I was told I could only rent a van with a credit card. No debit card allowed. They offered a 10 ft. moving truck instead but I don't like driving those big trucks and I was going to a place with some tight turns, so no thanks to the 10 ft. truck! My credit card was maxed out so I needed to pay it down a little bit and return the next day for the van. Well, turns out these U-Haul reps LIED TO ME about needing a credit card only to rent a cargo van. Here is the fine print on their website: ********** "Whether you a pay deposit depends on your method of payment. No deposit is required if you're paying by major credit card. If you're paying with cash, the following is due when you pick up your equipment:*" "In-Town truck - $100 or estimated rental charges (whichever is greater) One-Way truck - $100 plus rental rate" "A major credit card or debit card with a major credit card logo is required at time of pick up for all Cargo Van and Pickup Truck rentals. The total estimated charges for your rental are due when you pick up your equipment regardless of your method of payment. Payment can be made by credit card, debit card or cash. " ******** So, I could have used a debit card but they would have taken out a $100 deposit, which would have been fine. Who in their right mind looks at an ELDERLY woman like myself and thinks, "Yeah, what this lady needs to drive is one of our big trucks!" It's almost like they wanted to set me up to have an accident. I don't know if the entire U-Haul corporation is falling into the pit of a lack of ethics as so many of our corporations have, or if it's just this location, but I sure don't trust this company anymore. Bad company for the elderly, that's for sure. I've read some online reviews saying UHaul is a terrible place to work, so maybe the unscrupulousness is coming from the top down? But BUYER BEWARE about this company. And don't just complain online about them - complain to this agency if your items are lost, stolen, or damaged during a move:

I just want to to mention how tremendously helpful and professional the employees are that work here. Especially Amanda, who went out of her way to help me with a propane issue I was having with a special tank that I wouldn't have been able to swap out at any of the local stores. She saved the day for me and this wasn't the first time the staff went out of their way when my back was against the wall. Thank you Amanda and La Habra U-Haul!! You guys rock!!

Service was fast and super easy. Have always gone to Home Depot for trailer rentals but NEVER again. I love the ease of this place. I don't remember the name of the young man who helped me but he was such a delight. He was kind and so helpful. I picked up the trailer Thursday March 9th at 10am. Contract #78882743

Scam Artists in place... Basically we rented a small 10' truck for couple pieces of furniture. The rules of return were clear: 1. 45miles 2. Fill up the tank Our total trip was around ~ 40-41 miles and we did fill up the tank right at the return location in front of the person accepting the return. Why do we see $50 change on card ???

These people who work here are absolutely rude and trashy. We had a reservation and FAILED to tell us that we needed a major credit card in order to reserve a date and time. I had already given my debit card info ONLINE and reserved my time via online the day before and gave all my debit card information. It accepted my request and everything. UHaul is absolutely the worst.

Horrible Service! booked my rental roughly 4 weeks away from my move day from anaheim location and 2 days before, they required me to pick up the rental from this La Habra location. This added time and distance for the rental than originally planned for. I rented the truck for 6 hours and 335 minutes and I was charged for 2 days. YUP 2 DAYS RENTAL FEE FOR 6 HRS. not only that, the manager Sila is extremely rude in person. would not even make eye contact when i was 5 minutes late for my return. I paid 150% more than my original quote because the location was changed adding time to pick up and drop off, miles were added and was charged a 2nd day for being 5 minutes late.
