work!

1 star for being Safeway, a store we frequent and for being conveniently placed off the freeway, on our travel route.As usual, great choices.We were just there this morning.The employee you have at the self-check area could use extra training in customer service --specifically, how to be courteous--after all, it is the customer who pays his salary .

For the life of me I couldn't find an item I needed so I asked for help, they didn't know so they sent me to customer service. The service manager Linda was awesome. Not only did she take the time to walk me over to the item, she also gave me some tips on how to add a little flavor with some simple extras. I also wanted to say the store manager Tim was amazing, he has a safway store to take care of but he stopped what he was doing to help me bring my groceries to my car. He didn't have to but he took the time to care. Thank you!
