Peter is absolutely amazing! He has such great customer service . I appreciate the fact that he makes you feel absolutely welcome , like you actually matter and aren't just another customer to rush out. Such a sweet ,warming smile ,keep it up Peter !!

My parents were to bring in our family dog today to Petco for a grooming, about a week prior to the appointment my parents were told our dog would need a rabies vaccine. Luckily I work at a Veterinary Specialty Hospital where one of my doctors was able to provide us with a vaccine and gave us a certificate to present to Petco. My parents were told to bring our dog in early due to rain since the employees were given permission to leave early and when presented with the certificate they told my family that the certificate was fake and not valid. Despite Petco having the resources to look up the doctor who gave the vaccine and the contact information for the hospital they decided to not do that and refuse service for our animal blaming us all so they can go home early. As someone who works in pet care myself I am incredibly disappointed in the fact this that Petco would rather leave early and mess around than take the time to give animals proper care. Do not take your pets here

I would give this review "0" stars if I could. Our appointment was at 330p 3/30th and we called to confirm address around 12noon, for our 330p appt.,when we were advised that due to the rain, can we bring our dog in early(?), as the staff wanted to go "home early" (she said no name) due to the rainstorm. So in compliance I bring, Chloe, 8lb yorkie, in for her appt. with the rabies vac paperwork. The first thing when greeted and handing him the paperwork was he look at the form like I was passing counterfeit money. He looked at me and said he had to go get this examined at the In-store Vet Hsptl on site, that they would call to veirfy. I waited up to 10 mins just to have the employee tell me we can't take your dog this is not a legimate rabies vaccination form, in all honesty, " anyone could of filled out this form" this is NOT legitimate. I fetlt like I am being accused of a crime, of going out of my way and finding a blank Vet Vac form and filling it out, conspiring to commit a crime and then trying to pass it off like I am some hustler// some 2-bit criminal. I didn't argue because the first and last time we brought our dog to Petco for a grooming the groomer clipped her nails too short causing her to bleed and as a result they "comped" our grooming session. So that was my first mistake, coming back to where they butchered my dog last time. I didn't argue, I just said, OK, well thank you and left. Driving home I am thinking the whole time the staff did this so they can GO HOME EARLY. Unbelievable, don't take your dog here they don't care about your pet.

I took my dog with a valid Rabies Shot certificate and they thought it was fake. It came from Ehos Specialty Hospital for animals. They wanted to go home cause of flood warnings in Lamesa. DO NOT TAKE UR DOG HERE. THEY MADE HER BLEED BEFORE.

The store I would recommend. If you're in La Mesa and you need some pet supplies .(saw mostly dog products ) But if your allergies don't kick in you might have time to wonder around The vetco? Definitely would not be in my recommendation list . I asked for a nail trim originally for my babygirl but mentioned I wanted some sort of advice on nutrition. They ignored my nail trim request but sure was ready to insist on the X-ray . Thank you for the experience although we won't be returning

As someone whom works in costumer service my self ; and has dealt with many different management/ management styles I have never experience such an un-professional management until shopping at this store. My wife had previously worked at this store , and the day she was off we had went into the store because we had order some cat items off the website and we had some questions. Upon entry to the store there was no one at the front ; we looked and we had seen an employee and we had asked if our order had gotten picked yet from the floor ; come to find out the order was not showing. Upon receiving said information we went to talk to the manger , to get some clarification on our order. My wife had asked about the order and the manger had my a snarky remark saying why she did a delivery instead of picking it up in store. Which is not the point , rather or not she did a deliver order or a pick up in store order we still had questions. Furthermore I went up to the front counter to continue to ask our questions , while asking said questions ; the manger answer were very short and felt like I was a bother. She handed me the device they use to look at orders ; and behold our order but it's only 2 out of the 5 items we order. I let her know that we order five items and she said "well that's all that popped up , I don't know what to tell you" I proceeded to show her the order on line and she said " they are going to have to go to a different store and grab it because we don't have it" once that was said I told her that they do have it on the floor that we just seen it. While this was happening another costumer comes up ready to check out , the manger walked away from me and went to help the other costumer; which is not a problem at all ; but as someone who works in costumer service ; the manger should've not just walked away with out verifying that the costumer she was previously helping had no further questions. I was highly irritated after the interaction I found my wife and I tell her that she needs to talk to her boss or I am going to. After leaving the store , my wife gets a message from the manager stating "I heard what you partner said about needing to check me. We can have a conversation about it next time we work together. Have a good day. Thank You." As a manger that is completely and utterly un-professional and disrespectful. Because at the end of the day , we are paying costumers rather my wife worked there or not and my wife has nothing to do with what I said.

Was 15 minutes late to vaccine appointment due to traffic, just to be told by the front desk that my dog couldn't be seen because I was over 5 minutes late. Additionally, I was then told that I had to have a full exam done in order to get the vaccines even though I was able to book just the vaccine appointment through the website. Please do better, I was excited to start using Petco as my regular vet, but definitely not at this rate.

After my purchase of some crickets I wasn't given my receipt. When I asked for it I was told it was going to take a while to print because their system was slow so they weren't giving anyone receipts. Pretty sure they are required to give people receipts. Additionally, it was requested that my crickets be brought to the front. Instead I waited around by the register for nearly 10 minutes and then was told by another customer that I had to go around the corner to get them, not by the girl at the register who had seen me standing there waiting.

Starting a mealworm colony for all my fowl I breed. Asked if the giant mealworms are the same species as the little ones as I need older ones to turn to beetles. Associate thought worms lay eggs not beetles. Which is fine not knowing. But she asked her coworker who instantly started laughing like it was a ridiculous question and asked “why”? As in why am I wanting to start a colony. Felt made fun of on top of not really having any answers so I googled it. Only good stars as mealworms looked good and reasonably priced. I work for a feed store and no way do we treat customers like this

I wanted to leave a shout out to the staff member Julia who was very helpful to me when I was looking for ground walnut shells! She never made me feel like I was interrupting her and was super helpful and friendly! You are lucky to have her on staff! Thank you!

Nightcrawlers are always dead and moldy. I always complain. Today the associate didn't seem to care and I had to repeat myself three times and they seemed annoyed. This could have poisoned any reptile if they ate mold. I only come here out of convenience occasionally I don't think I'll be back.
