One of my favorite camping spots. The spots are private and the place is quiet and small, with tons of beautiful hiking trails and clean bathrooms.Restrooms: Very clean

Very well run park. It's a windy 45 min drive from Stanford, but you are then in the middle of nowhere as far as the peninsula goes. We stayed at a group camp site, which is great for that (water, bathrooms). I did not get to explore much of the park, but it looked promising. Nice creek going through the park.

This is one of our favorite camping destinations near the city of San Francisco, it is a beautiful place in the forest with a river and great hiking.
The park is open daily from 8am-sunset. The Visitor Center, Park Store, and Museum is open daily from 9:30am-6:30pm. Day use fees are always in effect and can be paid at the Iron Ranger located front of the Visitor Center. Fees are $10 per vehicle, $9 for seniors. Make sure to bring cash or check.
Please note that the road is very narrow and steep. There's no cell service in the park (closest is 3.5 miles away).
The campgrounds are very busy this season. They're open through November 1st. You can reserve campsites up to 6 months in advance through ReserveCalifornia.
However, the backcountry trail camp, Slate Creek, is open year round. Reservations are required. You can find more information on our website.
Happy Trails!
