I have nothing but good to say about the Safeway Lafayette Pharmacy. They keep close tabs on my refills and notify me in a timely manner, take care of dealing with my insurance and best of all, answer any questions I have. Great help with our vaccines as well, just about as painless as possible. I trust and rely on their expertise and professionalism. We are fortunate to have them as a valuable community resource.

I live in Orinda, but I use the pharmacy in the Lafayette Safeway because the folks running it are so helpful, cheerful, and efficient. ?

Went their during business hours and they said nobody is here to do western union payments even though it’s normally hours. I said it’s within their business hours and she said that maybe I should go somewhere else. It’s open they refused to help me. This was 8am on Sunday December 20th. The customer service was not helpful in any way

Friendly, efficient. Phone when refill ready. Never a long wait in line. Switched from CVS to Safeway, very glad I did.

Bite the expensive Lafayette tax and shop at Diablo Foods or drive to Lunardi's. This Safeway should be gone. The customer service is a joke. I was in the produce section trying to purchase vegetables but there were no plastic bags anywhere. I bought what I could manage then left as there wasn't anyone working in the produce department to ask for help. Three days later, same thing. No plastic bags but here was a person working in the produce department so I asked her, "where are the plastic bags?" She said they were not able to get them from the warehouse and that they would not be available ever. I found a bag meant to be used for apples and bought green beans. When I arrived at checkout I relayed this exchange to the cashier who I think is part of management. She called for this person to come to the checkout counter and asked her about this. In front of me the produce person said she had never told me that they would not have plastic bags. Now the cashier miraculously finds plastic bags under her counter and puts my single onion in a plastic bag. Hello? Is anybody actually working here who cares about the customer? No there are only people coming in, punching the clock and waiting to leave. Making me wrong in front of the rest of the customers waiting in line and then coming up with bags that should have been in the produce section from the start? How did that help? No apology was offered and none really needed as I will never go in that store or any other Safeway again. Sorry corporate America but you've just gotten too big and no one cares. I hope eventually these stores will pack up and head out. I will happily pay more to see a smiling face, a cashier who gives a darn and good customer service in every section of the store. Diablo Foods and Lunardi's are two stores who actually care about their customers. You just cannot keep treating people poorly and expect them to keep spending their money in your establishment. Safeway needs to regroup and figure out a new strategy for hiring and keeping decent employees who give a #hit.

Two stars for being bigger and having more selection than the Orinda or Moraga locations, but the service is lacking and they were out of both Monopoly tickets and the plastic bags for meat and produce on the morning that I came in. Picked up soda packs on sale three for $11, about four people ahead of us in line. The cashier rung up an extra one and the total came to $25 (????). When we notified her that she charged us for an extra one and that they were on sale, she stared at us. After some going back and forth over what the problem was, got the transaction canceled and we were sent over to Tammie in customer service to get rung up. Tammie was irritable and taking it out on her co-workers in front of me, my aunt, and two other customers. She clearly did not want to wait on any of us. By the way, watch out on the weekday afternoons after 3pm. The kids from Stanley come and take over the place, and it turns into a zoo of noisy middle schoolers running around with their friends.

Store has a good appearance, workers were friendly and helpful. Business was brisk but not jammed pack. Plenty of lines were open and I was able to walk up to a self service line. Gentleman taking care of these lines acknowledged us and said hello. We were in and out very quickly.

I went in looking for dragonfruit and a couple other items. I found the dragonfruit, no problem in the produce department but there was no price tag. Without having to say anything, one of their employees, Allen quickly offered to price check the yellow dragonfruit. He returned with the price and then asked if I would like him to check the price on the red dragonfruit. So he ran back to the register to then run back to where my husband and I were. Additionally, since I was unsure of the quality of the fruit he allowed me to taste it. And that led to a sale! Allen went above and beyond with his friendliness and help. Please give the man a raise

All I wanted was a bottle of Macallan scotch. They had to intercom somebody three times before a dude showed up with the keys. Then they made me stand in the longest line to make the purchase despite the fact that there were two lines with no one waiting at them...including the express line that I waited in earlier to ask for assistance at the liquor cabinet.

My doctor submitted a prescription for me Wednesday morning to the Safeway pharmacy in the Mt. Diablo Blvd. store, Lafayette. I purposely waiting 24 hours before contacting the pharmacy to see if the prescription were ready. I called in about 11:00 a.m. and got an automated message that the prescription had been filled and was ready for pickup. I was at work in uptown Oakland, about 15 miles away. I planned to drive by on my lunch hour, pick up the prescription, buy a sandwich at the store, and come back to work. When I got to the pharmacy there were no people waiting and only one person behind the counter. She was at the side window where people drop off prescriptions. I stood at the pick up area near the cash register for 8 minutes and she did not notice, so I left my place and went over to where she stood to bring to her attention that I needed to pickup a prescription. She was looking at the screen of a smart phone. She put it down and came over to help me, asking me my name, and verifying what the prescription was. She looked on the computer and then went to the back area to get it from a plastic bag with all other prescriptions that had been filled. She walked up to me and the register and said "your prescription is ready," dangled it about 6 inches from me, and said "but I can't give it to you until the person in charge comes back." It was 1:45 pm. I explained I had driven a long way on my lunch hour to pick up a prescription I had been told was ready. My comments fell on deaf ears. She could not have cared less. I left, explaining I would never come back. It took me another half hour to drive back to work, then go to my desk and begin the afternoon working. I never got anything to eat and had to wait until I left at 5 pm to drive home and get something to eat. Tonight I'm writing this and I don't have my medicine the doctor advised me to get Wednesday morning at my 8 am appointment. This is not the first time I have been to this pharmacy and had problems. They cannot conduct a routine transaction without interrupting the flow, creating problems, asserting an authority that they fail to realize obligates them to serve the public. Tomorrow I will call HR at Safeway headquarters and explain that when you advertise you are open for business during certain hours, you should be able to transact that business, lunch hour at 1:45 pm or no. I also will inquire from the secretary of state if there is an office that accepts complaints about pharmacists licensed by the state of California to serve the public. I would like to complain to a licensing agency in the same manner an aggrieved patient lodges a complaint about a physician.

The CEO of Safeway should make a surprise visit to this Store. And the one in Orinda. CEO of Safeway would be shocked.

If you love waiting in line, come on down folks! Hey, we even added more PARKING so we can cram more customers into our understaffed store. That's right, come one come all! Just remember to bring your favorite novel to read while you wait in line to buy your melted ice cream.
