It is really bad that they are renovating pool during this holiday season, we have to drive 10 mins to use the pool at the hotel in La Jolla Cove.the room is great, no pool usage did cause inconvenience for us :(The hotel is Not kids friendly I have to say :( , hope they can learn some tips from Disneyland hotels. The location is great, close to everything, a few mins drive to Torrey pines, La Jolla cove, UCSD and UTC mall

I recently stayed here but was not told they were doing renovations when I booked. The pool, hot tub, lobby & 2 of the 3 restaurants were closed. The sink water was soapy white & smelled and we had to use bottled water to brush our teeth & wash our face, The place was only at 20% occupancy and offered zero compensation for the poor experience. Multiple guests brought similar complaints and were met with the same “sorry” but no compensation. Ever since a REIT bought the property 2 years ago, the focus is no longer on customer service but rather flipping the property for a profit. I’ve stayed here several times in the past but will never return.Noteworthy details: It used to be special, but no longer.

Coming from Michigan, we made it a massive point to pick a hotel with a pool. We imagined having tacos and beers by pool. Breakfast by the pool. Laying by the pool. You get the idea.Upon arrival, we are told there is fact — NO POOL. I speak with the manager that said he will take the $40 daily resort fee off the bill. Please note, that $40 was for a bottle of water, coffee/tea… AND TO USE POOL.I asked why wasn’t it advertised that the resort has no pool and won’t for quite some time, he said “I honestly don’t know why they don’t”. So now I’m talking to a manager who doesn’t know much, but is only comping a resort fee that was for the pool use anyways. But don’t worry, you can use a neighboring pool that’s 10-15 minutes away and drive in a wet suit to/from there.I asked them to somehow better remedy this situation- include breakfast, include parking… big fat nope. Honestly, this was a horrible experience and will gladly tell others to not book here. Had this not been paid in full, we would have left.

Terrible management and experience with this hotel, it should be illegal for them to charge the resort fee and operate with the level of misrepresentation I saw.Like many recent reviews, we also were surprised to find out on arrival that pool area and lobby were closed for reservation. You check-in at a sad make shift lobby, and they tell you that you could go to a pool at a sister hotel ~15-20 minutes away, as if folks are going to Uber over and back in their swimming suits. This all should have been communicated at the time of the reservation or at least a couple days in advance (not the day of in a sad makeshift lobby).Booked one of the upgraded estate rooms “views of the lush garden or pool” but we ended up facing a parking lot and active street. The many restaurants is also a lie. The Trading Post, their cafe/breakfast restaurant is also under renovation so they run a shabby makeshift cafe operation in the same location as their small bar, where they charge 4-6$ for what should be complimentary drip coffee.A couple parts of the grounds are nice (once you’ve navigated around all the construction and makeshift areas). All in all, the despite all the pretty pictures, they are mostly a lie and definitely not worth the money.

Let me begin by saying that the staff at this hotel offered exemplary service and were fantastic. This is by no means their fault and I understand that it’s out of their control. On the other hand, their corporate team could have easily avoided this issue. The issue:Their pool and jacuzzi are closed for renovations and nowhere on their website is this mentioned. Not even an email or call was received to let us know. My wife and I chose this hotel just for the pool. We didn’t spend the night, left and rebooked L’Auberge. When staying at the Marriot in Newport Beach during their renovation, I received a call immediately letting me know their pool area was closed. If a 4 star hotel can do this, why can’t a 5 star?

We stayed here in September for several days for a conference. On the plus side, the hotel looks very good. It has a nice layout with many small courtyards, lots of plantings, and green turf most places. The pool is a good size, the hot tub is nice and hot. There are two restaurants with good locations. On the negative side, there is a huge variance in the quality of the room features. About 1/3 have a nice outdoor patio or deck facing a courtyard. About 1/3 have an outdoor patio that faces the parking lot or road. The other 1/3 of rooms don't have a patio at all. Lots like the one we were in just looked out onto a tree or bamboo bordering the parking lot. It would be nice to be more transparent about the type of view associated with a room when booking. It wasn't particularly full when we were there, and the rate we paid was not the lowest, so I wonder why we got such a suboptimal room.

Went for a spa day-Valet was super niceThe whole spa staff was very nice. Alexandra was my masseuse and did a great job.Karina my server was very nice and attentive. Food was fast and great.Areas of improvement- Pool was definitely dirty.- Pool staff was nice, but never once asked to take my order all while they were taking others right next to me. No big deal, just odd.- Not the fault of the hotel but whatever is going on next door to the pool is soooooo loud and annoying. I think its a basketball court or something? Guys yelling all day.Overall a really nice day! Most of the staff was incredible.

Paid about $180 a night. Wouldn’t feel comfortable paying much more. Good rooms and nice location.Breakfast is way overpriced and not very good at the Trading Post. Breakfast sandwich is half the price and tastes better at Starbucks.Park across the street at UCSD in visitor parking for $8.40 per night to avoid their excessive parking fees. I charged my EV for free there. Download the ParkMobile app.

