We just came back from Joan's guest house, after spending a great little weekend there hiking with our rescue pup Kirby. We stayed in The Cottage, which we found to be cozy yet comfortable. We were provided everything that we needed for our 2 night stay and didn't feel like anything was lacking. It's located in a private and secluded property so for us it was super quiet and peaceful. The weather was perfect as well, so we didn't need to use the AC at all (though we did turn on the heater in the mornings as it can get chilly - the heater warms up quickly!). As another reviewer stated, Joan really is the shining star of this guest house. She's got 2 sweet rescues and they got along well with our dog. Joan even bought us organic produce to stock the refrigerator, which I really appreciated. She's really friendly and can give you advice on anything in the area should you need to. Joan really made us feel welcomed, and I'd be very happy to stay here again. There are some great restaurants and markets nearby, not to mention the Jack London state park which we took full advantage of. It was great spending a day out hiking and coming back to a very comfortable shower and bed. Thank you Joan!

Joan can be pleasant during short stays. Enough said.

I stayed here at Joan’s lovely home for a weekend. She was cheerful and helpful. She recommended places to see, places to walk, places to eat. And we had wonderful conversations over coffee in the morning and cool water in the afternoon. The wildlife was a terrific plus—hummingbirds galore and two sweet poochies. Highly recommended for a quiet weekend getaway.

Joan is wonderful. The cottage is immaculate (although snug). The dogs love the large enclosure on the north side.

So our host was wonderful the location perfect. Joan really takes care of the place. Although when it comes to food or refreshments you want to probably bring staples with you, there's not a lot around. There's one good restaurant close by -salt and Stone and that was good. We picked this place because it was dog friendly and it was as advertised including a wonderful place for the dogs to run. They could use an update on the flooring in the guest suite... I'll leave it at that. Close to lots of amenities including wine tasting.

Nestled in the northern CA Valley of the Moon wine country, it's relaxing, beautiful and peaceful.

Wonderful, quiet, cottage experience with close proximity to Kenwood and Sonoma valley wineries. Joan is a thoughtful, kind host with connections to local businesses. This location is dog friendly.

We have been guests at Kenwood Oaks before, and chose to go with our favorite Guest House after a several year absence. The best news was learning that the property had escaped unscathed in the fall fires in 2017 and finding it with even more upgrades to the exterior gardens and patio area-beautiful! Kenwood Oaks is a perfect place to relax, unwind, and enjoy a beautiful setting with wonderful amenities and a host (Joan) who attends to your every need and is a great local information source. Despite the solitude, you're literally minutes from several wineries and some great dining in Kenwood and Joan turned us on to a new restaurant and a small family vineyard we'd never visited before-both were wonderful! When we said we wanted to do some hiking, she informed us of an event at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park that was a hike surveying the fire damage from the prior year and learning about how the landscape and environment were responding. We learned a lot and really enjoyed the views. When you add in the great value in terms of what you get for what you pay, it makes choosing Kenwood Oaks a "no brainer" for the best place to stay in the Kenwood area in our opinion.
