Absolutely horrible place. They don't seem to actually want their animals adopted. We put in an application for a kitten and they denied it because apparently I work too much and wouldn't be home with the cat enough even though my husband works from home. When I called them about this they said it doesn't matter because it was already in their system and they wouldn't reconsider. Our Vet was even our reference and could not understand why they denied us. They have so many animals that need to be adopted, however don't seem to want anyone to adopt them. Shame on them and this place. I wouldn't ever support them or give them any money at this point

I found my new dog (Oreo 2 - now Max) here. I live in Stockton and thought the personnel friendly and helpful both on the phone and during my visits. The shelter was very clean and the animals well taken care of. I appreciate that they are careful before adopting pets. They checked my references, home and yard before agreeing to let me adopt. My new dog is perfect and is now in his forever home. Thank you to the Humane Society of Tuolumne County and their personnel.

This was the best experience we have ever had. Harley, now Hetch, loves his new home and we are over the moon in love with him already. He is super playful and Hella smart. Potty trained at 4 months, knows so many words and actions, and very eager to learn. The staff here was AMAZING! I was determined to leave with him and they allowed it to happen. He's my best friend and such a great addition to our family.

We lost our chi weenie about 3months ago to stage 4 cancer. He was a animal shelter rescue 12 yrs ago. Diagnosed with Diabetes 7yrs ago. We have a female deerhead who is extremely lonely due to the loss of her big brother. Found the perfect fit for our family on their website. Put in the application for him. They called our vet and denied our application due to her being 2monthe late on her shots. Due to Covid and the loss of Trigger we have been behind on this. Don't get me wrong they where polite, but basically we were judged on something we had no control over. Even after I made an appointment for Chloe to get her shots they shut us out. I am flabbergasted by this. They are begging people to adopt. You will pay alot of money for the rescues and this is how you find homes? Just shocked by this.

We adopted cricket, a little Yorkie girl. She is a delight and Jackie was wonderful and especially helpful. We had a wonderful experience with our adoption. It's good to adopt and give an animal a forever home. That's what cricket will have with us.

Horrible experience at this place, my yorkie of 15 years passed of kidney failure in February when I felt ready to adopt a emotional support dog there first the hours are very sporadic, then you can't even walk in the door until you fill out a app in line and they check you out thoroughly I'm 64 years old and have had dogs all my life always had vet care and fully vaccinated they called my vet denied me because my previous dog was not on heart worm meds which is not required in the valley where I lived at the time which my Vet confirmed when questioned this she said it's their policy it dos not matter what the vet says I still questioned their policy she said they are nonprofit and the can make their own rules then hung up on me.

Columbia is a semi rural area and your business sent a nasty letter to a lady who own roosters without investigating. Telling her to remove her chickens out of Columbia. All because a lady who moved to our area does not like chickens. So we all Columbia residents can't have farm animals? I understand a barking dog but roosters? It is that case are you going to end also removing the roosters from Columbia park too? What about people who own cows? Please read and understand the zone areas of our county.

I really wanted to adopt a pet from this place but their regulations are pretty absurd, they said we couldn’t adopt a pet if we didn’t have a canine before and if we did that we would need vaccinations of that canine,my wife and I had a American Bulldog 11 years ago that passed away of a heart attack and we lived out of the county the vets that we took him to didn’t have our records of any vaccinations so this place said we couldn’t adopt because we didn’t have a record of the medical vaccinations and if we didn’t have a canine before even though we did we can’t adopt a new family member, which we really wanted to do because we have two boys that would have loved one of their puppies not just for them but for my wife and I! I’ve had full bred wolves as puppies as a child my mother was in the wolf rescue for many many years so I have a lot of training with canines not just dogs but wolves for 20+ years and this place said we couldn’t adopt because we didn’t have a record of vaccinations...just IMO not cool at all,we would have provided a very safe environment, not just that but a very lovable and gentle family that would have made any CANINE happy! Just don’t get their regulations especially when there the only close facility that has a wonderful selection of puppies and grown adult canines! Wish they would change a few of their regulations because they are missing out especially their canines that really need a good home!

The staff was always responsive and kind. We loved the casual atmosphere and getting to visit with the cats and dogs that were roaming happily. We are now enjoying our Pepper, and thankful for such a positive experience, to help find our new family member(who is already feeling at home).
