Whenever I take my car for repairs, Denny H. fixes the problem. He is prudent, clever, honest and wise. His pricing is very fair. He is meticulous and thorough. I call him Doctor Denny.

This is a city of endless nail and hair salons, a minimum of two on every single block, even far from the main commercial zone. How can they make any money? Are these some money laundering scheme?

Denny is amazing when it comes to adjusting carburetors and timing... and diagnosing a problem based on a symptom. I call him Dr. Denny. Always fair and cheerful. I appreciate knowing he is there to help. He really puts my mind to ease.

We had a bad experience here recently. My wife was driving our 2001BMW 325i when it started to run extremely rough and the 'Check engine light' came on. Fortunately- or unfortunately perhaps- it was right in front of Lafayette motorsports. Dennis was nice enough to fit her in and quickly diagnosed as a faulty ignition coil and replaced it. He also warned that it would make sense to replace them all since the car does have over 100K miles. About a week later the problem surfaced again- running rough, check engine light on. I called my BMW mechanic in Benicia where I work and asked him to get 5 new coils and he was good enough to come to my house to replace the coils because of the possibility of engine damage. What he found was the one that was faulty was that Lafayette motorsports replaced. I called Dennis about it and he insisted that he had never seen that happen before and insinuated it may have been something the other mechanic did- even though it started to run rough before the other mechanic even saw it. He said he would take a look at it however if he could not find a problem - he would have to bill me for his time. Since to me it was obvious he would not find anything wrong and therefore I would be stuck with a bill- I am just going to have my Benicia mechanic replace the sixth one. BTW-the Benicia mechanic charged about the same price to come to the house and replace 5 ignition coils as LMS charged to replace 1

Denny has taken care of my X5 for a short time, but has been able to fix what 3 other highly rated mechanics could not. He definitely knows his craft.

Denny has taken car of three of my BMWs. I credit his care for getting my 1980 320i and 2002 X5 to over 130,000 miles each. But then, not a surprise knowing Denny is a UC Berkeley graduate! I now own a 2009 X5 Diesel. Denny is available for scheduled maintenance, but also last minute problems. I have just shown up when a warning light went on and Denny will look to diagnose and fix the problem. He is a wealth of information and passionate about providing the proper care for your BMW! My last service, he vacuumed and washed the car!

On July 6 I took my 2006 BMW X3 to Denny for new struts, as one had inexplicably failed at 60,000 miles, which is a BMW issue, not a Denny issue. He was slightly less expensive than the quote I got from San Leandro Automotive. Note that he prefers cash or check as he opts not to pay the outrageous fees demanded by the banks, which helps explain one way he keeps his prices reasonable.

A couple of months back, I went out to my garage and discovered I had no power steering -- just a lot of gurgling and whining! I didn't have time to see what was wrong as it was 6am, dark, and I had to get to work. I called Dennis at Lafayette Motorsport later that day and boy, was I impressed! Instead of just telling me to bring it in, Dennis talked to me about the power steering and what the potential issues might be. He game some suggestions for how to diagnose the issue, and was generally extremely helpful. That night, when it was daylight, I checked the car to see power steering fluid all over the floor. I called Dennis again, explained what I'd found, and agreed to have the car towed to him overnight. I left the car on the driveway and posted the keys through his secure key drop. The next day, Dennis called to tell me that the pump body had come loose and separated from the housing -- a VERY unusual scenario and something he'd not seen before (versus a hose failure etc.). Unfortunately, once he'd secured the pump back in place and refilled the reservoir, he could not get the power steering to engage and was worried that new pump was needed. He called again later that day with good news. "Pumps never fail" he said, and so he persevered with bleeding the system repeatedly and eventually got everything working!! No new parts needed! Dennis was thorough, honest and patient with the issue and extremely friendly to work with with. I won't hesitate to get my 2004 330i Sport routinely serviced at his shop moving forward. Five star service!

Dennis Hazarabedian is the best, honest, trustworthy, and friendly mechanic that you will ever find. I have been bringing my vehicles to him since 1989, when he was an employee at the same site for the former owner and have never been disappointed.

Denny (the owner and only mechanic) is the best out there. He's polite, gets the job done right, smart (he's a Cal chemistry grad), and he's been doing this for at least 20 years so he knows BMW backward and forward even the older stuff. Denny owns his place and is deeply honest (which he can afford because he's good at what he does). I'll admit, I'm his friend. However, you might notice going by Lafayette Motorsports that he's got a lot of friends. People just dig the way he does business. I've hung out in the shop with him and he's damn fastidious, he will fix the problem and it bothers him if it's not perfect. (that's a good thing for you)

I've been taking my 2 BMW's to Lafayette Motorsports for 5 years. I can't say enough good things about them. Dennis is incredibly thorough, fast, and well priced. I rarely write reviews, but I need to acknowledge the great service I've experienced over several years. Take your BMW here...you won't be disappointed.

Dennis Hazarabedian helped us SO MUCH when we recently acquired a used BMW. He is a great trouble shooter! There are plenty of BMW places in Berkeley, where I live, but I'm absolutely willing to take our car to Lafayette so these guys can take care of it!
