Never gave any yelp reviews but this pissed me off so enjoy my first review I've given for... anything. Literally. A male cut is reportedly $30, as someone said over the phone when I made an appointment, and when I walked in the stylist (some lady with dyed-blonde hair) sort of just side-eyed me and said I should to get a photo. For clarification, I am girl, I had really short hair (barely touching my ears kind if short) and I just wanted a male crew cut because I was bored of just buzzing my own hair. I showed her a photo of some guy with aforementioned cut and she barely even looked at it before cutting. Why ask then? Someone else walked in without reservation and the stylist didn't even bother cleaning up the cut and left. I got charged $40 solely for being female, even though I was asking for a male cut and got the equivalent of a meh buzzcut. Took less than thirty minutes and at some point she pulled the apron off and just cut my hair (I have a black shirt but it's not hard to see that there's cut hair sticking there). I didn't dispute the blatant upcharging because I'm just never coming back. I would have been fine with this if they'd told me that they'd upcharge me before I sat down but they said this after the cut was said and done. TLDR: Bad customer service, cut was hasty and not even clean/symmetrical. Upcharging and only telling after cut was done. I didn't even get to hear what her name was because she left to cut someone else's hair even though they just walked in with no reservation.

Sunyoung is the absolute best.. been coming to her since I've lived in the larchmont area now for 3 years wouldnt trust anyone else with my hair and for such a great price too

Be aware their information on Yelp is very misleading....the address shown here in La Crescenta is wrong, just in case you searched by current location like me. When I arrived at the wrong location (the funny thing is they do have a Kim Sun Young hair salon here in La Crescenta, but it is closed), I called them then I found out their location actually is in Los Angeles and will take 30 minutes for me to drive there. Even I am willing to drive there, they said they cannot keep my appointment till then... Very disappointed...They should have clarified their Yelp address is wrong when I called a few days ago to make an appointment. Or update the location in Yelp please! I take one day off for hair perm and coloring with them but end up wasting my time...

The salon is open and everyone still takes precautions with Covid. Everyone here is so nice and professional. Special kudos to my favorite stylist -Cathy You. She really knows hair and especially Asian hair. She spent 3.5 hours on my hair and I love the results. She deep conditioned my hair, trim off two inches with slight layers, and gave me summer honey highlights with blow dry/style. Cathy is the best and you won't be disappointed with her magic. She is the best! Cathy only works two days a week at the salon so be sure to make your appointment with her on weds or Thursday only.

The woman with super short purple hair literally butchered my hair. I had to walk her through the whole haircut cause she didn't know what she was doing. I even had to point out that the right side was shorter than my left side. If I didn't point that out she would've sent me home with uneven hair. She doesn't know what she's doing. I showed her multiple photos of what I wanted and she seemed to keep cutting the way she was comfortable. When I told her I wanted it shorter like in the pic I showed she was shocked and started laughing. Like there is nothing funny about this. also, DURING MY HAIRCUT, she starts cutting someone else's bangs because the woman who came in said she wanted a quick trim. I was literally in the chair and she was cutting my hair. She dropped everything and went to that woman because she was older than me and that's kind of a thing in Korean culture. Unprofessional, idk where she got her license but I could've done a better job at home cutting my own hair. I literally paid $40 to look like a psychotic mushroom head.

Updated: thank you, Alice, for another good haircut. Again, I've never had a problem getting an appointment here with scheduling even a day before. I enjoy coming to this salon to get my hair cut, usually by the lady who sits near the windows and with shorter hair (sorry, didn't catch her name). Can't speak about the rest, but my stylist is efficient and haircuts are consistently good the way I prefer. I've never been in there during busy days or had to wait very long, I usually just call ahead but even on days before or of I've never had a problem getting a cut. 25$ for a men's haircut, wash or two in between, I'm happy. Would be nice if my Korean was better though so I could carry a conversation.

Love this place, I have been coming here for 10 years now. They know my hair so well, they don't force brush go theough ny hair to hurt me.

I just got my hair cut and entire hair dyed light brown color with Angie . She is great Hair designer, she answered my color questions and she took real care of my hair ! The outcome of this hair color and cut was magnificent ,feeling handsome and upgraded. LOL I can't stop smiling I just love this transition my new look. I definitely recommend Angie . I will be back to get my hair by Angie again~~ Thank you so much

They somehow jack up the price every time I go here, but since this is the only place around here that can cut decent ( for Koreans such as myself) I can only come back here.
