“Great selection of books, graphic novels, stickers and all kinds of other items. Super friendly staff and beautiful store. Independent bookstore offering much more for those interested in BIPOC artists. So glad to have stopped in while visiting from Dallas.”
“One of the best independent bookstores in California. They have a huge selection of books and other gifts. I enjoy the wine bar in the store too! This is a must visit for any book lover”

210 E Main St, Alhambra“Nucleus is an art gallery that caters to more modern artists in the genre of pop culture, anime, and local flavor artists.
A nice, clean esthetic that provides a wonderful space to display the art. There are two stories. Enough room to display many different artists, which switch out on a regular basis.
There are also meet and greets as well as signings. Depending on the artists, the crowds show up to meet people they admire.
Great place to peruse and buy art.”
“I initially found a rare book on AbeBooks, and Book Alley was the seller. I decided to call and ask for photos of the book before I spent a few hundred on one book. The gentleman took my email, and I received an email back within the hour with photos attached. I bought it online, and I received the book only a few days later perfectly wrapped. Very satisfied with my purchase.”
“First, I'd like to preface this by saying I have never left an online review for anything. I'm just not that kind of person but the extraordinary service I received has been so far beyond the norm, I felt compelled to comment.
It started when I received a book I hadn't ordered. I felt sure a mistake had been made by a second-hand bookseller from whom I had ordered a different title. Fearing my book had been sent to the true buyer of this book, I contacted the Huntington Store (after hours, I'm quite certain) to inquire how we should resolve this error. I awoke the next morning to find an email from Lynsey Hand with the answer to the mystery. The book had been a surprise gift from my brother in Japan. (Yes, he is that great of a brother!)
I wrote to thank him and to recommend he take every opportunity to patronize this bookseller because I was so impressed with the packaging of my book against damage in transit. He recommended I write a review.
Over the years I have had numerous books, many collectibles, damaged due to inadequate packaging.
This book arrived wrapped in bubblewrap, cardboard, and packing paper in a sturdy cardboard box.
I have learned since 1.) it was packed by a lady named Emily (Outstanding job, Emily) and 2.) The Huntington store is not a second-hand bookseller but is, in fact, a beautiful museum with incredible botanical gardens.(My brother forwarded a Huntington newsletter.)
I can do without another visit to Los Angeles, but the next opportunity I have to visit Southern California, I plan on making the Huntington my destination spot and look forward to spending a liesurely day at this beautiful museum and its grounds and, perhaps, shake the hands of these two women who made such an impression as to prompt an old curmudgeon to write an online review.
Thank you, ladies!”
“I love this store! I could spend hours perusing everything they have for sale. So unique and creative! Plus, it's connected to the La Luz de Jesus art gallery, that's always a treat. Short drive from the Griffith Observatory!”
“I can always find what I'm looking for & even things I didn't know I needed. The energy in here is always amazing...warm, welcoming & positive. Just all around great vibes! The staff is super knowledgeable & helpful. I came in once unsure of the exact stone I needed but was able to tell the gentleman helping me what energy I wanted & he helped me decide on a great Obisdian stone. I've also got my very first tarot deck from here.”
“A perfect neighborhood used bookstore. Helpful owners who led me straight to the sections -and book I came in hoping they would have a copy, which they did- I hopped on down. Even found a favorite kid's book which is rare. Thank youuuuuu. Will be back!”
“As a learner/lover of the Armenian language, Abril Bookstore is one of my favorite bookstores ever. I love browsing through everything, and always find something interesting!”
“I had the pleasure of working for the owner of this bookstore, and I can tell you from personal experience that her heart is to bless others and give them resources to help grow them in their walk with the Lord.I also got to witness countless people who were blessed by what God is doing through Kings Cross.Highly recommend this business to anyone.”
“The two employees were so friendly, and best of all, Pippi melted my heart. Will come back again from Vegas. Really liked the book selection as well. Pretty cards as well. (I am typing as my wife and daughter are shooting complements.) We will definitely visit sometime soon.”
“My new absolute favorite bookstore in Los Angeles! Beautifully set with a wide array of books, and an incredibly friendly and helpful staff that keeps me coming back. This place is warm and inviting, and also has a really insightful selection of books on the Mideast conflict.”
“This is by far my favorite bookstore in Los Angeles and our go to for any book that they can order for us. No more Amazon! We always love dropping in here and talking to the staff about what their favorite new reads are, and they also give great advice when looking for something more specific. Support them!”
“I wish they brought back large book stores. This clean book store in Burbank is large enough to sit inside and start reading a book, bring your kids for story time or walk around the toy section.”
