I can't believe how well I was treated, in hospital for 20 days. All staff was courteous and catered to my every need. They were like family by the time I left. I can't thank them enough for making my stay there awesome. Doctors and nurses even cafeteria were so nice and very caring. Keep up good work

Dr's are good but avoid their insurance: Sharp Health Plan - Medicare Advantage. They say they cover behavioral health, but then they subcontract the care out and that changes who is in network and who is out of network. It's a real pain to then call and call to try to get it fixed. I recommend moving to original Medicare.

I agree with the others in that parking is very bad. Not enough handicapped parking. Why do they reserve the entire top deck of both structures for valet parking?! So rather than use it like I do for HANDICAPPED parking, they reserve it and most of the time it is empty. The few cars that are there are not valet but like me park there since there is absolutely no other parking nearby and those 20 spaces are empty, so why not use them? I use a wheelchair, so my options are very limited. I actually asked in the medical building, and they said they didn't even have Valet Parking. None of the employees knew why suddenly those valet parking spots ended up on the top deck. So no problem, I always park there ANYWAY! I just hang my handicapped plaque when I do. And I am not the only one who illegally parks there either. Many others do since options for us are limited. Why did you put those reserved valet parking spots up there?! Why not use that parking for people who really need it and really use it? Yesterday at least 2 dozen or MORE vehicles had to turn around and find parking elsewhere since there was NONE in that structure. But sure as heck, most of the 20 or so VALET parking was empty! So I just tell people to park there anyway, especially the other handicapped folks whose plates and plaques I can see when I am up there. You kind of expect more from medical places when it comes to things like, handicapped parking! But I guess management doesn't expect many elderly, aged, handicapped, injured, ill, or infirm people to show up at their medical facilities. Imagine that...

Healthy 43 year old father of 7. I've come in to this ER back to back days and left with the exact same problem. I was diagnosed with pneumonia (I've never had it before) and am experiencing a ton of pain and trouble breathing as a result. After returning the second day due to increased pain and breathing issues only to be told 7 1/2 hours later to just keep doing what I'm doing. They would not offer to help with breathing or pain issues. Please go somewhere else that is more concerned about the patient than their bottom line.

I went to the ER last night for breathing issues , at first it seemed like everything was going fast . But after they put me in a room , they forgot I was in there . It took 3 hours for a doctor to come and see me . No nursing staff or any customer care or even the ppl that take your insurance came to see me . They always do this one at the LA mesa er hospital . You seen elderly ppl just sitting in uncomfortable chairs and not even given a room to lay down . My situation wasn't as bad as alot in there and they just left me there tho without checking on the patient . I went in last year too to get checked for blood clots and they never did any CT scans just routine blood work they said they didn't have anyone to do the CT scan , mind you ppl were getting CT scans I had to go to a different er and they did what was needed . The doctor this time was nice and seemed like his hands were full .. no other hospital I've been too had ever been this bad . I heard ppl waite up to 9 hours . I'm not sure who is incharge but this hospital should be prepared for the influx of sick and injured ppl and the bed side manner is awful . They have plenty of room and the nurse that gave me my paper at the end for release , she was not even checking who was being released and had to get up to go ask and her attitude was one were she didn't want to be there , like she was put out because I asked her for my paper work , like thats your job . The other nurse that released me out of the room is normally suppose to give me the paperwork i had seen her walk by my room 3 hours peior back and forth but didnt say anything to me .. I get it that it probably not a happy place . But don't work in medical field if your just going to get on your phone and have ppl leave that don't need to be there and make room for others . Whole system is whack . It was that way even before covid too . They have never gotten better

Need more staff for one thing. Made an appointment for a Covid shot at 11:30 today. Was told it would be an hour wait. Been experiencing severe pelvic pain and was told to get a CTscan. First appointment late October! Did complain and got in earlier. Also need to see a urologist, first appointment December. Ludicrous

Nurses can be rude and slow. Seems that the quality of care has diminished. Too many fingers in the cookie jar.

The service here has gotten worse since the roll out of the new Sharp app. I sent my doctor a message on Monday and have yet to hear back. I've sent multiple messages through the app and called several times to have the same messages relayed by a Sharp team member. I've been told it takes up to 3 business days, we are now on day 4 with NOTHING. I've been going to Sharp for 20 years now and I think it's time to find another health care provider.

This is for the occupational department. This would be a 1 star, but the 2nd star is for some of the good nurses there. The 1 star is for how bad this place is when needing to schedule an appointment or follow up with the doctors. Alicia at the front desk of occupational is beyond unprofessional. She always has an attitude when I tell her that I had to hang up and call back because I have been on hold for over 10 minutes. This has happened to me many times in the past year, with her only. Today, she hung up on me in the middle of me asking a second question. No kind of professionalism at all. She needs to treat people on the phone as she treats people in person. We're all dealing with a medical problem and no way in hell we should have to deal with that kind of attitude to be able to proceed to the next step. A system is definitely needed to be put in place to be able to handle phone calls and in person appointments. This is just what happened today, but I have had many altercations like this in the past year with with Sharp Rees-stealy La Mesa Occupational. Mainly Alicia. DO BETTER!

Worse ER I have ever been to. I tested positive for covid, and called the 24 hr nurse line and with my breathing issues and high tempture she said to go directly to ER. I get there and the rn that took my information asked why I was there, I said covid he then actually say" again why are you here covid is not a concern that you need to come to the er for. I said your kidding the 24 hour nurse line said she was concerned for me, and to by pass the urgent care and go atraight to the er. This extremely rude rn then said I could put you down but it will take about 10 hours. He really could care less that I was having a very difficult time breathing. Crazy on every level.

Called the after hours pediatric nurse line for advice for the 2nd time in nearly 6 months (first time parents here) - both times = 0 star experience. After waiting nearly 2.5 hours the first time I received a call from an extremely passive aggressive nurse who asked what I would have done had I not been able to call their line (this seems to be a regular question they ask, as I was asked the same tonight.) I responded that I would have had to google the answer to the question and she replied "oh, Dr. Google" and then made some ridiculous rude comment about if I had all the answers why would I call them. I then had to remind her of the question she had just posed to me! The remainder of that call was awkward and she had a major attitude and did not provide me with any profound advice - I would have had less stress sticking to research online and her horrible attitude didn't exactly sell her expertise. Tonight the person who took my call to route it to the nurses made it a laborious process, forcing me to constantly repeat myself. She had a prolonged style of speech as if to waste as much time as possible and every single thing was repeated even though we are established patients there with files that should be easily accessible. If they can find you in their system as a patient why ask for repeated spellings of names, phone #s repeated back, etc etc? This is a line people call for quick advice for their babies and children. Even after saying and spelling the name of our pediatrician more than once, after validating all of the other info multiple times, I was asked what location we go to (!) when the Dr. practices from 1 location. Now, again we are approaching 3 hours out from my call and I have heard from no one. I love our pediatrician but the after hours nurse line is a complete failure. They need better management to audit these calls and to hire call center staff who enjoy helping people and can do so in a quick and efficient way. If you call and encounter someone with a fake sing songy Miss Rachel voice, hang up and try again because I'm 99% sure my request was never routed to a nurse this evening and that employee should be fired. Then if you ever get to a nurse hopefully it's one who enjoys their job.

The only thing good about this place are the security guards! While you’re waiting here for 6 plus hours they want to make sure you’re comfortable and actually went back to check on the status of my wait time!
