Shibuyala is a specialized store that carries a wide range of Japanese and Asian beauty and personal care products. Notably, it’s where you can find our favorite foaming hand soap, which dispenses foam in the shape of a paw print.
Here’s what else you can expect to find:
1. Personal Hygiene Products: The store stocks a variety of women’s hygiene items, including sanitary pads and other essentials.
2. Hair Care: There’s a broad selection of hair dyes and treatments, catering to different hair types and needs.
3. Fragrances: It offers a collection of perfumes, including both popular and niche Japanese scents.
4. Aroma Sets: You can find aromatic products like incense sticks and aroma kits, perfect for creating a relaxing atmosphere at home.
5. Shaving Essentials: The store has a variety of razors and shaving products for personal grooming.
6. Oral Care: A good range of toothbrushes and other dental care items are available.
7. Bath and Body: The store features an extensive selection of soaps, shampoos, and other bath products to keep you feeling fresh and clean.
8. Cosmetics: It excels in its cosmetics section, offering a wide array of makeup products such as lip gloss, lipsticks, mascaras, blushes, and more.
Each section is well-organized, making it easy to find exactly what you need. This place is definitely worth a visit!

Love this place! The best Japanese and Korean skin products, for cheaper than you can buy from import websites or Amazon, and much cheaper than Sephora. And they frequently have great discounts. Favourite beauty place around

I deliberated whether it was worth my time to leave a review but I echo other reviewers feedback regarding “profiling”. My wife and I were oddly followed in this seemingly innocent store. Never greeted and only watched. Terrible and bizarre experience for absolutely no reason. Fix yourselves as your behavior is unacceptable. I was never treated poorly while I was stationed in Japan and was saddened by their blatant disrespect towards anyone not fitting their ideal archetype.

I actually loved the products, but I won’t be returning. The other negative reviews are spot on. I was followed around the store and it made me uncomfortable. They are not subtle about profiling customers. It’s unfortunate that an otherwise nice store was ruined by the management and staff.

This store has the needed variety and brands that you cant find at large markets/groceries or even other coametic stories.
Sales people are gracious and helpful.
This is my goto until I travel back to Tokyo.

I contemplated leaving a review as my experience was not very pleasant. As one walks into the store a ringer continues to play by the door. A couple of ladies walked in before me and we were greeted by Hanna, though when I walked in I was not greeted. The store clerks seem to be very pleasant to everyone who was of different ethnicity other then my own. As I asked questions, they snubbed me and made comments under their breath and did not help. As asked for help again then one of the clerks finally helped me. Though the information she gave me was very basic. As I heard the other clerks be very helpful with specifics to the others customers than myself. I was followed around the store and got stared at, but not to help me. But to make me feel unwelcomed. I felt profiled, keep in mind I was dressed very professionally and polished. It is very unfortunate for the company, owner, manager, and clerks for their prejudiced conduct. Shame on you Shibuyala.

Excellent service from three ladies. Explained different types of sunscreen to me carefully, many varieties of selections.

Really good wide selection of Japanese products - I found things here I have only been able to buy in Japan, and I’ve been to ALL the Japanese stores in LA/OC/online?

Really great selection of Japanese and Korean products (think makeup, skincare, health, haircare type products). They have a lot of popular brands here, and a lot of the products have the labels in English below them to help you navigate the store. Most, if not all, products are fairly priced (similar, if not cheaper, than other similar in-person stores).
The space is a little cramped, but I think they use the space well. It's well organized and well stocked! Just mentioning this here in case you're someone who doesn't like tight spaces.
I definitely plan on regularly shopping here in the future!

SHIBUYALA has proven to be one of the most unwelcoming places in OC for skincare products, particularly for individuals of Black or brown ethnicity. Despite being a frequent visitor, my recent experience at the store was fraught with discomfort. Despite being one among many customers, I found myself being singled out and closely followed by the staff. It became evident that I was being harassed solely based on my skin color. It is disheartening to witness such racial profiling, and I believe every customer, regardless of their background, deserves equal respect and quality service. This incident raises concerns about the need to address issues related to racial profiling and ensure that all customers are treated with dignity and fairness.

One of the most racist places in OC for skin care products for me. If you’re black or brown person try to avoid it. I recently visited SHIBUYALA and unfortunately, my experience was full of uncomfortableness. Despite visiting the store many times and being one of many customers, I was singled out and followed by staff. I noticed that I was followed and harassed because of my skin color. Every customer deserves equal respect and good service not racially profiling and treat them with disrespect.

Came here looking for a Japanese hair blow dryer and an essence that I already knew they carried. Saw some hair straighteners, but not a blow dryer. I asked a younger employee and she didn't really know what it was? Or maybe she didn't know if they carried it. Regardless, she asked the older lady that works behind the cashier and that lady gave me a weird look. The younger employee finally said that they don't have anything and I said "okay, thanks" (younger employee was nice about it) then I proceeded to grab my essence and head over to the cashier to pay. The older lady was busying talking and so I stood there for a bit. Then when she turned facing me...she gave this very uncomfortable look and vibe to me again! This made me so uncomfortable like I was not worthy to be her customer or something. I almost left without purchasing anything but I drove too far to not get my essence! Not coming back here again.

This location is a one stop shop for all of your j-beauty needs! This store location does a great job capturing the fun essence of Japan. It's a true representation and a little pocket in Irvine. Hanna is a face mask connoisseur! She's honest and was a great help for my skincare goals. I can't wait to come back again for more products!