My husband booked a night stay for our anniversary. Property is beautiful but was expecting so much more for the price you pay to stay here. It is a 4 diamond hotel but quality of food and service was ok. We had dinner at Mustang and Burros. Food was horrible. I ordered the cauliflower dish and it had zero flavor. My husband ordered the short ribs and for $56 we expect them to be amazing. They were not! I ordered the mezcal drink and it tasted like paint thinner. The waiter was nice enough to take those off our check. They had live music which we enjoyed. The bar next to the upstairs restaurant was great! Bartender was fun and even gave us a round for our anniversary. Breakfast the next day was very slow. Took about 10 minutes for someone to get us water. I ordered the omelette with heirloom tomatoes and arugula. Omelette was good, a couple leaves of arugula was kinda pathetic and tomato was not heirloom. My husband had called the spa a couple days before and they were supposed to call him back to schedule massages but they never did. Overall, disappointed but we made it fun and enjoyable regardless. Oh and too many kids running around.

Last minute trip planned and we so appreciated the attention to details from all the staff we encountered. From the check-in with Carlos to the amazing service from the breakfast staff at Greenfinch. Also, our son loved the heated pool.

I really had moderate to high expectations for the high price we paid to stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, neither of those marks were met in terms of check-in and the room itself.Check in at night was awkward and non-communicative- a group of people were standing far away from the desk, and the person assisting welcomed us to the counter without saying that he was already helping them. Thus, we stood awkwardly at the counter while he finished what he was doing, beckoned them back over and finally began checking us in. We made it through, but it was very hard to hear him and each step seemed to take longer than necessary. None of the on-site restaurants or bars were open after our 3+ hour drive, so we headed straight to the room. Our room was on the ground floor in a corner, and required a short, unguided adventure in the dark to find. The room itself was nice in terms of decor, but it was 82 degrees inside and we immediately turned on the AC. I thoroughly understand that our AC unit was in the midst of dying an agonizingly slow death. It ran constantly without incident until about midnight, when it shut off with a literal bang. It cycled on and off about once every hour and woke us up every single time as the thermostat would perform a 21 gun salute each time it turned the unit on. Up to 5 sharp, loud relay clicks and then the unit itself would come on with a bang. Thus, each time the AC did anything, it was excessively loud and we weren't able to get restful sleep. If you're a hospitality manager or engineer, do not purchase Verdant products for your HVAC environment. All other staff we encountered were eager to help, and very friendly. Our meals/ drinks on-site from Greenfinch and Mustang & Burro were delicious, though no one answered the phone when I called Mustang & Burro to make a reservation, and I never received a callback to the message I left. The pool staff was attentive, entertaining, and friendly when we spent some time there as well.Parking wasn't great. If you don't valet for $45 p/day, you self park for $38 p/day. Your room key gets you through the boom, but it didn't register when we tried to leave and there was no intercom at the gate, so I had to walk all the way to the front desk to get assistance. All-told, this delayed our departure by 20 minutes, which is not great when you're trying to avoid traffic on your way home.We stayed at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe in the past and hoped Estancia would be at least partially similar given the similar price point. While the grounds and majority of staff were nice at Estancia, we'll be staying elsewhere in future.Rooms: Horribly loud AC system. Do not choose Verdant thermostats, Honeywell is the way to go.

My friends booked a night at the hotel to celebrate their engagement! A group of us were excited to send the newly engaged couple a few gifts from the hotel (a bottle of red wine and chocolate covered strawberries). I called the hotel and was passed on to a few different individuals who provided the credit card authorization form and the menu to order along with the option to have a handwritten card delivered! How wonderful!I placed the order via email, and did not hear back, so I gave them a call. The hotel confirmed the gifts would be delivered with the card. No word from our friend, but I assumed they were having a wonderful night celebrating. In the morning we confirmed she did not receive our present. Turns out the hotel delivered a bottle of champagne and a piece or two of chocolate... Nice gesture but not what we had ordered an confirmed. I called in the morning to get it sorted out. They said oh we did deliver to the room, and I said you delivered items that we did not order or confirm, without the note as well. They were very kind and quick to apologize. They said they would get this figured out before the guests checked out and would give me a call back shortly. Did not hear from the hotel again...I was very disappointed that the moment had passed for us to surprise our friends, that I spent so long coordinating this and confirming multiple times, and nothing came of it. I thought this would be a relatively simple and meaningful request other than working through a 3rd party to have something delivered (which most likely would have made it with half the headache).

Took my wife on a birthday weekend here, superb location and atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and cozy, and there is a great pool and spa area. Service was quick and very amenable, and they were able to fulfill a late, last-minute room service dining request. My thanks to the staff, it was a lovely weekend and we will be back.

Massage at the spa was insanely overpriced. I booked a couples massage for a special occasion for my wife and I. I had heard this spa is one of the best in San Diego, so I booked it thinking it would be an amazing experience and worth paying a large premium. The hotel and spa are very nice, and staff was good. Our massage was in a tent outdoors. It seemed like it would be a nice relaxing set up and my wife and I laid down to relax for our massages. Massages start, and so did construction. Large diesel trucks idling nearby, backing up (beep beep beep beep), something loud and metallic clanking, and people yelling back and forth to each other. Of course, at no point when I called to book the session did anyone mention it might be loud, or louder than one might reasonably expect. For nearly $1000, I expected better. I could have gone to Massage Envy or another strip mall massage service for more than half a year (instead of just one session) for the same price and probably wouldn't have heard construction noise. Truly disappointed in the experience. I am happy to pay more for an excellent and unique experience, but I did not get that here.
