My spouse and I had an absolutely lovely time at Fort Ross Lodge! After a long day of hiking we were looking forward to a nice soak in the communal hot tub, but it was unfortunately out of commission during our stay. The staff was kind enough to open up a private one at an empty unit for our use and it was magical with a really special view when the fog would pass. Will definitely return on our next time in CA!

Third stay here. Our favorite destination to leave the heat of summer. Warning- it can get COLD here. This is the coast and fog is unpredictable.
We always pay a bit more for the private hot tub. Rooms are staggered to aid privacy. It’s quite a trek out to the cliffs. A wood burning stove with daily portions of wood is supplied lending to the wonderful ambience.
Yes, the floors are buckling. Yes the wood is weathered. But it’s wildly neat and kept up around here, not like pristine city hotels but more like “Come paint the landscape” feeling. Our room this time is about 19’ wide furnished with a king sized four-poster bed, table and chairs for two, desk and chair. There is a small kitchen sink with minimal utensils and plates to dine in. Small dorm type fridge. TV with direct TV on it. WiFi provided. Barbecue.
No marble or granite here. Love the rustic. Great to get out of the heat and dreading the return to 105 degrees after three cool days in the upper 60’s.

My husband and I recently spent 4 nights at the lodge. The rooms were comfortable and had everything you could want including comfy robes. The setting is nothing short of stunning and the managers and staff are friendly and helpful. The area has numerous attractions with hiking, winery, beaches, and the historic Fort. The store is well stocked and the coffee bar and deli are amazing . We will definitely go back !

We paid 300 plus for our room for one night. I would expect the room to be near perfect.
It was very dirty! Place was very musty. The back concrete area where the hot tub was is a mess. The railing around the pad was rotten and in disrepair. The flooring was cupping, Looks like it has been wet. The windows were very dusty.
I would never stay here again..

Location Location!! Beautiful views of the ocean and a nice path through the brush and flowers to get even closer.
The staff is super friendly and helpful.
It is a remote location, which adds to the charm. The deli across the street is well equipped with everything you need.
Highly recommend!

AMAZING PLACE. ? Scenery so beautiful it don't look real! Room was fantastic. Nothing like soaking in a hot tub while watching the sunset.
*Also the employee "Anthony" was super helpful and had some GREAT waterfall recommendations!

One of our favorite stays on our drive up the coast. Cozy, comfortable and scenic. Our room had a wood stove, sliding glass door onto a patio and a kitchenette. Perfect for sleeping in/lounging in bed with a cup of coffee and a good book!

We love our stays at Fort Ross Lodge! This hotel has stunning views of Sonoma’s rugged coast and has a cozy cabin feel to it. You get the best sunset views here and the wood burning fireplace makes for a very relaxing experience. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Great little space. Loved the view, and the room is comfy. King size bed is fabulous! Cable didn't work and the floors needed some help but otherwise a cozy, well appointed space. The staff was great!

We really enjoyed our stay! Amber was very helpful for making our stay special. We were in room 14 on the front with a hot tub. Views were great, felt very quiet there with nice walking trails. The rooms are a little dated and could use a few more things for the price but overall would come back ♡

So I booked this place for my wife and I to celebrate my 50th birthday.Seemed like a reasonable value for what was offered. Upon arrival, I went to check in between the hours suggested on emails (Suggested: 3-6:30pm). I arrived around 3:30pm. No one was at the front desk. Not a big deal as there was a note that it would be a moment for someone to come. I waited.....and waited...and...waited. I then attempted to call but there is no mobile service for me there (FYI ATT users). So now I had no way to reach anyone. Thankfully someone came finally. Friendly. We checked in.The first impression as we drive through the place: The outsides of the buildings are in dire need of repair and update. Why should I care since I am not using the OUTSIDE of the building? Well it is indicative of the overall care and concern the property owners have of their place. I understanding being near an ocean and that "rustic" term used often...but reinvestment could go along way. Very much is on the verge of being called "run-down".Our room inside was ..okay.. though. Clean but also could use an update. There were insects in the bathroom. Ok I can handle it but again...how clean is it? Finally though - the bed killed it for me. This was room 17 I believe I was checked into.I sat on what felt like a giant foam block and sunk in so far it felt like being in the middle of a net...trying to climb out. Very disappointing and I worried about even being able to get a good night's sleep. We had a dinner reservation up the road at another Lodge. We arrived there for dinner and on a hunch I inquired about room availability. They were immediately accommodating and let me check out the room and bed before taking action. Thats all it took. Reserved a new room at this adjacent lodge. I went back to quickly check out of our original room at the Fort Ross Lodge and lo/behold..again no one at the desk to let me check out asap. The nice person who originally checked me in did arrive shortly after (she was walking her dog...totally fair im a dog lover). I tried to quickly explain I was leaving because of the bed being too soft (there was more but I did not have time to get into it) and hurry back for my dinner reservation. She stood shocked and still did not advance toward me when I was holding the key out. Then her partner arrived and he asked what the issue was. At that point I just needed to go. I put the key in the box and felt relief leaving. I do not fault the staff for questioning my challenge about the bed. I think if you are to be in the office available between 3-6:30, someone should remain there at all times. I also think the overall facility needs a serious update, starting with the beds. I got an overall untrusting/creepy sense of the place. I would not recommend tbh. I am not trying to be harsh in the star rating, but I also wanted to provide context to any reader so they can make their own star rating. Maybe insects in the bathroom is a 1 star for some. Maybe a big foam block bed is a 5 star winner for others? lol
