I seriously should have read the reviews first. But because someone else actually booked the hotel for us, I did not. But I did actually put the deposit down, which was $100 a night. We stayed 3 nights. This is the most I've ever had to pay for a hotel deposit. And we've stayed at BETTER hotels than this. Anywho it's been over 2 weeks and they are still holding on to my deposit. I've called them twice and the first time they said wait 2 weeks. I then called my bank after 2 weeks and they advised that Sonesta is still holding on to my $300. So I called the front desk and the guy that answered was so rude. He just kept saying CALL YOUR BANK. ok sir, I've already done that. He says WELL CALL THEM BACK. He never asked my name or any of my contact information. He didn't ask what days I stayed there or anything. He just kept saying CALL YOU BANK. Still unresolved. I'll have to dispute this with my bank now. Really inconvenient. For a hotel that doesn't even serve free breakfast, parking was $39 a day, RIDICULOUS!!! And one of the elevator was broken my entire stay, I seen another review that said it's been broken for 3 months. I'll never stay here again

Honestly not a smart move for the hotel to continuously increase their INSANELY expensive parking rate. If you want your night rate to be $200 just like almost any other hotel then do it. Don’t add up the cost by hiding them elsewhere (destination fee, tourist fee, $39 parking fee). I did not come back here after a year to find out parking went from free to $39, to stand in the line for almost 20 minutes to check in. Initial customer experience already negative and im not even in the room yet. By the time I get to relax in the room I’m not in the mood for it.It used to be good experience when I stay. Now I am never going to come back here again. Such a disappointment.

This hotel was just updated! I’ve stayed at Sonesta 15+ times within the last 6 years. The rooms are better even though they were already nice before. The views are great, especially if you face the Main Street. Hotel is super clean and staff is super friendly. Rooms have walk in closets and mini fridges. In the middle of the hallways, they have a microwave and a washing and drying machine.Rooms: Rooms were just updated! Rooms have actually flooring and not carpet.

It's a very nice hotel, clean and beautiful however, self-parking charges 39$ per night for guests and valet is 49 which is very expensive. I don't think any hotel guest would like to pay a high parking price plus they don't have complimentary breakfast. Other than that it's a nice hotel

Very modern and beautiful hotel in Irvine! The view from our room was amazing. The staff was also super kind and welcoming along with the hotel and room being very clean. 5 stars in every aspect.

The room overall was nice, but for such a nice hotel, the front desk blonde lady at check-in was lacking so much customer service. I thought it was just me getting the vibes, but the first thing that my boyfriend said as soon as we went to the room was how rude she came off as. We could look past that if it weren’t for the bartender at the lobby completely ignoring my boyfriend as he took a seat at the bar. I sat at the lounge area near the front of the entrance waiting for him to get a drink, but after 15 mins, I looked over and saw two bartenders, one was one was on one side, and the other was servicing the side that he was on. He was not given a look a single time. My boyfriend ended up leaving after 15 mins of waiting without a second glance before we just gave up and went upstairs. For such a nice place, the customer service was subpar, which is surprising as I deliberately chose to book here after looking at the Google reviews with such positive feedback and customer service. Room was nice, but lacked the overall experience as we got such disappointing customer service from those two.

I went to visit a friend staying in the hotel. The first thing that turns me off is the parking fee. $10 for the first 20 min.

I came here after getting locked out of my Airbnb without any of my belongings. From check-in to check out the entire staff was so kind and ensured I was taken care of. I showed up after a long stressful day and David, one of the valets, helped get me checked in and made sure I was OK. The following two days Reggie and Edgar helped me take all my stuff up to my room (after I recovered my personal items) and then load it into my car at check out. While my stay was initiated by a bizarre series of events, I’m grateful to the whole staff! If you’re looking for a clean, quiet and safe place to book I highly recommend it! I definitely plan to return!

TL;DR : Met our needs, but we'd like to explore pricing policies elsewhere before our next visit.Update: Checkout was more time-consuming than I expected because I had to show reception my Sonesta-generated email that said that the reservation price included the daily resort OR DESINTATION fee of $19 (+ $.035 state tax + $1.90 city tax). Of course, this was honored. It was my fault for not having printed out the email and reviewing it with the staff when I was checking in.Thanks to David for his polite and helpful greetings when we drove up. Check-in is swift with three possible desks. Thanks to the reviews here for alerting us to the water-bottle charges. No charge: The exercise room is large, with weights, and has a pitcher of ice water and cups. There is a large decanter of lemon water in the lobby that you will need to ask the front desk about re-filling.The shampoo and soap dispensers sound like an efficient idea, but the springs on the buttons eventually fail, so check that your dispensers work before showering or bring your own products.I called the hotel directly and reservations came up with two different rates, one of which included an optional $27 noon check-in rate. Try to get written confirmation on the parking rate because the posted rate is $39 nightly self-park. (The staff graciously honored the rate that we quoted as having been told over the phone.)Our room was surprisingly quiet. We opted to use the staircase, which is clean, unlocked, and clearly labelled, except on floor two. Front desk helpful in calling an escort to help us find the entry and "unlock" it (which turned out not to have a lock). I hope that this information simplifies your stay and inspires the hotel to have its staff take the stairs one time.Nearby activities: 2.5 miles to houses of worshipWalkability: 2.5 miles to houses of worship. Many large intersections; sidewalk on at least one side of the street. Felt safe, but did not see police enforcement for traffic and speeding.
