Calvary Baptist School is a great school for Christ-Centered curriculum and accelerated course material. However I am exceptionally displeased with Mr. Jerry Pate and his public shaming of students in his classroom. Specifically, blaming my child for getting "everyone sick" when I have doctor records clearing her as "not contagious" and able to attend school. He did this in front of the entire classroom put my 5 year old in tears for yelling at her and kicking her out of the classroom in front of everyone. There is a level of tact that you would think a teacher of his age, experience, and supposed "Christian Faith" would exhibit when dealing with fragile hearted 5 year olds. He clearly lacks that. Furthermore, my child is now being denied homework from this teacher, placing her behind or forcing her to complete a weeks worth of assignments within one day. He also seems to only misplace MY child's reading books that I paid $350 dollars for, which have solely been in his care since the first day of school. Also, forcing my child to complete a weeks worth of reading in one day. Thankfully my daughter is smart and a hard worker and manages to get it done. But she should have an equal amount of time to complete assignments just as the other students. I go above and beyond to ensure my daughters assignments are completed. Even turning her homework in early on Thursday's due to the other parent failing to get her to school Fridays when it’s actually due. I am proactive where it counts to make sure my daughter is on track with her school work. I wish that despite his completely out of line, far from provable claims of my daughter getting "every one sick" that he could still manage to set aside his prejudice and still make sure she gets homework like everyone else. She has it hard enough going between households during the week. Pick Calvary Baptist and skip Jerry Pate.

Awesome Christ-centered school for students preschool through 12th grade. Caring staff. Qualified and caring teachers. Great education. WASC accredited! Extracurricular sports. Annual science fair. Lots of extracurricular opportunities for the students! Small class sizes. Family environment. I highly recommend Calvary Baptist School La Verne!!