“I've been visiting this store since 1984. This may be the best automotive book store in the country. They have a great selection of new and used automotive and aircraft books, magazines, DVD's and related items.”
“Really nice bookshop with a great selection of books and vintage posters. I visited a couple of weeks ago and bought a Casablanca book and poster. I was looking for other books on Humphrey Bogart and both the shopkeeper and employee that was there were very friendly and helpful. *As an aside, I am getting a puppy in a couple of weeks and naming him Bogart, so I had to pick up some Bogart items while here! I would definitely visit the store again when in LA. I also checked out their online shop and they have a huge selection of items to choose from. If you enjoy films this is someplace you must visit!”
“Quite literally the most amazing book store experience. The store owner was extremely kind and did his best to help me find the books I wanted. The book selection is huge and the price is reasonable considering the fact that he has to pay for books to be imported from Korea. There are a lot of books aimed towards Korean learners. There is a section for Manhwa and some Manga as well. They have bibles that are double translated with English and Korean together. Honestly, it was a huge blessing to end up there!!!!!”
“Trading with a trusted account manager is what can make your dreams come through. For me Taisha Carson has the best trading strategies to win. I never believed on any post recommending online trading until I gave a try and the outcome was great for me. Making $10,500 out of $1000 was a whole lot of profit for me.”
“This is a busy bookstore, but with all of the customers they have, they still were able to help me. They were polite and helpful. Only reason I gave them a 4 star is because they didn't have the magazine I was looking for (2600). Either they were out or they no longer carry it. They did look it up on their computer but nothing came up for the magazine. I hope they were just out of them, I'll keep looking”
“Small in size but beautifully curated bookstore, that actually have a sizable inventory. They cover all the basics but with a very strong fiction section and hard-to-find titles. The buyer for the store is excellent.”
“One of my fantasy illustrations from the L. Ron Hubbard Writers and Illustrators of the Future contest was published in a book. Galaxy Press and Author Services are amazing companies to work with!”
“I'm just messing. LOL. I only wrote that review to see what kinda comeback burn she would come up with. That IHOP one was good! But it didn't make me laugh as hard as " another reason not to live in San Diego" comment on that other review ?. This is such a cool bookstore. Its got a cool vibe and layout. Pretty nice selection of books. Well done, well...done.”
“The only challenge is the abundance of choices here. If you or know someone who collects rare books, this is a great resource to find something unique. Something different. Something classy. One of a kind.”
“Visited here last week to check it out after the ownership change a year ago. They carry English manga now too as well as Mandarin. You can stay and read at the store for a fee or rent or buy just like the previous owner. The place is still nice and clean.”
“This store is wonderful and the owner, Alfred is very knowledgeable in all things military and print. I recently relocated my 93 year old father to LA to live with me. My father is a long time military and aviation book collector, rc aircraft enthusiast and fine oil paint aviation artist. Alfred offered a wealth of information on all those subjects and more as we make contacts in Los Angeles to liquidate my father's collections. Thanks Alfred, see you soon!”
“Beautiful little shop located in basement..Both of my boys were doing their confirmation within weeks apart.I was able to get them each a lovely gift to have blessed on their big day.the lady who helped us was very sweet and helpful.I think I'll be doing all my gift shopping there from now on!”
“Beautiful store! Everything you could ask for, books, icons, incense and gifts for every occasion. Lovely customer service and I can't wait to stop by again soon!”
“So many cute, practical, and inspiring religious gifts! I went in to pick up a Chinese Bible for a friend and was surprised by the abundant choices there are! I am so glad we have this gem in SGV!”

5002 York Blvd, Los Angeles“Under new ownership since July 2020, the Pop-Hop is a worker-owned indie community bookshop & creative/educational space. The intriguing window display caught my attention and drew me in. Once inside I was captivated by the whimsical décor and lively atmosphere. The store carries new & used books with a focus on art, design, & pop-culture. You'll also find children's books, classics, and lifestyle publications. They also have a variety of hand-crafted items, which are great for gifts. I was surprised to see the vast array of Zines, which is really cool especially since I published my own music zine for many years. The owners host monthly events & workshops for the community so check out their website for more info: thepopshop.com *Metered street parking & residential parking.”
“Just a delightful, charming, slightly eccentric (in the best way) little local bookstore. A much more intimate and gentle shopping experiencing than schlepping to Vroman's and fighting for parking. The staff is always so friendly, they do excellent (and free!) gift wrapping, and they are happy to order anything that they don't have in stock. I try to support them whenever I can.”
