Dr. Cecil and team are wonderful. They are kind , patient and they took great care of our 22 year old Sun Conure, Skittles. Most importantly, Skittles was at ease throughout the experience and came home a happy bird!

PESC La Mesa saved my baby Taylor’s life after being run over by a car. From the vet tech that ran out to my car to get her stabilized immediately and all of the vet techs who hand fed Taylor, to all of the amazing and kind front desk staff, to Dr. Day & Dr. Willey who so patiently updated me regularly and took all of my calls, to Dr. Serdy who performed two life saving surgeries at once, and of course Connie the surgery tech who walked me through every step and finances so gently. I am so incredibly grateful. Thank you to the entire team at PESC La Mesa. You worked miracles and kept this dog mom as informed as possible.

I have never wrote a bad review in my life, but the lack of compassion/ money hungry behavior from this facility is absurd. We rushed our cat here last night because he had an allergic reaction to a topical flea medication. They said he would most likely have to stay for observation , because he was having a seizure. After about an 1hr 30min of being there they told us WE had to call poison control & it would be a $95 dollar added fee. Whatever. We did their job & called ourselves. At this point they had not even given my cat fluids or anything to flush out the poison . They claimed we could either euthanize him (NO) or keep him overnight which would be $1,000 (in the beginning) .. which turned to $1,300... which then turned to $3,000.. They said " He is going to die a slow painful death if you take him home tonight ." with the rudest attitude. We decided to take him home anyways, fed up with the mistreatment & wanting our baby to be at home. It is now the next morning, & he is running around , giving himself a bath, & acting about 70% himself today... Glad we trusted our instincts . Advise you not to go here.

My Doberman is a very nervous around Vet doctors, I must say that the associate who assisted us with him was amazing. My Dobie actually liked her a lot he was very calm. The surgeon doctor was very informative & compassionate. I highly recommend bringing your fur baby to Pet Emergency & Specialty Center in La Mesa if ill or injured.

I can't express enough gratitude for the emergency pet hospital and the incredible team, especially Dr. Day and Nurse Jessika G. Both were smart as whips, hard-working and very sweet. Their swift action and expertise saved our baby's life after a severe allergic reaction. Forever thankful for their dedication and compassionate care!

Our beloved Beagle Mikey was very sick and had collapsed in our back yard. He was freezing and shaking so we rushed him to the emergency clinic. The staff are wonderful and got him in as a critical patient. We sat in the waiting room worried to death he wasn't going to make it. He had been fine the night before and had eaten his dinner. After about an hour, the kind Veterinarian came out to say he was stable. They immediately put him under a warming blanket and applied fluids. After several procedures, including x-rays, ultrasound, they found he had a blockage. He was lucky since he eventually passed it on as it dissolved. He spent the night with a tube down his throat and fortunately, made it. The very kind Vet, Dr. Charles Kalb called the next morning to say he could come home. That was music to our ears! He's now resting and still a bit out of it but will be fine. We are very lucky to have such a facility in La Mesa.

I have used the PET Emergency Center on several occasions for different pets. I have always found the Vets to be knowledgeable and competent. They have ben life savers. The waiting times can be long, and the care isn't cheap. However, when you need advice and Vet care NOW, where else can you turn?

Dirty room (I wiped down the exam table myself because it had dirt and hair all over it and the floor the same) seemed like they didn't want to do their jobs and just take shorts cuts, they just want to up-charge for basic care.

My dog Layla ate a cantaloupe and started vomiting foam over and over, as she began to have a hard time I immediately called Pet Emergency in Chula Vista where I live. They for some odd reason told me to go to the La Mesa location. Once I got there, my dog was quickly looked at and examined by a doctor. She seemed to be doing better and was let go shortly after free of charge. The vet techs, front staff, were all super nice and personable! I was so nervous I'd be charged some outrageous amount just for having a look so it really made me so happy. Layla thankfully threw up the big piece this morning and is doing really well. Big shoutout to Jose who kept me updated, while being honest and funny! lol. Thank you so much Jose!

Dear Dr's & Staff,My heart can't begin to express how much ya'll mean to us. On December 28th @0530 my friend Paul brought our 64lb Husky German Kody into your emergency room. Paul was immediately greeted by your amazing staff and took Kody (Koda) to the back and immediately put him on oxygen. On the phone we were told Kody had GDV (Gastric Dilatation Volvulus ), twisting of the stomach. We knew surgery would've been $8000-$10,000 but with Kody already being almost 17 y/o we knew his chances of survival would be slim. We had the chance to see him. The sorrow in your staffs eyes let us know that no matter what they were feeling inside they were there for us and Kody. We knew it was time to say goodbye and him not bee in anymore pain. The patience and empathy your staff gave to us to spend that time with Kody after he peacefully passed is something words will never be able to express. His paw prints and nose prints will forever be marked on us, when we finally get the chance to make it happen.West Coast Pet Memorial did the most beautiful job to Kody urn as well as gave his a plaster of his paw. It was so beautiful done I cried again when I saw it. Thank you for all being so wonderful and doing your jobs day in and day out as I know it's not easy. You've made Kodys memory even more special.V/R,Dawn

I really enjoy the staff and level of service that they provide. We have unfortunately had to bring a pet that had passed to them, and they took care of them and properly cremated the remains. The staff were very supportive and compassionate during our difficult time. We have since been back for another pet's concern. The staff does a great way of triaging the cases that come in and are really great about communicating that with the clients. The staff really took the extra time to spend with us and answer any and all questions that we had. Thank you for always taking care of us and our pets!

My family had to make the heartbreaking decision to put down our beloved dog on Christmas Eve and were grateful that this practice was open, and more importantly that every single staff member we interacted with was extremely kind, professional, and made sure our family member went in comfort and peace. The price was reasonable and the options for cremation and memorial were appreciated. We also have family friends who have been taking their dogs here for years. Just wanted to leave a good review because there weren’t many and we truly had a good experience despite painful, devastating circumstances.
