August 2022 by Rob T.
On August 10th, 2022 I sent an ACH of $..... from my checking account to open a TD Ameritrade account. The next day I was able to view the account online and was awaiting for the funds to be verified. On August 15th, I was restricted from logging into my account. When I made a phone inquiry, I was told that my account was closed because of suspicion of fraud or theft. No other details were given to me other than that. I requested that the funds be returned to my checking account but was told that someone in the fraud department would get back to me. No one from TD Ameritrade has contacted myself by mail, email or phone as of August 25th. There are numerous Better Business Bureau reviews from clients that were caught in the same scam as I and it's surprising that an established firm is scamming clients by taking their funs and holding them hostage.

I walked in here to try and close my account because it was compromised and I soon as I opened the door I was told I was at the wrong bank. There was a white older woman and an Asian lady. They informed they weren't with TD Bank. What the heck is TD Bank? I'm obviously there because I have an Ameritrade account. What is wrong with your judgmental front end workers??? Why don't they have better customer service?? I said okay thank you and I walked out.

I drove 20 minutes from my home and arrived at 4:59PM and a lady was locking the door, and said to me she was sorry and could not let me in. I just wanted to deposit checks.

I called into customer service at 6:00 am this morning and finally was able to speak to someone at 6:49 am because I am unable to use the funds I transferred last week to buy some stock. It is passed the 4 business day hold. After speaking with someone who had no clue what he was saying I was disconnected. Now I am on hold a second time where the wait time is 60 minutes. Perhaps sometime today I will find out why my funds that are sitting in my Ameritrade account cannot be used to buy some stock.

They offer NO customer phone support. If you don't understand something on their website, or if they make a mistake on your account (which they do), they will NOT make staff available for phone support. They don't respond to emails either Sure you can call the customer line, but the wait times are often over one hour. I've had them disconnect the call after waiting 30 minutes. As far as branch support, there are no direct dial numbers to reach a branch representative. Better off with Edward Jones where real people answer the phones.

Joined TDA in December 2020, healthy 6 figure account. No response to emails other than a form letter. Can’t get through on the phones. Add the negative effects from the restrictions they implemented that helped manipulate the market this week. Not the quality company we thought were getting when signing up. Now we’re going to have to look elsewhere and forced to change to get real service. To Mr.Thomas Butch your service disruption cost our account and unknown others money. How can we trust you in the future? Do you have a plan to make this right ( ie massive investment in customer service support increased and based in the USA) Whats your plan about the losses you’ve helped create?

Horrible and worthless app. Features do not work and when you ask customer service for help they just tell you to try again later. Wasted two hours trying to deposit a check on mobile app and customer service was not helpful at all. I will be moving my investments elsewhere.

I have brokerage accounts at TDAmeritrade, Robinhood and Fidelity. Today, I placed two identical Orders to buy a certain stock at both TDAmeritrade and Fidelity. I actually placed the order at TDA first, then the second identical order at Fidelity. Strange, only Fidelity was able to execute and complete the Order. TDAmeritrade was not able to execute my order; in fact it is a Day Order, meaning it will stand to the end of today. Additionally, if TDA were to have executed my order I would have been charged a commission of $6.95. At Fidelity, all stock orders are 100% FREE. This is another great advantage. I'm glad I was able to complete my order with Fidelity and not TD Ameritrade.

Avoid TDAmeritrade!! Really had people who hide behind from customer complaints. Chris in compliance is a child. Avoid at all costs!!
