The customer service at this place is seriously lacking. Weird vibes. The service is inconsistent. The weird part is they all seem pissed off. Some days it’s fine other days the vibe is really off.

Terrible customer service. Hostess that has been there since at least during the pandemic, as we have been going there for about 5 years ago is arrogant and unapologetically rude. It is not just one time but been multiple times and this last time was the last straw. Food is good which is why kept going there, but not at the expense of being treated demeaningly.

I came in at 11:30am when it opened today. The server did not take my order till 11:45am. Said it would be half hour to fulfill. I did not receive my order of more than$100 till 12:50pm. Terrible customer service. Won’t come back anytime

Krin roll: deep fried crab shushi. Taste great. Hamachi: big portion grilled hamachi fresh and tasty! Veggie salad on the side is ok. Lunch combo: our friend likes it. The fish looks delicious. Also ordered grilled squid (ika yaki). Fresh and yummy.

One of thee best sashimi in town! It is sooooo fresh you won't go wrong!! I consider myself as a sashimi connoisseur and I believe they have one of the freshest fish i have had in Irvine. They have two sashimi platters but I would recommend going with the toro one. I ordered mine as takeout and the packaging and how they tried to maintain the freshness and quality was impressive!

Love this place. Fish are fresh. Salad sashimi is the best for the price and quality. Customer service suppar, but the food is good and price is reasonable so I guess it balance out. Hope they would hire more helpers.

Pretty good food. Decent service. Pricey food. I ordered the salmon and hamachi nigiri and the chirashi don. The mixed tempura was not good as it was over fried or just bad batter. The sushi rice was well seasoned and the fish was fresh. The staff was friendly and attentive.

Very torn giving this review because what if this place becomes even more popular and wait times become impossible?Got the lunch special Chirashi Don and the fish is so fresh and huge! It's been a while since I last been wowed by a sushi place (my go to is Ohshima but getting reservations there is so hard since wait times are long) so super pleased to have stumbled upon this place! Got the unagi don with kaarage to go for my husband and now he wants to join me tomorrow here again for lunch.Definitely recommend!

We loved this place that our son recommended us to eat for lunch. Next time we are in town we will try to eat here again. Went right when they opened and there were already people standing in line. We were greeted and promptly seated. We ordered soft shell crab as an appetizer and he had premium sushi and I had the saba and tempura combo. At first he was going to order the sushi but then he heard the table next to us (tables are close together) order the premium sushi so when he looked at the menu again, he asked if it wasn't too late to order the premium. The neighboring table had also ordered the soft shell crab so our orders came out at the same time. They told us great minds think alike so he had to admit, it was eavesdropping their conversation that allowed us to upgrade the order. Not only was presentation of the sushi was very nice but the quality was very good. Eating sushi for lunch on a weekly basis here at home he made a comparison and said not only was the quality of fish better (thicker sliced of good quality fish) but also cheaper than what we would pay at home. I enjoyed my teishoku meal, especially the rice. You could tell the rice was from Japan. I'm not a rice snob, what we eat at home is what most people in Hawaii eat but that's not to say you can't tell the difference in quality. You can always tell when you eat the quality rice from Japan.

It pains me slightly to write this review... I'm so afraid that by giving my honest thoughts here, their business will surge and there'll be long waits and price increases. But, I owe it to other Yelpers here to be honest, so here we go:We have lived in the area for a few years, and have, until recently, been happy with one of the other Japanese restaurants in this neighborhood as our staple restaurant. But that restaurant recently had a menu change with food quality being a hit or miss each time so it was time to go out of our bubble to continue exploring. Kiyo stood out among the local options in the North Irvine area that we finally decided to give it a try. We arrived 5 minutes before the lunch hours and found a small crowd waiting at the door. We weren't sure about the capacity of the restaurant so we quickly put ourselves on the wait-list on Yelp. Minutes later when the staff came out to take individual parties to their tables we expected to be called. But it was obvious that the staff just looked around to accommodate parties closest to the door so we inched closer. When we told her that we put our name on the list she just took us in without a glance at the app. So it turned out that the Yelp wait-list wasn't entirely useful if you arrive early even though the tables were quickly filled In any case we checked out the iPad menus but really just wanted the lunch special (premium) chirashi dons so we just ordered with the staff directly. I think the wait time for the food was pretty reasonable (or I just enjoyed my lunch date with hubs) and we were given miso soup while we waited. Then the food came and it was an absolute bomb! Freshness was a given, but the presentation for the dine-in dons was impressive and the variety of fish was quite welcomed. We particularly appreciated the cut as the thickness was perfect to enhance the taste of the sashimi pieces. I also really liked the three scoops of toro/salmon/crab salad as part of the meal. The regular chirashi feels really worthy at $22, and the premium ingredients are top notched for only $35. Hubs was already looking forward to returning on a weekly basis. Since then we've mostly done takeouts because of convenience, and Kiyo continues to exceed our expectations with extremely well-packaged to-gos. The quality of the takeout bags can be reused, and the gel ice pack! I'm starting to feel bad with the number of ice packs we've accumulated over the past months... Did I mention that there's a $10 gift card if your purchase is over $70? Yeah, so please don't all rush there and make them change the quality or price of what has become our weekly or biweekly date lunch

Kiyo Sushi is our weekly sushi date! The restaurant is sparkling clean and sushi is ALWAYS fresh. Plus that we adore Tran and Ni.
