Zero stars. I'm not even going to waste time and energy explaining why. Just go anywhere else. Anywhere.

Wow, so impressed with Donavan Jones the Assistant Manager of Central Self Storage in Lafayette. He was so friendly, patient and helpful with me while deciding on a storage unit. I have rented storage units in California and England and couldn't believe how quickly and stress free Donavan explained the process, paperwork and rented me a unit. The place is clean, safe and has lots of parking. Thank you, again Donavan for your awesome customer service.

We've been storing stuff here for years. It's been fine, but recently spoke with Bethany at Central Storage and she is fantastic! She worked with me to make the most of the space and minimize cost...how many businesses have you known do that? They will continue to get my business!

Abusive auto phone mail system results in interminable hold times. Good luck trying to get access to storage from this outfit.

I thought first floor unit meant ground floor, not taking the elevator, push the B button to the basement

I stopped by this morning to get a few extra boxes and moving supplies. The woman working here (sorry, I forgot to get her name) was so kind and helpful. I really appreciated her happy demeanor. Sometimes it’s what makes all the difference. Thank you!

I didn't have a rental unit at these storage facilities, and after the abusiveness, bullying, unprofessionalism, immaturity, lies, tear downs and hate from the property manager Samantha Buckman and other tenants, I'm relieved I never bought into the discount offered when I rented one of the apartments. But, even though I didnt have experience with an actual storage unit at the storage facility, I did however, sadly receive first hand experience of the hatefulness and abusiveness from its Sr. property manager, Samantha Buckman, who unfortunately, was also the property manager for the apartments. Below is a link that leads to a more detailed review of Samantha's lack of professionalism, maturity, customer service skills, her derogatory, condescending, belittling and "I'm always right" attitude to customers, and her abusive and hatefilled speech, especially towards onsite staff. And thus my review is a mere forewarning of the type of customer service someone could receive when either renting a storage unit or an apartment, if Samantha Buckman is still employed. The mere fact that senior management supports bullying, hate speech and abusive behavior should deter anyone from patronizing this facility, regardless if Samantha Buckman is an employee. Violent behavior is supported, absolutely no repercussions come against the abuser, only the abused and bullied. And the company has the audacity to pretend they're against poverty by putting bins out for their customers to donate food for the food bank. Maybe instead of putting out bins for donations, the company shouldn't raise their rates. Don't try to call or rely on law enforcement, Lafayette police don't care and bullying in Lafayette is not reportable, unlike what the Sheriffs department told me and ALL the anti bullying orgs say.

STAY AWAY!!! This facility has absolutely the WORST customer service. Right from the get-go, they did not have the size unit they promised was available. I relented and put my stuff in two smaller units, which really does not hold as much stuff. Then almost immediately there were billing problems, with the wrong amounts charged, late fees added on, and before my second month was over, I received a notice of lien! Well, they had mistaken me for someone else, but I had to take time going to the facility. One other thing, their units are "approximate" in size...one of my "5x10" is actually "5x8", that's a 20% rip! Oh, and they're big on fineprint...want to move out? Better file a form before the first of the month, or they'll charge you an extra month! Superficially, they're nice...but when it comes to business...look out!

Received a phone call yesterday from Lafayette Central Self Storage. It was explained to me that they were in a transition phase and perhaps my requests got lost in the process. They did away with the lock fee and offered a full refund. While the process took longer than ideal, they nonetheless showed that they are an honest business that takes responsibility for rectifying any oversights. Thank you, Bethany and the rest of the team at Central Self Storage for your help in rectifying this situation.

Liars! I called in and they gave me a quote. I walked in they told me double. When I showed them the email about my quote they said it was only for first month. I specifically asked them if it was for the first month when I made the reservation. I refuse to do business with people that lie like this!!!!

My storage unit was broken last month (the first month I rented!); I've had 8 large bags of items stolen that I'm aware of, and continue to catalogue what's missing. I finally reported it to the Lafeyette police, who indicated they've had at least four other robberies since this summer, but no one at the storage office will tell you that. Amazingly, two other renters had visited the police station earlier in the same day to report additional incidents! In fact, when I asked the Central Storage regional manager how many robberies had occurred in the previous year, he stated that he refused to tell me. The office manager indicated they've been trying to get additional cameras so that they can improve the security, but upper management is unwilling to invest. The police office investigating the series of robberies indicates this facility has much less effective security than other locations, and recommends Moraga, which has a gated fence around the property.
