$6.77 a gallon for 87 octane gas and $7.00 for a Coke Zero and York Peppermint Pattie. In addition, the restrooms were absolutely disgusting.

Dirty, not friendly staff stand around talking to each other.Outrageous prices on gas a food {2$ more than most of the central coast and central valley}and no prices listed for most food items and drinks so get a couple energy drinks that normally two for 6$ at most gas stations. Get a shock at register for 30$ for a couple of Starbucks double shots and a monster . couple candy bars.

Probably the worst place you could stop on the way down 5. Every gas station at this exit is $1-$2 a gallon more expensive than going a few exits in either direction. Convenience store is also terribly overpriced.

Price gouging on gas. Valero next door was $5.45 a gallon and Shell $6.76-$7.06 on 5-14-23. How can that be? They know they are in the middle of nowhere and take advantage of people.

Never thought I would join Yelp with intentions of reviewing gas stations, but I thought if I can help anybody save some major $$ then I'll do it.So Silly Me volunteered to pay for gas at this stop in our roadtrip to Sacramento. At $6.79 a gallon I figured this might've been the normal price the further north you go in CA, so I went ahead and filled the entire gas tank. So imagine my frustration when continuing along the 5 Freeway Northbound and seeing towns with posted gas signs at $4.39!! Now I'm kicking myself for getting fleeced for that extra $2.48 a gallon, over $35 total for the fillup! GRRR!! (that's the sound of me getting mad, and also my Daniel Tiger impression)And it's not just Shell, but every gas station at this corner is charging around $6.79/gallon. So YES, every gas station in this town is in on the price-gouging, price-fixing, or whatever you call it.And it's not just the gas. But the Food Mart inside is expensive as Hell. There weren't any price tags on their snacks, but when my wife brought a bag of chips to the register to temporarily appease my child's hunger the charge was $4.89!I would've given this place One Star, but at least the clerk was very friendly when I asked for a reprint of the receipt. And their toilet flushed without overflowing after I did #1, so I'll give it that.So my advice is that if you HAVE to stop at Kettleman City for gas then just get 1-3 gallons. Enough to get to the next town where prices are more normal. If going South this would be 35 miles to Lost Hills where there are couple of gas stations at $4.29/gallon* (I believe they're both cash/debit only places). If going North you only have to go 13 miles to Avenal where there's one place at $4.39/gallon*And the other towns along the 5 Fwy are in the 4s as well, so if you can plan your gas usage accordingly then drive past Kettleman City entirely without a glance.*Gas prices posted on GasBuddy.com as of 5/2/23

Literally nothing in the store has a price tag. You have no idea how much anything is going to cost until you go to pay for it. And it’s all incredibly overpriced. Compounding that is that they won’t let you use the restroom until you buy something (paid outside gas doesn’t count). The only reason to do this is to rip you off. Also, the gas is $2 than you’d pay a few miles earlier. This place is just a giant scam and if I knew someone at Shell Corp. I’d call in a favor and get it shut down.

PRICE GOUGING. BEWARE!! $21 for a juice, cookies, and gummies. There's no prices on anything so you don't know how much you're spending

This is the 2nd or 3rd time here in a 6 month span. Every time it smells like sewer inside. I would not suggest buying food from here or anything the employees touch. I feel like there is some sort of bacteria on everything.

Gas prices here are $1.75 more than gas prices at gas stations 70 miles away! If you drive on Hwy 5 try to use Google Maps "gas stations" search that shows you price per gallon and plan your stops accordingly.
